: What to do with a fursuit?
: Roffo March 18, 2012, 05:13:52 -06:00
I've had my fursuit for more then a month now. I really want to get out into the public and do fun stuff with it. Visit downtown, longboard in it, I don't know...grab some fast food? X3

I need some good 'safe' ideas of what to do with wearing a fursuit. I don't want random people tugging on my tail and spilling drinking on it. I really want to make a few
videos with it too. There aren't any other fursuiters around where I live; and very few furries in my town sadly : (

So, any ideas?

I would just go around town and see what happens. Having a spotter is a really good idea if you know someone though.

GO OUTSIDE.
ACQUIRE ATTENTION.
FEEL AWESOME.

But seriously. Bring friends (as spotters) and go to a park or mall or something. Have a ticker tape parade.
And shuffle. Do that. I demand a good fursuit shuffling video :D

If you are going to fursuit at a mall please don't enter the mall in suit.  Security will escort you out or, they will call the police.  Masks of any kind in malls are a bad idea.

But by all means as many of the other replies have said, go out with a spotter/friend and just do stuff!!

For the love of god please don't end up on people of walmart....

Park with friends = Good Idea
Mall= Bad Idea
ToysRus= Arrested for being a creepy child stalker

For all things, a time and a place. As fun as it may sound, going around in public areas alone in a fursuit is just asking for trouble. Please be conscientious of the fact that whether you want to or not, you are representing a group of people larger than yourself, your actions reflect upon that.

It really is best kept for events with the fandom but if you really MUST do things like malls, as the above poster suggested, call ahead to security and ask them for permission first.

Also, numbers matter:
4+ furries is a party
2-3 is a good time with friends
1 is a target

Have fun, but use your head.

I did not say to call ahead, I said DO NOT ENTER the mall unless you would like to be KICKED OUT or ARRESTED.  I agree with being alone makes you a target.......but that depends on your location. Malls will NEVER give permission to suit inside.

But the big thing is to have fun, go out with a friend or two, go do stuff in suit, just be safe and aware!

While i wish nobody would ever bother going into a mall in suit just because of the potential for negative interactions, the reality is, you CAN go to the mall in suit if you want...Security may or may not be irritated by this, if you call ahead you'll find most mall management would be accomodating if you give them the courtesy of calling ahead and giving them your details and a bit of an idea what you plan to do.

You will not "BE ARRESTED" for being in suit anywhere unless you're being completely inappropriate. It is not a crime to enter a private premises in suit, it may, however, be against their policies and proceedures and you are subject to being asked to leave the property. Read the Trespass Act (URL Below) for more details. Failing to leave after being asked results in "assault by trespass" and is basically overlooked entirely by police who will just make you leave and warn you not to come back in the same capacity. The mall may also place a 3-12 month ban on your entry to their property.

This is not me talking out of my ass, I've worked mall security at one of the most uptight places in the province. I can tell you for certain, you'd never be arrested for cooperating, and in some cases with the proper notice we may have allowed people to enter like that. If it goes well its great for the mall, if not, they can always give you the boot.

That said, stay out of malls, you'll look like a tool to the rest of the world.

More often than not you will just be asked to leave or escorted out. You can only get arrested for breaking the law, not for breaking the rules and regulations of a private building.
