: What do you do?
: Don October 05, 2012, 07:09:02 -06:00
Question Time~

What do you do, in occupation, or free time?

I took a year of Culinary Arts, it was fun, though maybe not for me as a profession. I've recently been thinking about looking into Teaching or perhaps Programming. There are some other possibilities in my list, but I'll take one step at a time.

Aside from career pursuits, I fill my time with games, anime / livestreams, conversing online and taking walks.

The tiger enjoys working with his soldering iron, cathode-ray oscilloscope and notepad.

I have started learning of textiles and plan to weave various items for my own use soon, belts, straps.

My main hobby tends to be exploring and roaming the area noon or midnight.

Job wise I do lot-work/ auto detailing for a used car dealership, nothing glamorous here, but at least I can be physically active and get an okay wage. Its got its ups and downs, I work with car salesmen and they are pretty true to their stereotype so I find myself feeling morally sick some days, but I do find all kinds of neat stuff in old trade-ins. Dragons gonna hoard, lol.

Hobby wise I like to work on computers and play around with electronics, in fact I got too much electronic and computer junk at this point XD. I also love drawing (what furry doesn't?) im not really serious with my art, I just like to draw what I like to draw, so dragons and porn, and a combination of the two hehehe! Last but not least, I am a little bit of a car guy, I like to tweak, fix and paint, at least what I can do to the best of my abilities, got a lill RV that I have put a fair bit of work into in that regard, its kinda fun ^.=.^

That is the most special thing. 8D

I work as an electrician. Communications/low-voltage side, usually. But they pull me over to The Sparkies when they need a geek to operate IR cameras or computers. I work all summer to pay for school, and study Computer Science the rest of the year at UBC.

I've got a wall of text detailing my hobbies in my profile. :V

Lemur is a Finishing Supervisor at a lumber mill, and a freelance Audio Engineer. I also work for Emergency Management BC as a SAR Aeronautical Navigator...but that's strictly volunteer.

What little time I have left, I fill with musical instruments, my motorcycle, and reading. I also love to cook, and I go through phases where I enjoy drawing, too. ^^

I deliver newspapers, but for ten cents a paper, a hundred houses per route twice a week, it ain't anything to live on. =>.<=

In my spare time (while I look for a real job) I play around with Blender (http://www.blender.org/) (a 3D creation suite), fiddle around writing (but not yet completing) a couple of Android apps, amateur photography, and sometimes I even do some crochet or knotwork.

I've been in the exciting world of advertising for the last ten years. The department I manage looks after website admin and site graphics. I have an architecture degree, but this pays better and is more creative. Also, the clients don't sue you for collapsed mezzanines.

I worked in brooks AB for a bit and made 400$ in a week. Planning on going back after school because i liked it, or get a job here if I start to like it better here.

I'm a programmer, mostly Java. As for other things I do, been getting back into some musical stuff (guitar and DJing) and thinking of trying my hand at electronic music production.

Oh, and I'm really into fountain pens, gaming, food, and photography, though I don't do enough of it.

This is not an exhaustive list. :)

Hmm well for work I'm a full time Barista at Starbucks. It may be a job that a lot of you would probably call beneath you but it's good work. I have great benefits, and I get to socialize all day. Although it's just work untill I find something I want to be a career.

In my spare time I'm a very laid back (lazy) person. I usually play games, watch videos, surf the net, play with my dogs. I really like the outdoors so I like to take the pooches out. I'm adventurous and open minded, so I'm willing to do just about anything I'm physically capable of doing. I usually need someone else to organize things though because I'm not a very driven person, so there's lots of things I would do but haven't bothered. I usually hang out alone or with Kohl, but I'm always looking for people to be friends with. I'm a really tactile (overly affectionate) person and I love to cuddle with people. If given half the chance I will curl right up and snuggle/scritch all night.

But I think overall what I do is exist. I live my life from one moment to the next. Trying to find happiness and purpose in life.

I've spent a combined six years working in coffeehouses, some full time, some part time. You're absolutely right, it's awesome work. Hard to make a career out of, but definitely has its own rewards. ^^

I'm a production machine-operator/shift leader at a factory that produces waterproofing membranes (roofing material) out of asphalt.  I do a whole bunch of shit, from calculating blends of asphalt:rubber:calcium-carbonate, to performing regular maintenance on the various machine sections and ensuring the product we make follows the specifications of the manufacturing order.

I've just received my Occupational First Aid Level 2 certification, so I'm an active first-aid attendant at my job, which is kinda cool.  I have a lot of responsibility at my job, so it can be really stressful as well as rewarding.

And I'm STILL working on my 4th class power engineering course, to be able to work on steam-boilers and refrigeration.  Dunno when that's gonna get done though... hopefully sometime soon.

granted everyone, and i mean everyone depends on my job.  i am a truck driver delivering all sorts of things to all sorts of places.

thank a trucker.  if you have it, a truck brought it.   and that includes the building you live in.  i'll take the thanks with hugs.

Excellent stuff! Gonna get your 3 with all your transport endorsements, eventually? I hope they give you a premium on top of your wage for being an active attendant...

I may, eventually.  Work paid for my OFA L2 and L3 is pretty expensive.  I was going to go try to be an on-call fire-fighter about this time next year, so there might be opportunities there. =)

This week I will be working on insulating an attic and I'm volunteering being a dog groomer, hopefully quite frequently.
I like dogs.
But I really like wolves and foxes.
I toats need to get first aid, my N, and a REaal job soon -.-, hopefully at seymour, or maybe i can go to whistler and be one of those workers who live there, but i'm pretty sure they only hire auzzies, I swear it's like every person has the accent. the only thing is I really don't want to work with clothes or food like all my high-school friends do. I could easily do something with phones, people, animals, computers, hands, outdoors.
After high school, which is approaching fast, I'll be looking for a place to live with Any of my friends.

Apart from being a student I sell shiny trinkets to people with wads of cash.

In my spare time I make things, any kind of things. I've made books, jewelry, planes, robots, bows; anything that you can make by hand with minimal tools, I'll take a crack at making come point in my life. Unfortunately between school, school work, and work I don't have much time anymore.

Landscape mostly, a mix of film and digital (though mostly digital these days). In the studio I'm doing portraits.

Also forgot to mention that hobbies include bubble tea, snowboarding (my favorite sport ever), mountain biking, hiking, going for long aimless drives and some music stuff.

Work wise, as of now I'm dockworker loading and unloading containers. About seventy percent of the time the boxes weigh fifty pounds, and the rest can range from ten to a hundred. So far one the worst jobs we had to do was load two thousand boxes of shrimp that weigh twenty pounds into a forty foot container, and after we finished each pallet, we had to stop and put a sticker on each box.

Free time, I like to read, play video games, write and listen to music.

Pallets had 126 boxes on each?  Did the labels say the shrimp came from plant #1933?  That's where I'm currently working, and on Tuesday had to load a container with 900  50 lb. boxes of chum salmon.  Only one box (right in the middle) was missing its label.  I had a helper, so I didn't have to do all the work on my own.
