: Help me with math please.
: velvetkytten April 08, 2012, 12:36:57 -06:00
So I just want to find out how much I should be getting back from my landlord when i move. The deposits i gave in august 2006 was 310 for security deposit and 200 for pet deposit.

The regulations on interest are interest payable on security deposits and pet damage deposits
4 The rate of interest under section 38 (1) (c) of the Act [return of deposits] that is payable to a tenant on a security deposit or pet damage deposit is 4.5% below the prime lending rate of the principal banker to the Province on the first day of each calendar year, compounded annually.

I hope someone is bored enough to help me on this.

the amount of interest will be negligible so don't sweat the small stuff.  just hope he returns all of the deposits you have given him and that he doesn't find something to "deduct" from the deposit for.  if you still have time, clean your carpets so he doesn't have an excuse to deduct a charge for him to do it.

good luck
