umm ya looked it up online and it just confused the live'n crud out of me, so can some one give me a hand.
Old rules were:
You pass the written test and get your First stage "L"
Ride for 30 days with a supervisor
Take the Parking lot skills test to get your Second stage "L"
Wait a year or two and take your "N" test
Wait another year to get your full license
Not sure if they've changed or not...
If your living in the lower mainland and thinking about riding, think twice!
This is one of the worst areas in Canada to ride in, due to stupid drivers.
I lost most of my leg in 2006, and had been riding dirtbikes/motorcycles my entire life up until then. It doesn't matter how skilled you are if other drivers aren't paying attention...
Some food for thought...not trying to be a downer, but I don't want anyone to go through what I had to, and still do.
Here's what was left of my bike, after a Ford Bronco tried to beat a yellow light and T-boned me, crushing my left leg between my engine and his bumper.
It took me 2 years to learn how to walk again.

Jesus I didn't know that about you! You poor son of a bitch! :o What did you do with yourself for two years?! How is your leg now?
Developed a Morphine addiction and played WoW.
Most of the Muscle and Nerves were destroyed, so it doesn't work very well at the best of times. Walking is tricky, the artificial joints seize up and I start limping again if I do too much, lol
Well you have my respect sir. :o
You hide it very well, I've never notice your supposed limp. Not once.
Pardon my derailment, back to motorbikes and licensing.

My best friend got his bike license a few years back and, for the most part, this sounds quite similar. He already had his full Class 5 (regular motor-vehicle), so I think he skipped the first stage "L." I know it's a LOT easier to get your Class 6 (motorcycle) when you already have your full Class 5.
I agree Fully here with Torwin The Majority of drivers are just plain stupid. Depending on where you are you may want to think twice about that. It completely baffles me some of the stuff they do and the near misses I've had either as pedestrian or in a vehicle. (all of them at fault of the other driver if you were wondering. I was lucky to start driving at a young age on a race course so you can say I take driving seriously)
Sorry to hear about your Leg Torwin.
No need to be sorry, shit happens! lol
Just want to make others aware of the danger ;)
Hey Torwin, I hope you get well soon. I have to agree that it doesn't take took long for me to realize in Vancouver that there's a higher percentage of road psychopaths - them and their way-too-large-over-the-size-of-a-Toyota-Hiace "cars".
Thanks for the well wishes, but I won't get better unfortunately. The accident was almost 7 years ago, I am stuck with it for the rest of my life, lol
sorry to not reply on my own post in a wile been busy, ya ok that helps thanks you but with the 2nd class "L" do you need a Super? and if i get a "N" for the car licence what would happen? im still a little lost. i hate dumb drivers "Take the time to think wile you drive eh? AND OPEN YOUR DAMN EYES!"
No, you don't need a supervisor with your 2nd stage L for the once you've passed the skills (parking lot) test. You can ride alone between dawn and dusk, no passengers, no alcohol.
For a car license you only need a supervisor for the L stage, you can drive alone with an N (There are only 2 stages)
ok thanks alot that realy helps me out now, ya i got a little trail blazer, max speed 50-60 just enough to get to town and got to my friends, so no super thats kool.
no matter what type of bike you ride on a daily basis, when you go in for the riding part of the test, take it on the smallest bike you can beg, borrow, or steal.
the guy taking his test in front of me was on a big bike and he got a little cocky. he rolled a stop - twice!! he raced a yellow. because he had the power and knew he could do it. take the smaller bike and you aren't tempted to do something stupid during the test, because you don't have the power to do it you won't think you can and therefore you will be more careful and aware of your surrounding vehicles.
