: Naniamo old pirate law
: Lt ReiStark June 25, 2011, 04:44:40 -06:00
What many people don't know is that Naniamo used to be known for smugglers and even late pacific pirates, and many old laws are still in effect there from when the town was born over one hundred yeas ago in the 1860s, the outlaws provided some pocket money income into the town that was a mining town at the time.

-----------------------------------

actually confirmed bi-laws:

#1 You may carry a blade with you IF you are escorting a lady and you do not draw it unless your life or her's is in danger. BUT the blade must be visible, therefore not a concealed weapon.
(PS: it doesn't say your blade can't be a six foot claymore, or even a battle condition katana)

#2 Assault is legal if someone tells/dares you to attack them.
(you can't cause anything more than pain, breaking bones or anything like that still counts, but you can give them a bloody nose and a black eye)

#3 Your boat is allowed any flag without questions.
(This was to support the business the smugglers gave them)

-------------------------------------------------------

unconfirmed and are probably lies:

#1 You may carry explosives.
(Sorry but NOOOOO, thats just a dumb one)

#2 you can [censored] people if you warn them first.
(That started from the joke of yelling "Surprise" before you [Censored for forum rules] them)

#3 you can't call someone a "sinker"
(Made up insult about drowning)

I'm not sure but its probably a man escorting a woman, the women's rights movement didn't exist yet back then...
