I'm Zenith, and a Bear. Very nervous about bringing myself to the community. But you all seem like accepting people.

I don't know how to meet others like me in the North Vancouver/ Vancouver area, but would like some help in the direction I should proceed.

Hello Zenith! welcome to the community :)

If you want to meet people in the area, take a look at the event boards. Lots of things are happening. Dinner meets, Bowling meets, potlucks, movie nights, etc. :3

Most of those threads will have directions, times, etc.

If you aren't a crowd friendly person, dinner meets are usually a handful of people. You can always organize something yourself as well. :)

It took me many months to get used to the community enough to go out to events. If you find a buddy on here to go with, it makes it that much easier :-3

Hey there welcome to the forums!

Welcome to the community Zenith, hope you find your way. One way is to have a buddy you know well join you at one of these events, as suggested above, go to a smaller event. Sushi Tuesday tends to change a lot in number. Another approach, once you have made a few contact on the forum ask one of its members for more details about different events or even to meet in person. Time will help getting acquainted.

I've been an observer in the community for over 10 years now, but i only just decided to start participating and trying to meet people in the last 3 months. I told myself that i would just take it nice and slowly (i'm not usually a go-to guy in a new/unfamiliar environment) at first and go to a meet eventually and see how it went. Well that sure didn't happen! A week or 2 later i went to my first meet ever. I was nervous as hell, cause i didn't really know what to expect or how 'fanatic' some of the people might be. When i finally met up with everyone though i had a great time! Everyone i've met here on the forums and in person has been really friendly.

So don't be nervous! You may not be ready to go to a meet or event right away, but it can definitely help if you participate in some of the threads and chat with people here - get to know someone (or lots of someones =P)! There's also the Skype groups that you can join if you're interested. Get to know someone on the forum and you can plan to meet them in person at an event (Furry Bowling, Sushi Tuesdays, etc?).

On that note, i don't live in Van, but hope to see you around on the forums and at events when you're ready! =)
