Hello,
Decided I'd like to try to make a real fursuit head for Howloween. it's going to be a male lion with a wig. I've only made ears, paws and tails before.
Where do you buy the foam? I've only seen squishy form for sale, never the harder stuff I see folks post pics of...? Can you get it at Fabricland?
What kind of head is best for beginner? Wire, balaclava? I'd like a more realistic type, hoping to get a moving jaw. Im not sure about eyes, I'd love the glass ones, but no idea how to do that. I might try the fabric eyes
Does anyone have a tutorial? I can't find a good one.
Thank you!!
I've never made a fursuit myself before, but I found these very useful when looking for pointers:

Adding on the resources above--yes, you can get foam at Fabricland. It's not exactly cheap, but it's great for heads (same stuff I use, in big-semi flexible sheets. :U). There's also a dedicated foam store down off Hastings somewhere with big, carveable chunks, but I can't remember the name for the life of me.
And balaclava is great to start with if you want a moving jaw. Do NOT use plastic mesh, despite what beginner tutorials say. It warps, breaks, and tends to make really blocky heads. Some people can pull it off great, but it's really hard to work with. I'd personally recommend balaclava + foam, though, because it's really breathable and tends to make smaller heads that blend better with partial suits. C:
