: Going to make a Fursuit soon, but need some advice
: Merrick July 17, 2009, 12:16:17 -06:00
I am wanting to make a Fursuit, but first I would like to know everyones opinions on which technique they prefer. I would also like to know which (Plastic Canvas or Upholstery Foam is less expensive because I am on a tight budget.

Penny for your thoughts?

We had a discussion here about foam vs plastic canvas:

As for price, they're both rather inexpensive, most of your cost will be fur and tools that you don't already have.

buying fur is the worst part of the cost. Because you look at it like this

good fur = expensive
shitty fur = half the price usually

I think I might take comparison pics to show people why its better to fork out a bit more cash and do a whole pros, cons thing. Since I made a cheap set of paws first to practice the pattern, sewing stuff with. Before I forked out $50 for a few meters of some good white fur.

The only reason I bring out my bad set of paws now is to show how my technqiue improved and to educate others about pros and cons of both products.

I prefer the foam method myself. If your located in Vancouver or can find a store called The Foam Shop (the one in Van is near Capilano Mall), they tend to sell scrap foam super cheap. We got a whole bunch for about $8.00

Good luck with your suit building! :D :D :D
