So my male rat Cujo, who was lying in his cage prostrate and apparently dead earlier, is ALIVE. I don't know how the hell he did it, but he pulled through, and he's been picked up to go see a 24 hour emergency vet.
I cannot pay this bill, so I might be fucked over. If you guys could buy anything, whether it be a badge or a tail or a pair of ears or even a full suit, that would be amazing. It means so much to me that Cujo's okay, and if he pulls through, well, holy shit, this guy's a survivor. My teddy bear. <3
I will make literally fucking anything. I don't even care at this point, as long as it's some money towards getting Cujo what he needs to pull through. This boy is like a child to me, and I'll do almost anything to make sure he lives.
So, you know, if you even need someone to come clean your place or cook you dinner or bake you a cake or whatever, just let me know.
Update: He probably won't make it. Well, bollocks ;---;
You have a zombie rat.
I definitely do. Brittany said to call him Zombie from now on. I think Cujo expresses it fine, though. =D
Lol...
Moro's sister, Ni, died of some sort of body stiffening disease. She couldn't move her hands, her feet, eventually her back was arched permanently. But she could still run and jump, just stiffly. I couldn't take her to the vet, I did research on her treatments and there was none for her. She was still happy, and played with me and Moro. She wasn't in pain. Then one night she passed in her sleep. I knew it was coming. Still didn't stop me from crying for weeks. And Moro was devastated.

That's always devastating, but what a good way to live the rest of her life! The way you care for your animals is amazing, you show so much love. Any critter would be lucky to live its life with you.
Thank you hon. That's very sweet of you to say.
Sometimes I go overboard... like when someone has an animal and they are doing something that can harm or kill it I kinda jump on them and freak out... I've met about 4 people that had ferrets and gave them pine in their litter and I told them they are allergic to it and it causes respiratory diseases and to not give it to them. They freaked back at me and kept giving them the litter... One died of bleeding lung problems...
Another example was a girl on the internet bought a rat and mouse baby and put them together. I told her to separate them because when the rat grew up it would kill the mouse. They are enemies and right now smell like babies. She ignored me and told me I was wrong. A year later she messages me, (she ignored me for that long), and blames me for her rat killing her mouse. Yes, BLAMES me for it. Saying I wasn't serious enough or making any excuse.
When I get an animal I learn all that there is to know about caring for it, and the do's and don'ts. Working in the reputable pet store I was in, I learned that 90% of the customers don't do that. And I was so proud to work there because we would either teach them how to take care of the animal, or we would tell them to come back when they are ready. Or give them a different animal that suits their needs better.
Like one time a family came in, and wanted a puppy because their 7 year old son wanted one. But they weren't sure he'd take care of it cause he's never had an animal. So I told them to get a pair of rats. And to treat them just like dogs. They are easier to care for, and they don't live nearly as long, and are much cheaper to keep. So they did. Four months later, they came back and bought a puppy. Not only did this prepare them, but their kid as well. They said he did so well with the rats they wanted a puppy too. And they got to learn how to train the rats to do tricks and prepared themselves for training the puppy.
I was very happy to work there. I miss it.
O.O Jesus, neither of those are even remotely okay!
When I was a small child, I was in the park with my mom and my dog Charlie, who unfortunately had to be put down when I was ten. Anyway, there was another lady with a dog, who was very enthusiastic to meet me, and jumped on me. This lady was not happy about it, and instead of scolding her dog or leash correcting, she called the dog over, made it lay on it's belly, and then began BEATING it with the CHAIN PART of it's leash. My mom snapped, took the dog by the collar, and held it until a representative from the SPCA could get there to take the dog away.
I used to work at a pet store, too! I didn't have the authority to refuse to sell animals to customers, but my manager sure did, and I made sure he did if the customers weren't ready. I had so many people insisting upon buying chinchillas, and then bathing them in water, or putting a brand-new dominant male rat in with another dominant male in a pre-established cage, and then blaming us for the ensuing bloodbath.
That's a really heartwarming story <3 I'm glad the kid got his puppy!

I wouldn't call the SPCA now a-days. I don't support them in any way. They spay and neuter kittens at 4, 6 or 8 weeks old. HALF of the females never make it. One woman came into the pet store all the time to buy dog food. And she tried for THREE years to adopt a dog from the SPCA. And they constantly denied her and didn't give her any reason. She told them to bring someone by her house to see it's suitable. She had two other dogs, and FOUR achers of fully fenced land. It use to be for sheep and now it was just empty. The dog was 8 when she tried adopting it, and they said no every time for no reason. She showed us pictures of the land, and the dog she wanted to take in. She did everything she could. I just found out recently the SPCA put the dog down. Yup. Fucked up shit right there. And they now require references for owners. So you cannot be a new owner. Bullshit too.
Chinchilla's were the hardest for our store to sell. One, they need a TON of space. Two, they are better in pairs. Three, they live 20+ years. Four they cannot be around loud noises, or rambunctious children because they can have a heart attack. Even dogs and cats can give them a heart attack. They need a dust bath every day, so on and so forth. They are sweet, and cuddly, but live just as long as a small parrot. So pretty much only people that had a chinchilla before would buy one. Other people were turned off at the requirements.
When we sold any animal, and they didn't buy a cage, we always asked what kind of cage they had set up at home. If it was too small, we would say no. They would need to buy a bigger cage. They didn't have to get it from us, but it had to be bigger because that's the requirements of the animal. We sold family members, not pets. If someone had a rat, and wanted another, we told them they HAVE to have two separate cages. Because there is an 85% chance that they will fight to the death, both male or female. Same with mice and guinea pigs and rabbits. With birds, we told them they needed a permanent second cage. Because even if the birds get along at first, once puberty comes along, they can either kill each other, or at least get near it. Blaze gets aggressive to Haku because he's reached maturity. But it went away once August was over. I kept him separate for the time. Now he's good.
Degus are the same as chinchillas. Very social, need dust baths, etc. Anyone in the store working there had authority to say no. Even the new workers. I was told that the first time I started.
