I've just read a couple posts on here by local furs talking about currently being in, or recently having completed a culinary training programme.
Knowing of at least one other Vancouver area fur who has a culinary career I'm curious how many are out there.
I'm actually gonna be jumping into Culinary Arts in the winter semester... so yah :3
I'm an in training chef :3
I'm going to be going to VIU for training, then I plan to apprentice or about a month in restaurants around the world to get my skills honed and to learn exotic tastes. stops on the list are: England, Germany, Russia, Greece, Italy, Morocco, Newfoundland, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, Southern USA, and Ecuador. not in that order, I'm going from west to east...
a year around the world, although it might not happen until I'm in my thirty :(
I am a line cook in Gastown. I've never went to school for it, but I've been in kitchens since I could work. Keep yo knives sharp.
newfieland is exotic? o.O hehe
and yeah, I been a line cook before... its nice work and been cafeteria supervisor too :3
I graduated from AI's culinary program in March. Now I'm a line cook at an Earl's.
I want to get into bakery as a "backup" career in case my career-less simple life goal fails horribly. Right now I bake a few cakes and other pastries once in a while; just to have tasty baked goods that doesn't have 600 pounds of sugar or chocolate flavor buried in it. Like the ones found in stores or café lol.
Edit: Would be nice to share recipes of salty or sweet baked stuff with other furs. Maybe even make some and eat together ^^
I cooked like a mad balla last night.

That looks amazing
I'm really surprised to see so many people in, or into the culinary career track. I'm pleased though, and wish luck to those of you who only know school so far.

this sounds like fun, should add a "food" section to the creators board (hint hint mods)
I baked a bunch of cinnamon rolls yesterday. They're almost gone now... I think my roommates might have something to do with their disappearance, investigation to follow.

^ I really want to see and/or show baked goods that aren't sweet! And learn some new dishes (even though I'm not interested in general cooking as a career home made "special" dishes are good once in a while ^^)

Recipe I got from the Metro rag on Friday. It's chicken thigh rolled with Prosciutto and Monty Jack cheese. The sauce is made primarily of white wine, whipping cream, chicken broth and chicken drippings. Super easy to make.. I just made a boat load of sauce :P
I MISS YOUR COOKING CARTHAGE! hehehee. I have to go to Micheal's to eat amazing dishes now :s He is really good at it. You would have LOVED his moose roast !
I went to Vancouver Community College for Culinary school. but its not my occupation.
But i am an AMMMMMMMAZING cook!
Guys, rainbow cake. It has to be done.

Four mystery ingredients, 20 minutes, only your instinct and tastebuds to guide you... could you do it?
(hijacked from another thread)
we should totally do this
group competition, "chopped" style elimination? :b

Hnnnnngg, if we did this, I wouldn't be able to decide if I wanted to be a judge or a competitor x3
I wanna be both, lol >_______<
i wanna be a judge!! X3
i almost got into that, went for regular arts instead of culinary arts. though i have a huge passion for bakery goods. i make a mean buttermilk biscuit. though i think part of why is that i grew up in a heritage Finnish colony so i was treated to a wide verity of dishes. seeing that i am allergic to fish, most of what i enjoy was the sweets and pastries. its amazing i was not fat as a child. though i have not been baking in years due to not much time, not as good of kitchens and getting fat so i cant eat what i cook much anymore. every now and then i experiment with dinner baked stuffs and stove top creations, though i have never been able to get a good soup right. its my dream to finally recreate my favorite soup just the way they do it in home style restaurants. creamy Italian tomato and vegetable and bean.... delicious.
