: got photo of big metal birds near Production Way skytrain station?
: EarthFurst July 13, 2009, 04:17:44 -06:00
I was on Skytrain enroute to a meeting, was at Burnaby at Lougheed Highway and Gaglardi Way (block East of Production Way-University skytrain station) and noticed what seemed to be a big sculpture of two metal birds.

Does anyone has a photo of the sculpture? (I don't have a camera)
(I think it was on SouthEast corner of Lougheed and Gaglardi)

They're all over the city, similar to all those bear sculptures.
There's a bunch more in that park near Metrotown (Central Park).

If you are referring to the same thing as the other posters it may well be the art birds that are decorated by groups companies and organizations then auctioned off for charity later on. Yes we had the bears and the orcaspreviously  ...other cities have done this too a really great idea public art is amazing

Though it does  sound like Earthfurst might be referring to a different sculpture entirely as well.

I drive by there everyday, they are awesome looking.  The best I could do for you is a picture from my cellphone.

Today I went past Lougheed and Gaglardi again,
the two birds are not one of the fiberglass eagles scattered around Vancouver.
(Thought they might be related, but don't seem to be listed at
http://www.eaglesinthecity.com/upload/docs/Eagle%20Flight%20Path%20Map.pdf (http://www.eaglesinthecity.com/upload/docs/Eagle%20Flight%20Path%20Map.pdf) )

The metal birds have a larger wingspan (about 20 feet?), while the fiberglass eagles have smaller wingspan (six feet?)
The wings of the metal birds are fairly horizontal, while the wings of the fiberglass eagles are vertical.

A cellphone picture would be great. Thank you Wishful, best wishes on getting a photo.
