Coal.. I'm really sorry to hear this. I have tried my best throughout the past year and a half to find a common ground for everyone on staff, but I fear there were battles going on for you that nobody but you could resolve. I see now you have not been able to resolve them. I'm truly sorry to hear you are thinking of leaving, and I hope there's some way I can help in some way. You know I'm here for you and always have been.
We had our arguments, as any coworkers do, but without you, VancouFur would never have happened, and that's a fact. It takes guts to bring an idea forward and push it to completion, and you did that, to the best of your ability. You started the movement and will always have that to be proud of.
There is no I in team, but there is no team without it's members. You will be missed, honestly.

With him being over the age of 40 in a fandom populated by 20 somethings is hard. Anything he did/does gets categorized wrongly. His actions are based on being from a different generation and thus things that are meant to be kind or innocent are mistaken. He is not a pedophile.
Are you really leaving because you didn't make it automatically on to the Board? The fandom is fickle and they always play favorites. Way to take offence to something that happens in the real world too. "Used and Abused"? Really? You weren't used and abused! OH GOD someone didn't agree with you, or someone didn't like how you did somethings. Come on, tell me how were you "used and abused"? I see you got some fame for VancouFur. But if you're calling the work you did for that "used and abused" then DUH!!! You haven't ever been to a con before other then that one AND this was your first time volunteering! So of course it was HARD. You would have been right if NO ONE gave you credit. So noone wants an appointed board of directors, that doesn't mean they don't want you on there. It just means they want you on there fair and square. Seeing you quit after tieing for the last spot on the board, robs you of the little respect I had for you. So you have seen some of the comments that were posted here. One would think you would understand why, hope you do. Phin it is not just about the convention, but when i have close friends from other parts of the world contacting me and asking me "is this true?". Not to mention some other people not so friendly asking the same question, well then. So I will just go crawl back under the rock a good many think I came.
I don't think I have been inappropriate, other then a raising a few hackles and questions. If the community thinks my hugs, scritiches and cuddles were inappropriate, then I apologize. I have not done anything, with anyone who was not legal, wanted to or said no. I have asked, and been asked by persons for cuddles and if cuddles is all they wanted that was all they got.
Guys, please be civil on the Forums. I know most of you are better people than that. If you have an issue with someone I would hope you would have the decency to speak to them one on one instead of making one and done comments on a forum.
Aside from that,
Coal, I'm sorry to see you go. Regardless of people's personal feelings I don't think it can be argued that you didn't have a passion for our community. Safe journeys to you.

From my observation, you were given the opportunity to be yourself. Perhaps I don't know the inner struggles, but I totally understand taking too many hits and feeling absolutely awful from a progressive increase in negative events. When things get rough, it's OK to tune out.
Coal, you and I have had our few issues, but I am glad to say that you have been my friend. You have shown me nothing but kindness and I'm sorry to see you go, I hope one day you will see the overwhelming love, understanding, and respect from our community that ive experienced. And I hope they will see it from you.

Kitten, I am not talking about leaving the community because I didn't get on the board in the first run, and there is the run poll till the 16th. It is more to do with certain things that have been said about me, like the one you mentioned above. I have talked to aphinity about some of the things that have been said and done and he was a great help. He has been supportive in matters and cuffed me up side the head (figuratively), when needed. So please do not mistake that this is because of the convention or the board vote.
As for the convention, I did manage to do what I intended, I got the ball rolling and with some momentum. If it wasn't for the community coming together and keeping the ball rolling we wouldn't of had a convention. Also considering the nay sayers at the beginning that decided to help out when the ball got closer to the top oh the hill, I would say we managed to pull a damn good convention together, in a short period of time.
There were a few cat fights and disagreements, but the community pulled together. If I understand correctly there was a good divide in the furry community, two distinct furry groups. I do not know all the details of the divide, don't care really, but I do know that parties from both groups joined to make this convention happen. So my only agenda was accomplished, have a furry convention in the Vancouver area, and both groups working together on it.
Now I may not know much about what's going on here, but, DAMN, some of you go straight for the throat, geez. I know you don't have to like everyone, but man oh man, calling him names and the such. He's not some kind of deity, he'll make errors and mistakes, he's prone to his emotions and is only mortal.
The only thing I can suggest is to take some time to relax, and remember those who are your real friends, and remember the good times you had before you make the final curtain call on the subject

I do not know what has happened in terms of the drama, but on a personal level, you were an awesome person. You brought me words of encouragement and greeted me upon my first days into the forums. I met you in person and you were an awesome guy to hang out with. Remember the time you played surprised and shocked at me holding a Starbucks cup in the lift. It's a moment that brought a smile to my snout now and then.
As for your decision to leave, I wish you the best in your future prospects. *salute* It has been a great, if not unforgettable opportunity to work with you, especially during the promotional video of VFur. Don't let others take you down.

I am truly sorry to see you go Coal. As with many of the other folks here, we had our differences, but you did get the ball rolling on VancouFUR and that can't be tarnished or taken away from you.
Coal, I do well and truly regret seeing you go; Your company was a delight on the occasions you chose to share it with me and Loial, and you've always been a kind, gregarious sort. I will miss your presence in this community. May I at least from time to time pester you outside of it, and maintain personal contact? I would rather not see you slip away altogether. We all have our weaknesses, and we all have things that we regret saying/doing. This needs to be tolerated and not attacked when people make mistakes.
If we go for the throat each time things don't go the way as planned, we will surely wreck everything we have created in this community. Slight tangent from this subject - i'm already seeing this by whispers of the bc furs community separating in 2 groups. This is upsetting and should not be promoted.
Seeing as I'm new here, what are the 2 groups, and what causing the rift to feel the need to form the 2 groups. I keep hearing about it on this topic. Sounds pretty scary, to think if this continues, friends maybe lost and good people may leave altogether because they don't want to get involve in all this

The whole 2 groups thing is a PAST issue. Do those groups still exist yes. The old groups were mailing lists, VFur and VAF. What happened was they were both one group then some friends wanted their own meets, spawning the other group. It is no longer an issue.
That is my understanding of the whole 2 groups issue.
Im sad to read that you're leaving Coal. I'll truly miss you and your hugs and scritches. I wish you all the best with you and Craz and hope that one day you'll come back.

I've been around for just over two years now. NEVER seen this "two group" issue pop-up. I'd say it's a moot point.

The vfur/VAF split was eons ago - back around 2000, IIRC. Ancient history.
Firstly, sorry for hijacking the topic again, and sorry to hear anyone go, especially older members.
I was reading the post, and heard about a split, not knowing when it took place, thinking great, I come on here, post my first topic, and get responses, that almost felt like everyone was get their pitchforks and torches ready at me, and now I got to start choosing sides, thinking that this rift thing is starting, not long since over, like a decade old.
Again, my apologies to Coal for taking this topic away from the main point, and to say, live happy, and keep in contac with your good friends, furry or not.
Coal is a nice guy and doesn't deserve almost all of the crap he gets :P
