CampFur
is starting to get ready for campers!
But I need some help!
I will be needing leads on all departments as this year, I am not doing it all myself.
CampFur 2012 is scheduled to take place again in June.
Location is yet to be determined, but I expect it will be in the same general area as last year.
Registration should begin before the end of February.
Some areas that I could see needing help with:
- Food
- Invention of the motorized rotisserie
- Site Services
- Outhouses
- Firewood
- Welcome / Registration
- Art Mosh
- Activities Coordinator
- ? ? ? ?
Feel free to contact me and let me know if you are interested!
CampFur 2011 was such a huge success and
2012 will be even more amazing!
Any takers??

yay Duffy! That was fast!! LOL I just posted!!! LOL
I can't wait. I will definitely be going this year. :D
I'm happy to help out, just tell me what to do.
and of course i'll still help you in cleanup and cooking stuff, like last year. one person shouldn't have to do all the work. and you did such an awesome job last year., and the menu was fucking awesome <3
i am hopping (erm, i mean hoping) to make it, but that will depend if it clashes with any of my shows, and if i cann afford to take the time off.
For food, I could load up a grocery card from my store and pick up all the camp meal basics. We'll need to discuss a budget, I'll put a set amount on the card and pick everything up myself. We can divide the cost evenly between everyone and you guys can pay me back later.
I'd get a bunch of extra points on my club account, so I'm happy to do it! :gay:
edit: I take it you don't trust me to handle food stock? D: The offer still stands.
I wanna go again this year. I had a blast last year :birdy: . It was pawsome to hangout and meet such wonderful people. :-3
Thanks again giz for last years camp fur
I think Loial and I could handle building a proper rotisserie, Gizmo; We'd been intending to do so anyways at some point.
I would be interested in attending
I'd be interested in attending this too, since, I missed last year, and it seemed like a lot of fun! :3 I'd be definitely interested in helping with cooking, activity coordinator and welcome / registration!! ^0^

For someone who doesn't know (like myself), where does CampFur usually take place?

Thats ok ... No one know exeactly where it will be ususally until about a week before. I can say - it will be located in the Coquihalla Valley just North east of Hope (very close to Hope) just off the Coquihalla Highway - Next to the Coquihalla River. It's governement crown land and cannot be 'reserved' however, I usually make plans to go up a week in advance and enlist a hearty soul who will camp in the spot we wish to occupy for the weekend. I come back and announce the exact location at that time.
Hope that helps!

Also ... Don't forget! Special VancouFur Con pricing is in effect from now until Sunday, March 18th! Make sure you register now to take advantage of the reduced pricing!

This sounds really cool but I'm still a little curious about what I'm in for. Can anyone run down what happened last year?

As the organizer, I have a bit of a slanted perspective, but I'll try ...
I arrived early (for registration and set up). There were few there on the Friday afternoon (Last year, we started things on Friday, not Thursday). People started arriving - hugs abound - lots of conversation and a little bit of wandering to scope out the locale. Saturday, a group went for firewood. Another went on a hike. I was busy preparing the meals. The weather wasn't the greatest on Fri or Saturday, but I brought a lot of tarps (as did others) so there was some tweaking of the tarp configuration. We all stayed very dry during the wet periods. By Saturday afternoon, the sun began to poke thru. The turkeys were bathing nicely in the hot oil and the fries were being delicately sliced by a few volunteers. The turkey kinda did us in for the evening as we spent most of the night hanging around our enlarged campfire - drawing, telling stories. There was a fair bit of drinking that night as we partied under my Christmas lights - being powered by the generator - to help light the way of those who were a bit too intoxicated. Sunday was a beautiful day - as all were starting to pack up. Some left a bit early but most stuck around. I (of course) was one of the last to leave. Everyone cleaned up well after themselves. The only thing left was the portable toilets (which had been arranged to be picked up on the next day). That's about it/
This year, I am hoping to have a couple local tours organized and perhaps an art table for people to sit and draw. We are running an extra day this year (but I do expect most to show up on the Friday anyway). The space we had last year was awesome, but would not suit the numbers I am expecting this year. This year, I have two spots in mind that would suit the numbers I am expecting - both are right by the river, one has large open spaces - the other is two sites that we could combine. Directions to the actual site will be sent out the week prior as I need to secure the spot, come back and send everyone directions.
Hope that answers your questions ... if not, let me know ...
Giz ...
@Giz that sounds awesome! Count me in!
As I signed up a loong time ago I am interested in helping with logistics. Definitely heading up registration, create signs if needed. During the event definitely willing to help out 3-4 hours each day.
Gizmo, you mentioned that you want to do a day trip up there and scout out the location. Please advise when you plan to do this in early June.
Furthermore I plan to get a car to bring participants and equipment on Thursday and back by Sunday. I'd be willing to help Renwaldo to do the purchase of food and items we need for the event.
Jase, if you plan to go there, I gotta be there as well to talk flying sausages ;D
For the record I am not actually responsible for providing the food. I offered to, but received no response. It should be assumed Gizmo has other plans concerning food. :3
