Nothing particularly furry related. But I'm just curious to know if any other furs play?
I moved here to BC two months ago, and since I just found a job I've been starting to think about getting back into it.
Now, to be something of an elitist, when I say 'Into airsoft' I mean with guns that fire at a 280 minimum FPS. Not the cheapy crossman stuff, which, as fun to plink around with as they are, wouldn't hold up in a game.
Airsoft is (or was) an incredibly expensive hobby, especially once you start upgrading...and you can never settle for just one gun. I still have most of my arsenal, including the only CO2 M60 in Canada 8)
I tried to get back into it but everyone is playing with this transparent Canadian Tire shit now. And they have really cracked down on FPS limits so I can't use my jacked up guns on the field anymore :-\
Only ever played Paint ball....

Only ever played Paint ball....
Paintball is win.
I lurrrve mah gun :D
Yes most of my guns are quite pricy. I paid $400 for my P90 used, plus a mags and batteries. And $800 for my M16A1 with everything I needed run it.
I also have a cheapy L96 I'm upgrading, and two gas pistols.
True it's fun to have more than one gun. But for all the same reasons I want more than one real gun.
Alot of the big brands have had to start importing clear bodied ones. It seems customs really doesn't want the replicas getting in now. But they're still pretty powerful. Like the G&Gs come at like 380fps stock I think.
Besides, a clear body is nothing a little duracoat won't cover up.
I'm surprised if the big airsoft clubs have gone to cheapy clearsoft, or if they've cut down FPS for that matter.
I'm sure there are some less public groups that don't stand for that crap.
I mean, yeah, as a backup it's fine to take a cheapy and spraypaint it. But alot of the fun is in the realism and the look.
When you go out and spend $200 for an assault vest, $80 on a uniform. $100 on goggles. Who knows how much for a good radio and throat-mic. You don't want the 18 year old with the camo he bought at American Eagle covering you with his crossman shotgun.
There are some fine, capable entry level guns which, yes you're going to spend $400 for. But if you want to get into the sport, that's what you need to be prepared for.
Or you're going to do what I did and buy the gun you really want from the start.
Regardless of if I was going to be playing the game. I wanted to own a replica P90.
You can get just about any gun in existence as an airsoft gun. They have guns from movies and video games, like the STARS Beretta M92.
People spend thousands of dollars on movie weapon replicas that are just sculptures. These you can actually use in a game.
That's the appeal to me at least.
Perhaps this topic could be used to showcase your weapons, complete with pictures, stats, and whatever mods you've done? I'm very interested, but never had much of a chance to get into it because of paranoid family members, followed by lack of funds...
Anyone Have any good places to get them. I've only heard of airsoft but never seen any except the ones at Canadian tire. I play paintball and have a few painball guns but i would be interested to learn more.
It's getting harder and harder to buy them now.
007airsoft.com (http://007airsoft.com) is one I have dealt with. There's also shootsoft.ca (http://shootsoft.ca)
Again. most places are dealing in the ones with the clear lower receiver, but they'll be higher quality ABS plastic, which can be painted over with firearms quality finishes if you like.
Here's a link to an Instructable I made during the process of modding my sniper rifle. At the end are a couple pictures of two of my other guns.

I've never played airsoft but would really like to once I'm done school and have a steady income. I got a question about it though. How useful are the sniper rifles? It seems like a piece of plastic would drop off pretty quickly...
Don't get a sniper rifle as your first airsoft gun. You will get destroyed, frustrated, and you won't come back.
You will get identical range (due to identical FPS limits) and comparable accuracy to an AEG...except you will only get one shot before you need to rack the bolt.
Kinda like the difference between a single shot paintball gun versus a fully automatic one, except even worse.
In answer to your question, about 100 feet, max?
Hehe, destroyed, frustrated, and won't come back? It's like whenever I pick up a new shooter game. Except I paid 50 bucks for the game so I come back to get my money's worth. I'm sure I would with airsoft too... hopefully. >.>
That's kinda too bad with the range but it makes sense. I'd probably leave the sniper rifle to the real gun category and buy a normal airsoft gun.
Yep, except in order to get a sniper rifle field-worthy, expect to spend more around $800... ;)
There will be other people with snipers there, you can ask to try them for a round. They will probably be very thankful for the switch!
My rifle's 460fps. It needs a couple upgrades and it should be pretty darn nice. Accuracy is somewhere around 100 feet, but with the upgrades it should improve. It definitely depends on the field you're playing too.
I'd say my range and accuracy beats most AEGs right now, but you need to be able to see and shoot them before they're close enough to open up with full auto.
The G&G rifles aren't too pricy. They're probably your best bet to start with.
Otherwise I'd have suggested the TM M3 super 90 spring shotgun for a starter weapon. It had damned nice range and a three round spread.
But also, like I said, I bought the weapon I wanted from the start and I've stuck with it. I regretted buying my M16 for the longest time. Sure it had a bit more range, but it didn't look or feel nice. I'm not a huge fan of ARs in general.
I'm not sure what's still available, but I'd suggest that you save up and buy the gun you want from the start. Especially if you don't think you'll be able to afford another any time soon.
Just don't get it over 500, it's legally a firearm then. (Yes, even though it's shooting plastic).
You'll have difficulty getting that on any of the official fields unless you sneak it on, they enforce a limit of 400 for snipers I believe. I keep hearing rumors of "unofficial" fields here and there but haven't been to any.
I have the Benelli, it's decent, but just by virtue of being single shot you will not have a good time against AEGs unless you get the jump on someone.
I had an M16 at one point, it was basically a huge piece of shit for a TM. The front handguard was a greasy, horribly molded piece of plastic, and it had awful barrel wobble right out of the box. I traded it to someone for a nicely upgraded Spetz ;D
I have a 495 fps air rifle... too bad it shoots metal pellets. :P Sure miss using it... I miss going out shooting real guns with my friend more though.
God I am such a redneck at heart. D:
I got a coupla crappy airsoft guns from walmart.
Seems like a fun game, though I kinda suck at the 'stealth' part of the game.. or the 'aiming'
Or anything really.
Got a Desert Eagle thingus... a PP7, I think, and a very bad automatic uzi which won't shoot anything unless it's parallel with the ground.
My buddy's got a decent shotgun thing. His buddies have an okay M16...
It's all come from walmart or Canadian Tire, I can garantee it.
Nobody ever fielded their guns? Come on we all swim around in the BC airsoft community, hell, it ain't that big. Show up or die. Yes, die. FESS UP YOU BASTARDS, AND SHOW UP. Field @ Panther and field @ Bigfoot games, Mission. I know a couple of people into the furry thing who play there, both at Panther and Bigfoot.
G&G got their ass kicked by the new VA JG clones and those aren't half bad.
yum yum KWA's are in as well. and the Tanio Koba / KJW GBBR's ain't that bad either.
Cheerios. Show up more, for you regulars, or PM me your call-sign on the field. Everyone has one.
This place is full of surprises!
Furry AirSoft, eh? hehe
I have a few weapons, and another coming, trying to gear up for matchings :3
Must do more research...
