was rather bored and figured I'd start a thread for guitarist furries, hoping to see a few posts.
I play bass guitar. I've been playing a little over ten years. I have two Squiers, four and five string, and four string Micheal Kelly acoustic.
I play. No recorder though.
*raises a paw* guilty. ^^
What do you guys think about a 12 string acoustic? I want to get one, but I also want another electric
I am, though I'm not terribly good yet (need to practice more). I've got a Godin Session electric.

What do you play, as far as electrics go, now?
Well I've got a Les paul knock off, and a Samick acoustic, as well as a el degas Bass

How "knock-off" are we talking? :p I would say that, as long as you're happy with the tone and feel of your electric, then go for the 12-string. :) Takamine and Martin both make lovely 12 string acoustics. :)
A 12 string is fun to play with at first but it gets really limited when you want to get some really deep, aggressive hits on the guitar. If you're a good plucker go for a 12 string, but you can get way with more contrast with strumming and plunking with a 6 string.
It's a Mann, and well I started playing guitar with finger picking, and I only want another electric so I can put lighter strings on it, My Mann's got real thick strings on it now making it impossible to do hammer-ons and pull offs
Who wants to get together and jam? I'm in Surrey and Port Moody. Who else is around here?
I freestyle. I can improvise with you but I get bored when I gotta keep a beat.
I've been playing guitar since I was about 3 years old, and bass since I was in middle school. Done a little bit of recording here and there, played live gigs with my old band, etc. Mostly into heavy metal/hard rock stuff.
I have an Ibanez RG7420 7-string electric, pickups replaced with an EMG 707 (neck) and EMG 81-7 (bridge), tone control removed and replaced with an EMG Afterburner (push-pull toggle, rotary knob w/ up to 20dB boost).
Also an Agile 12-string acoustic-electric my brother gave me, though it's falling apart as most 12-strings do (bridge is pulling up and warping the top wood).
Bass: Started on a Yamaha RBX260, now have an Ibanez SR505.
Slowly trying to get a band off the ground again but dealing with health issues at the moment.
I wish I could play guitar. I own one, and I've tried to learn, but no matter how much I try I cant seem to get the hang of moving my stubby little fingers fast enough. I always end up getting frustrated, so it goes back to the corner, condemned never to make beautiful music.

Seeing as I have no direction in life as of the moment I'm able to hang out anytime fri-sunday this week, as in tomorrow-sunday if you would like to too or if that's too soon doesn't matter it's whenever you want to. Or we could go on Skype if you have a webcam and mic and feel more comfortable on there instead of in real life, some people are I'm not. But my mic is meh.

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/planet-waves-varigrip-hand-exerciser (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/planet-waves-varigrip-hand-exerciser) <-- Make some exercise of the fingers with this, they will become strong like ox and you can make tricky hammers and pulleys weep as you crush them...also, a little additional gain may be your friend. Why such heavy strings? For funky alternate tunings?
Well I didn't really know they were that thick, I figured they were like a buddies of mine, but turned out they weren't, and well I've had them for a a few years now, and they just won't break
I play classical guitar, been playing for 11 years. I love the classical guitar just a gentle sound when played with great tone :)
I major in Classical Guitar Performance at Kwantlen.
I play a Manuel Rodrigo E Hijos hand crafted guitar from Spain :D

I'd say restringing = phenomenally cheaper than an entirely new guitar. :)

I'll bet it sounds absolutely beautiful!
I am not so great with a classical guitar. :/ Well, I'm not exceptionally good with any style of guitar, but classical slays me especially hard.
How 'bout you just learn to play any guitar how it is? Why spend 2k on a piece of equipment that's going to deteriorate? If you want a good guitar, then practice, get sponsors to pay you to play there high prices guitars. Just because you got a Ferarri doesn't mean you can beat a VW Rabbit on the track. It will make your enjoyment out of playing so much better. At a beach party, you hear a guitar, you wonder the sand then hey, there it is. Seems like a couple strings on the guitar is out of tune or the guitar is from a thrift store. Do you give up? Turn a string out of tune. There's only so many combinations you can get from a guitar if you play in a standard format. A guitar can be manipulated so easily. Half fret, nail fret, moveable bridges, you can even tune the guitar as you play at the same time.
Yeah true, maybe I'll do that, but I also want another 6 string so I can have one standard tuned and the other either drop D Drop E or 1/2 step down, instead of constantly retuning
Yes! Have playing for 5-6 years now? I'm huge into jazz theory and chords but I usually play rock, particularly psychedelic/progressive in style! :3
I've been playing guitar for ten years now. I've played through many different styles in that time but at present I'm on a classical fingerpicking / songwriting trip. :>
I wouldn't exactly call myself a "guitarist." I don't actually sit down with intent on practice and theory, and I don't consider myself really that good. I usually play around and discover tunes that I think sound good and throw them on track. I'm far more experienced on drums.
That being said, my baby is my Ibanez RGA8 (F#, B, E, A, D, G, B, E). The thing is a hellbender. The low end sounds so ridiculously beefy, and the fretboard is quite a challenge to get familiar with, having to reach so far across to get the F# and B strings.
I learned most of what I know on my Epiphone SG and my dad's old Fender Telecaster. I also have a Yamaha steel string acoustic, Yamaha 5-string bass, and a cool little Epiphone mandolin.
i can play guitar a little but mostly i play bass. i have a crappy guitar and bass, and my nice bass is an epiphone thunderbird gothic
What kind of amp do you use, Zadow?
I play but only a beginner. Been trying to figure out how to play some of my favourite songs cause I'm sick of the boring beginner songs and also want to be challenged a bit more. Problem is having troubles figuring out how to maker hem sound pretty like the pro acoustic players.
@ elias i got a roland bassXL 20 watt
woooo guitar-dragon reporting in! :O coming on 6 years of playing now, only finally really working out my own style now that I can bring precisely what's in my head to my fingers when I play
playing an LTD Viper 200FM, and I have an Epiphone Explorer currently tuned down to C for those days when I feel like playing out my metal side, gawd that thing makes my fingers tremble with joy
Honestly though, now I'm just looking to up my amp-game. I've got a Fender GDec which is funky and the amp effects are fun, but it's a quieeeeet solid state D: I'm scouring the internet for a good little tube-amp, think I'm going to save for a Vox AC15C1. I need some warmth in my playing, not tinny solid-state stuff ;o And I'll finally be able to turn it up and break some windows when I have to
while looking for a tube style amp don't give up on the old telephone. call the local pawn shops and ask if they have any in stock. i have seen a marshall amp at royal city in new west, and there is a pawn shop on commercial at 11th that has a large music section. one on main st near 14th also has musical instruments. royal city aslo has a 13 piece drum set.
so use the phone and call up pawn shops. you would be surprised at what they have taken in and not claimed.
bonuses to buying at a local pawn shop is that you don't pay shipping, and you help the local economy.
what do you have jet ?
I too play guiter.
I have acoustic and nylon string guitars and 6 and 12 string electric guitars.
I also have a Chinese guzheng if anyone wanted to know.
I love Iby's Jet! Orange stuff is awesome, too! Face-melty drive. XD
would anyone want to jam i can bring my bass or electric guitar
wouldn't suggest my house since my room is tiny and only have a 20W amp and i'm guessing people have larger amps so ....
I have space...but it's quite a trip, for most. :p
ya east kootneys a lil far from vancouver
