VancouFur Artist Auction Fundraiser

So! To get the ball rolling, VancouFur is in need of donations and fundraising.

I propose a Multi-Artist Auction. (ALL PROCEEDS WILL GO TO VANCOUFUR!)

About:
-Hosted on Furbuy
-Depending on how many people want to contribute, i may split up the artists to make several different auctions.
-Only one auction will be held at a time to avoid any confusion.
-There is no set commission type you must do. You can offer what you CAN or have TIME to do. (One person might do a sketch while another might to a fully coloured image.)
-If you work traditionally, it is up to YOU to notify ME if you are willing to send the original and at what cost, if any.
-It doesn't HAVE to be commission based. If you have original art it can be added to the mix as well. Please be sure to give me shipping prices and instructions to post in the auction.
-REMEMBER: Participating in this auction, you have entered into a legal contract. Provided the client PAYS, you MUST complete your piece. If there are problems, COMMUNICATE with the client. (Winner's email will be provided to you and your emails will be provided to the client to ENSURE that communication happens.)

If you have any questions please ask me.
I've done multi-artist auctions and regularly work with clients, so if you have any concerns feel free to post or note me about it. :3

Need to get some information together ASAP. If you have any concerns about anything about this auction please ask. :3
The more serious stuff (legalities) are quite simple if what i've said catches anyone on a rough note, feel free to ask about it.

I myself will be contributing art but what i'll be contributing will depend on when the auction will be held. Which depends on response time from volunteers.

I will also make a point of "pimping" out all the volunteers/contributors in any journals regarding this auction and will feature you and a few of your art pieces in my galleries. (FA, DA, LJ, IB, FC, etc.)

Just a note. You do NOT have to offer something big. You can offer anything you feel you have the time to contribute. Sketches, flat colours, chibi's, anything. Even small crafts or even if you have old furry related books, posters, prints, etc that you want to get rid off.

Cmon guys! I want to do 5 artists per auction and the more the merrier! :D

Hello Temrin, how goes it with the art auction? Is there a web link to the art up for auction, and how is the interest in it?

As you can see on the top post, there are examples of what the 4 artists are offering on the top post. I am wanting to get a few more artists before starting it up. (School has just started back up so its been a little busy.)

@ Master Coal
As i mentioned in the thread you opened up asking about fundraising, it will be hosted VIA Furbuy.com. (Theres some other options but i've used FB the most.)

@ K
Anything helps! :D Do you have any examples of the keychains?

I suppose I could put one of my Sketchbooks 'o Doom in the pile (The leather-bound Necronomicon-looking handmade tomes), *but* I would need to receive the cost of materials out of the auction. They're about $30 to build, and I can't presently afford to replace materials. :(

: Temrin July 05, 2011, 01:28:54 -06:00
Do you happen to have an image of what these look like?
I think we can manage that. We'll see what we can do about the material costs. :3 I'll keep you posted~

It would be great if you guys could fill out the form

Just figured out shipping. Should be fine. I'd be willing to make 2-3 keychains and 1-2 chibi commissions. Assuming all proceeds go to the VancouFUR con, I won't charge any personal fees for my work. But I also can't guarantee the perfect art, I'm still learning to do full sized pictures. So for both Keychains and Commissions, they will be Chibi Drawings. I may be able to do more depending on if my local stores bring in the supplies i need...

Other than that i should be fine. I'll contact you if there are any problems or Visa Versa

I kind of want to help contribute, but I've always worried my art isn't quite up to a point that someone would want it.  I don't usually work in traditional stuff (mostly digital drawings).

Examples of my work can be found here : http://www.furaffinity.net/user/fazar/ (http://www.furaffinity.net/user/fazar/)

Frazer, artwork be it digital or scetches, oil or pencle crayon, is art to someone. I wouldn't worry to much about the medium, I took a look at your FA site, not bad at all. If you want to donate some works to the cause it would be appreciated. If you can make it to the dance on the 16th bring some along and your scetch book, there will be a few artists doing some drawings there.

I'll get one once I'm finished moving, Temrin. I'm not even sure where my camera is, and most of the books are packed.
: Re: VancouFUR Fundraiser - ARTISTS/CRAFTERS WANTED
: Temrin July 09, 2011, 01:06:24 -06:00
@Fazar
Your work is pretty well done! Auctioned items dont have to be traditional either. If you do digital, really all you would do, is the winner would contact you (or you would contact them) and they would give you a character of theirs to draw. They might tell you what they want their character doing and you would draw it for them. :3

If you'd like any more explanations for that, note me and i'll be happy to give you a better idea of what commission based work is like and what to expect. ^^

If you still want to contribute, please fill out the application form thats on the first post.

@Selkit
When abouts do you figure you'll be done moving? (at least, done enough that you can provide these images?)
Just curious because i'd love to include you in the auction, if your moving will take quite some time it'll give me an approximate time frame to work with to find some more people before the first auction :3

At this point. I'm sure most of the artists have forgotten about this due to me not having the time to get everything organized.

Coal, i can give you links to the artists pages and you can contact them if you wish too. I just don't have the time. Switching up my schedule to try and give me a little breathing room and focus more on a future career as well as finals are soon. Sorry about this, volunteering time just isn't available right now. when i first started, i had quite a bit of time but getting to artists together and trying to split things up evenly for at least 2 auctions just didn't happen. :/

I'm very sorry.
I'm sure i will have things leftover from RF and i'd be more then happy to offer some things to fundraise for you guys or even, if someone takes over this auction, i can offer them in as well.

As i mentioned before Coal, i'll totally give guidance to any who takes on the auction. If you can contact them, i'll find some HOW TO's to link you about hosting an auction. I will of course, continue to advertize for VancouFur! :3

I also have been talking to the head of Furbuy, Jurann, after an incident with a charity fundraiser was uploaded (not by me. by someone else. they didn't know what to do to help their friend so i suggested a multi artist auction.) It's come my attention that multi-artist auctions are actually forbidden on furbuy and has been for a few years. (Some do fly under the radar and don't get shut down. I guess thats what happened to the ones i've been involved in.) It makes sense, Each artist must be accountable for their own auction, separate auctions will probably gain more revenue anyways, and when an artist flakes on their part, if its part of one big auction, the winner might give a bad review to the owner of the account even if its not their fault :/ COLLABORATION auctions are STILL allowed as long as its two+ artists working on ONE prize/art piece.

Jurann is currently trying to find a Community Lead for the site, as he's been pretty much doing everything, hense why no updates have really been happening to the site. (He's apparently got a huge to-do list and one of them is to create a system that will allow artists to host their separate auctions but have them all linked back to a host page on the site that will give information about a fundraiser or charity and give links to all the auctions involved in this effort. Though, without a community lead, he's not got much time to do much. So i have no idea when that will be done. -shrugs- So your best bet, is to try a different system for now. Furbid, Dealers Den, etc. I can't be of much help on those sites but as far as i've been told, theres FAQ's for the sites that will allow you to figure out how to do it.)

Aaaaaanyways. Yup. Figured i'd let you guys know that info incase someone still wants to do this.
