I wanna make a coat for myself but I have no idea where to start I'll be looking up on google after I post but if anyone has any tips or suggestions I'll gladly take them.
The coat I want to make is from one piece something similar to pops coat but different color scheme

I saw in a cosplay site (though for another character) a similar coat

but the materials don't look so good to me, eh maybe Im just picky?

Buy an old trench with the same cut you want from a thrift store. Then take it apart and use the pieces as your pattern for the fabric of your choosing.
I need to be honest though, and not to discourage you too much, but the tailored look of that particular pattern is a huge undertaking for someone who's never sewed. Before you tackle anything like this why not practice on making a couple simple tee-shirts or boxer shorts.
I'm just taking a look and seeing if I am able to do it or not, if it gets too complicated i might just get it commissioned
I'd recommend getting it commissioned then. The design you're looking at is quite complex. :-\
Sorry! I just don't want you to make an expensive mistake.
It's doable to make the coat, but finding a plain white trench and adding to it would be a lot easier. Most of that that is easily constructable onto an existing coat.
That said, look up coat patterns and find a long-coat, then add a stewpid amount of length to the tail. You can always cut back if it's too large, so aim for over sized initially then scale it down till you get it right.
Worked a bit on the coat design that I want on an old picture I had sketched.

not much changes from the ones I posted before I just think those colors work best anyway.

I have a normal coat about just as long as those, kind of like the coats they used in the matrix movie, but much simpler. I can see how adding the extra things to this coat would save a lot of money and work. I'll be looking around for a white one and if comes down to it I don't mind commissioning one and I'm not in a hurry x3
