Hi guys,
I'm a scruffy lone wolf just wandering the world (lower mainland :P) looking for a pack of awesome and accepting furries (any species) to befriend. I'm very independent and generally keep to myself most of the time. Some people call me "Tins", some people call me "Dark" - whichever is preferred.
In the 'real world' I'm a male 27yo professional living in the Vancouver area (Delta, but I'm usually in Vancouver more than Delta because of my job). I was very apprehensive to join here, and even furaffinity... I've been going solo at this for so long after having a really poor experience with the fur community (not the BC furry community, a community in the USA) in 2009. I really would like to get my fursona drawn, and start crawling out from under my rock and meet new awesome people and enjoy some good times.

From what you've said I feel fairly similar regarding communities. I've many disagreements with how some people act (in excess fantasy, would never join FA), but I feel like opening up here. After realizing I associate myself more with a tiger and not inbetween.. I can accept that I do not have or need a fursona drawing and can open up just the way I am.
And besides, Canadian furries are awesome :) And here, even meetable!
My last experience really sucked. I befriended the wrong type of furs in the USA and it cost me a lot of money (guilt tripping into loans, etc.) and it put me through a lot of emotional distress. It was due to a lack of communication and a poor self esteem on my behalf, I pretty much let some people use me and walk all over me... but that was in the past and I'm completely over it all now and a more mature and experienced wolf :thumbs:
The few times I hung out with bc furs years ago I always had positive experiences, I just wish I stuck it through... I went through a self-searching period though and kept to myself and a few people who aren't furs themselves. I always kept to myself and about being a furry.

Pleased to make your acquaintance. I am a wolf as well, though with only a little need to have my character drawn. Much like kindred, I see myself as a straight up wolf, though I've made room for an anthro image. Anyways, look forward to seeing you at some events in the near future. I'm sure you find, like me, that this community has a fine pack-ful of wolves to get to know, and more than enough to make your own pack with.
