Not all of the events are for older people, though the average participant in the fandom is in their 20's. (this is the average as per a survey and considers people all over the world.)
There is Bowling, game and movie nights, etc. Not all meant for the old crowd~
Keep an eye out ^^
Hi lime, you might not be the youngest but you are way younger then the average.
A past local did his own statistics as of February 2010. The average age at the time was 24.24.(thread is here: http://www.bcfurries.com/forum/index.php?topic=1461.0 (http://www.bcfurries.com/forum/index.php?topic=1461.0)) Also at the time the youngest on the boards was 16. Now this will have changed due to the fact that this was over 2 years ago.
I'm sorry Lime but you are younger the the average furry.(Furry Survey 2012 as of April 2012 http://www.klisoura.com/ot_furrysurvey.php (http://www.klisoura.com/ot_furrysurvey.php)) The average furry is between 15 and 19.
Don't let these numbers discourage you!! Just remember we were all at that age at some point!!
i just started a poll to see the average ages ;D
Hm...regarding this topic, I remember that there was a young girl in a partial during VFur.
OMG OMG the young girl in the partial was my friend amethyst :D ;D ;D ;D she is making my fursuit for me :birdy: :birdy: :birdy: :birdy: :birdy: :birdy:
Like Kitten said, you may be the youngest new member, but don't be discouraged. I first got into the fandom over 10 years ago when I was 11 or 12. =)
...Kinda feels weird realizing it's been so long...
I feel old... :(
now that i think of it, i got into the furry fandom at 11 which was about a week ago :birdy: :birdy: :birdy: :birdy:
You're the youngest furry I've met so far. Don't let that discourage you though! Just make sure, if you attend meets, you go with an older sibling or parental guardian - just to be safe :)
You are just a little younger than I was when I got into the fandom (was 13). Though I didn't go to any events till I was 17, I was a bit of a shut-in ^.=.^;;
You're probably the youngest, or at the least the youngest active member. I would honestly advise using caution if you decide to come to public events. Not to insinuate that furs are dangerous, but as a minor you are at elevated risks, particularly at outdoor meets. Please note that none of the others at a meet can be responsible for your well being. As well I should advise that your attendance at private parties could, in some cases, cause legal problems.
Yup, the youngest furry I've seen or known about! xD
Which is fine ahah.
Probably, but that's not necessarily a good thing. Be careful who you talk to. Just sayin'
lol >.>
actually i got an hour long lecture on that same subject by my grandma
T.T never want to think about it again

Don't worry too much about it. I still get the same lecture from my parents and all that and I know what you mean. 8)
Somehow I never got that lecture from my parents, but this was at a time I hung out with the same people again and again. Plus the net was not as wide spread as it is now.
For sure suggest you go to a furry event with a guardian such as an older sister who is receptive to the fathom. Under events there are many gatherings to go to, would suggest Sushi Tuesday in New Westminster.
If u don't come with a guardian, or sibling, I suggest informing parents/guardians of where ur going, who is the host of the event, might make them feel a lil better if they can communicate with the host.
I do this when meeting a person from online. I tell a friend as much details as I can. Texting a friend to let them know I'm safe, and details on what the other is wearing, and such. And after I text again to let them know I'm home safe.
But the best is bringing a guardian! :)
Wereman's idea is good. Regarding the bowling place, if you want to get yourself in the restaurant-turned-furry lounge-for-the-night, it's either going back out of the building and knocking on the door of the lounge, or crossing through the bar. It would be best for you to frequent the furry sushi Tuesdays, and perhaps the dinner meet for sure avec a legal guardian/family member (of course).
looks like you are the youngest here Ms.lime

Thanks tokar, rub it in old man, lol.
Lime welcome to the forum and hope you do get to some of the events, bowling could be fun. The sushi night isn't bad either, close to the skytrian and a safe place. But as everyone suggested, make sure you tell your parents or guardian before you attend an event.
Last Vancoufur I saw a girl about 8 years old, wearing a tail walking around with her Mom. I was thinking "woman, you do not want to expose your child to the things that go on at a fur con."

I've been seeing young kids at furry cons for quite some time, though admittedly they've always been quite rare. I think the whole idea of second-generation furries is pretty cool, though. I wonder if there are any third-generation furries yet.
I definitely got the lecture when I started hanging out the local furry group at age 15, too.
