: Lego opening first BC store in mid April

I know there are quite a few of you who still share an interest in Lego so I share this with you (and any one else too):

I originally caught this in the Metro paper yesterday. Turns out, the Vancouver Sun has picked up on it and reported it through their website today as well.

i heard of this a few months ago.

if they have it set up like the one outside of seattle, it`ll be very cool, there they have a wall of drawers, each with a different brick element, and for a fixed price you get this cool lego plastic cup, which you fill with whatever you want from the selection in the drawers, the trick of coarse is to snap all the pieces together, so that you can cram more into the cup.

at the belleville store one time, i filled the cup full the normal way with 2x3 brown plate, then dumped out the contents and snaped them together, and was able to put in the same quantity two 'yes' two more time, getting a lot more for my money.

for awhile online people used to post and boast how many elements into a cup, and showed how they did it.

I wasn't aware of there already being one down in Seattle. Then again, I hadn't really bothered to look since my mind was on a ton of other things back then.

I'm now wondering if they will only have limited selection of pieces. I would love being able to go to the store and pick up a bunch of parts for my old sets that have either lost or broken parts over the years.

if like the other, the store will have most if not all currently produced sets, and the wall of pieces, the selection is usually comprised of pieces currently in production, and will cycle thru, so a good idea when seeing a part you like, is to stock up hile you can, just in case.

to find 'out of production' pieces to complete older sets, try out bricklink.com, it`s the amazon/ebay of the lego world.

+1!

I've been to a small lego store in Oregon. Pretty awesome. I better consider a trip to Oakridge which is not too far from where I'm at. Say, we should have a bit of a meetup there guys for an hour or two!  :D

Heh... already knew about bricklink, plus a few other places online. But thanks for the reminder anyways.

I have a friend online, who has helped me to find some items, in the past. (Bought a big truck, trailer and race car from them) Problem is, I only see them online occasionally. Then there is shipping to worry about.

Going to be a loooong wait. :\

remind me to look into bricklink for you, see if you know all the tricks i know, do you know the part numbers of the pieces your looking for (if not, i can help), and you have the set numbers handy? (easier to find with)

one year i spent over 5,000.00 on bricklink, and bricklink allowed me to build my dining room size lego table.

It isn't too hard to figure out. I haven't made an account on the site because I wasn't sure if I'd be using it enough to make it worth while.

Very cool. Some friends of mine used to have Lego parties on occasion - this might be something to build a furmeet around sometime.

oh yes, i do have a bunch of the fabuland figures, and yes you should google images 'fabuland'.

there are rules online for :

lego wars and/or brickwars, which is like war hammer BUT better, when things blow up, you take apart or destroy the built item, and if someone loses a hand, leg, or torso, you simply remove them, and clear red 1x1 round plate pieces can be used for BLOOD

brickquest, is just like d&d but lego, with 3d diorama rooms.

then there is JUNKYARD WARS, yes just like that old show, you are given a challenge, then you have 1 hour, to build somethings that will help you to win the challenge.

i would be up for junkyard wars any time i am free, and can provide almost everything needed, inc. the lego, the other two may need some pre-planing.

did you google image "fabuland', 'no?', if not, WHATS wrong with you???, do it NOW!

@the prof: They should remake fabuland minifigs, for sure. xP

I might buy some lego pieces for the sake of it from the shop. 'Cause if you buy too much, you'll run into a 1st world problem:

The Lego stores do have interesting sets at their stores, but expect to pay a premium compared to somewhere like Toys'r'us.
