I am about to start fifth quarter at The Art Institute of Vancouver. This is my final quarter, and before I graduate I have one last major assignment: I must make a Music Video.
The criteria for this assignment are as follows:
-It must use an original song.
-It can be lyrical or instrumental.
-The visual aspect must "give life to the music."
Whoever gets this music video is entirely up to whoever is willing to accept my services. Since I am a nobody, no major record label-signed musician or music group will look my way.
This is where all of you come in.
I want to make a furry music video. Ideally, it would be a music video for a furry musician or group, using a furry-content song, and starring furry actors.
Now, I want this to be made absolutely clear: Nobody need know that this is a furry-themed project, officially. The video concept has to be pitched and documented in class, but all of the official documentation and planning can read "mascot". The visual content does not need to be blatantly furry, but rather in can incorporate furry actors. The band does not have to be entirely composed of furries, but can be one open to doing a video with costumed actors, and the song does not have to be explicitly furry, but open enough to allow for an anthropomorphic visual interpretation.
However, let it also be known that Ai is friendly to costumed creatures. The head of the film department loves mascots. She lights up whenever she sees that I have included "mascot" content in my projects. She practically jumped on one when I brought him on campus for a green screen shoot. Furthermore, this is the same person who allowed me the school's equipment to film Howloween. Music videos incorporating animal characters are not uncommon at Ai, as those of us who are students will attest to the looping demo reels playing in our halls. But I want to do more than just put someone in an animal head.
Why do I want to make a furry-themed project rather than something more mundane? In all of my projects so far, I have found that if you add anthropomorphism into the content, I become creatively inspired like nothing else. I double and triple my resolve. Sairys Wolf and Rennie Fox will attest to this in their cooperation with my portfolio this past year. My instructors in the film program have encouraged me to peruse whatever is personal and meaningful to me. I pitched a "mascot" silent film. I pitched a "mascot" short film. I was allowed to film Howloween because someone thought there might be a documentary in it. I created a "mascot" commercial. I was originally to cast a "mascot" in my PSA. I created a "mascot" transitions project. I brought a "mascot" to the green screen shoot and he wound up starring in 12 of 13 projects. I just spent the last quarter writing an hour-long pilot for an anthro-centered dramatic television series.
Nobody at Ai knows that I am a furry, but everyone knows that animals and mascots are my reoccurring motif.
What I need are a musician/band, a song, a good solid concept, and anyone who is willing to participate. The sooner I have these things, the sooner we can get started. The video must be completed when the quarter ends in mid-September. That gives us three months to make something really good.

I have some singing talent, but am only good for some types of music. Obviously, if a band gets this, they will most likely already have a singer. Just putting it out there.

I'm also readily on campus at least twice a week depending on classes so i'm easy to get a hold of if needed.
That sounds like fun- I'm part of a band but I don't know if they'd be interested since I'm the only member who is into furry stuff. But I'll ask them anyways. Either way I wouldn't mind helping out.

Sounds like a great idea Univaded Fox, count me in. I can't sing or dance, but have done extra work in the past and other things along that lines. A thought, bit on the selfish lines, we wanted to do some video stuff for the convention, just putting that out there (wink)

Thanks everyone for your interest so far. Classes do not start until July, so it will be at least three weeks before anything gets locked down or committed and the serious planning (dates, times, locations, ect) can begin. Right now I am mainly putting out feelers and spreading the word for who can point me to some music and who would be interested in being a part of this. Also, if you have any video ideas, feel free to post them (although final concepts are subject to the content of the music chosen)

You can always sneak in a photo of a suiter from here at best to put in the BG of your video. It'll still be just as effective.
