While browsing through the web I came across following site (http://www.viisualpro.com/viewer.php?f=100314T9W) (it is safe to look at).
Before voicing an opinion this does raise a few questions.
Is this amusing?
Is this to be taken as a joke?
Is this how fursuiters want to be presented to the general public?
Does this harm the furry fanthom?
Interested in hearing opinions.
For the right individual I can assume that it would be amusing. But yes I feel that it is negative for the fandom; mainly when it is publicly available for non-furries to search up over the Internet.
Please do take into account that the suits worn there are the generic mascot costumes and that VERY few furries would do that with their personal costumes(by that I mean choose to pose like that for a website like that)
The same could be said about the infamous CSI episode...not a single personal suit was used in that episode(even tho there were furries in the episode)
i think it would affect the fandom yes but if your going to look that stuff up why not just watch the real thing instead of what it looks like XD
Those are not actual fursuiters, no one wears big poorly made suits like those, not to mention when is the last time you have seen characters that generic and poorly made? XD To me its actually more funny than distressing I just think "haha omg look at that fox and that chicken!"
Does it portray fursuiters in a bad light? Yeah sure but even our interest in cartoon animals does that all by itself within the confines of the mundane world, but hey in this fandom we do have people who enjoy that sorta thing and its really no big deal what someone decided to do in suit in private despite what some may say. (this includes the overly persecution paranoid types)

Well the main thing I was meaning is you can tell how cheap the materials are and often the heads and feet paws are enormous but despite that lack much intricate detail and the body suits themselves are often just very very baggy with loose fabric eveywhere. If you look at the pictures you can really tell as most of them are extremely baggy and their hands are nothing more than mittens. They are all pretty big giveaways that they are just mascots and not actual fursuits. X3
This has been around for a long long time, maybe 10 years? It's strictly an art exhibit, and I'm sure its resemblance to current furries is coincidental.

I think it is amusing but, only because I am a furry myself, and I look at this as a subtle mockery of the fandom intended, and presented, as a humorous exhibition. I think it is meant to be taken ONLY as a joke. As for being presented to the general public, well, as far as I can tell, the furry community would for the most part want to live as a coexistant group with the rest of society, without fear of stereotypes working their way into peoples' minds and thereby constructing maligned beliefs and perceptions of them. Take that to mean that I think no, this is not how they want to be presented, simply because this encourages the reinforcement of sustained steretypes that have already been around for far too long. Does this harm the furry fandom? Well, speaking as someone who has never fursuited, I think no, but my reasoning may be different. While I believe that it will contribute to incorrect beliefs about what the furry fandom is like, I am sure that now, as before, those most active within the community will have a tought enough skin to weather this kind of cynical storm.
And that's my two cents. Make o itf what you will. Lol :birdy:
Thank you all for sharing, much appreciated.
It can be considered a joke such as giving a dildo to your granmother (http://m.youtube.com/results?gl=CA&client=mv-google&hl=en&q=grandmother+gets+dildo+for+present&submit=Search) on her 80th birthday. It can be considered a pleasant family joke while for other it is a lack of respect to your elders or at least do not touch certain subjects with them (heck, they were your age once too!).
On the other hand it can place some furry veterans into a bad light, It may border the same subject when you see your favorite Disney characters or favorite toons in suggestive positions.
