what about something like ... looking for furple to attend this?
Other than "facepaws", "raises paw", I hardly use much in terms of furry lingo intensively.
Personally. i absolutely dislike it when people put furry/animal related words into everything.
"Furiends" etc. Imo, it makes people sound extremely silly (for lack of a stronger word) and actually can make people really uncomfortable around the person saying it when you are in a public setting.
Its not 'cute' either. o.O
I might "Facepaw" once in a while. But i will only use strange furry lingo when I'm poking fun at it really (or being sarcastic.) It literally makes me cringe when people use "furry lingo".

^^ This this.. also, avatar related.
Furry lingo is to much for my fuzzy ears
*two dew claws down*
Then again *perks ears* it can be interesting.
I always feel better when people are themselves and don't hide behind convention or try to become cookie cutter robots...to a point.
The biggest boundary and awkwardness for me is know your audience or environment. There are places when using these words, wearing unique clothing, jewellery or showing off tattoos, speaking about controversial or off-colour topics are perfectly ok even good to get out there and let others see and the there are places and times when it's best to lay low or just keep calm and quiet.
Just remember for everytime you use a term or wear a tail or profess a love of something or hate it for that matter that someone in earshot might be cringing or yay-ing(is that a word).
There is no right answer so that's where the conflict can arise.
I know someone who hates the use of the word yiff but will throw gaming terms and street language out like there's no tomorrow. Guess which one bothers me more but I hesistate to bring it up to them because it's a two way street with more than one lane.
I could go on and on about this, interesting topic though.
It becomes a habit at times.
I dropped the p word when I was complaining about how cold my hands were at work. Lucky for me I was with one of the down to earth guys at work. He told me it was messed up and get my act together ^.^

He'll tell you what it is in a bit, but he needs to paws for dramatic effect first.....

I see what you did there. ^_~
Well never irl, but I refer to my hands as paws sometimes online. That's about as far is it goes =\
Furends, confuzzled, confurt. These are not words. These are at best bastardizations of words used to impose "furry-ness". At worse they make you seem infantile, children talk like this. I personally cant stand baby talk like this. There is nothing cute or sexy about it.
True, true. I don't see the point of furnishing vocabulary and discourse beyond, well, the level of which many furs seem to be in consensus for.
If, and when, I use furry lingo, it's to make fun of it.
You have no idea how relieved I am that I'm not the only one who dislikes the lingo, that being said, if you do use lingo, I don't have a problem
I agree that it is important to choose an appropriate setting. Many furs are less that "openly" furry in public. If your are one of these people who sees a need to draw attention to your furriness with these words at the expense of the comfort others, all you're going to do is make those of us who are more reserved want to spend less time with you. That said, I have been known to use phrases like "waves paw" in an online setting, but never to a very great degree. That's just my thought on the matter

^^^ Eeeeyup.
Furry lingo, to me, seems rather silly since in most cases it is just reinventing the wheel. It's just creating an alternate vocabulary that in no way enriches the meanings attributed to them. Adding fur to words or using words like 'yiff' just seems artificial, like being different to force a difference between one realm and the other.
I love fur lingo

And the Lingo sounds real lame-o! :-3
I only tend to use furry lingo around other furs, for me stuff like claws and scales, I got a few more naughty reference I like to whip out time to time. I guess it depends on the person and how really into associating as their species they are. Some people, like myself, walk around with the full on notion that "This is actually me inside, I am a ________ and I will refer to myself as such" so then the whole lingo thing really is just an extension of someone being more connected with who they see themselves as. Just as a human can go "holy dude... my hands are freezing.. and my feet, oh ffff" a fox can go "holy.. man my paws are freezing off.... my foot paws are now icicles!" I personally don't see that as annoying, that's just part of being in this fandom, We didn't come here to be boring.
BUT, I do draw a distinction between just being your furry/scaly/feathery self and just being one of those guys who trys to cram the word Fur into everything... the kinda guy who goes "Hey Furiends, man did I have a Furtastic day today. Was driving my Furd Tempo, having fun just cruising till I thought of my Fur-oomate and how he would not Furking clean the dishes, now im Furryious" Those kinda people really just get annoying trying to re-write the dictionary to be all furry-fied words.
Ahahaha, when I do it is totally my poor sense of humor bleeding through.
I use furry lingo 'ironically' guise. lol
