I have been a furry for about 3 years now but i have never gone to a fur meet due to my shyness, i know its silly but meeting going to a party and such where i know no one at all is pretty scary for me. I really do want to meet people tho :)
So any advice on going to meets and/or dealing with shyness or anxiousity? It would really help. :)
Going with a friend always helps.
You can always talk to the host/hostess of the meet and let them know the situation. At least someone will know and might be able to help make the experience a bit better for you. Or help you feel comfortable in the house before things get to busy. Also talking to them about what happens, where you can go if you get really panicky (perhaps, where are good places to go for a walk if you need it) etc.
I echo Temrin's advice of going with friends.
Another avenue to try is meet at a small event at first and build some bonds with some people before tackling a larger event if you feel there is a lot of anxiety involved.

:)
Hm...I remember going alone during my attendance to furmeets.
Either way, I have to agree with the part about talking with the host/hostess. :-3
The Fursuit Bowling monthly events are always a great place to go. They're tame, fun, and the atmosphere is great. You can meet a lot of the local crew there, and it doesn't matter if you're even good at bowling or not. =P
