: Got tolled out for writing on fogged glass
: kohl April 15, 2011, 01:54:26 -06:00
Just heading home minding my buisness. I reach the Skytrain platform and all the glass panels are fogged. I start drawing, with my finger, furry heads on a bunch of panels. Two Skypigs show up and threaten to boot me off the platform if I didn't stop.

Things like this make me grump and grouse about anarchistic notions. Then I realize that if I got my wish, we'd have idiots running loose with substances nearly as energetic as TNT, in close quarters and high volumes, with arms capable of killing at the twitch of a finger, in a world where a single delivery vehicle can lay down a warhead that'll scorch a whole city to the foundations. Then the anarchistic ideals stop looking quite so good. But I still can't say I'm terribly happy about the level of policing present. It's fucking water vapor. Not paint. Nothing offensive. Get the fuck off your government-appointed high horse, acknowledge that you're an overglorified rent-a-cop emplaced to protect the profit margins of a bloated monopolistic service-handler, and go be Forever Alone in your desire to control whatever little shred of human happiness you can, somewhere else.

When the hell did rent-pigs become censors?

"I apologize, but I am not sure what rule am I breaking, officer. Can you inform me?"

Sometimes when on a power-trip, all a person needs to be reminded of is the scope of what they can or cannot enforce. If ever an officer approaches you and demands you stop doing something you do not believe is against the law, just politely and passively inquire what rule you are breaking. You might find out what rule has been written to stop your activities, they may leave you alone, or they may continue the power-trip and try to fabricate something, but if they fabricate you now have clear evidence they are out of line.

I prefer my method.

Call 604-953-3040 and complain about the cops right in front of them.  Get their names.  If they don't give them, "Well you're required to get my name when I commit an offence, now I need your name because you're offending me."

There really is no rule that says you can't draw on the glass.  I've seen bus drivers do it.

I was not suggesting there is a rule for writing on fogged glass.

Also, sometimes going for your cellphone isn't an option.

Yes it is.  Police are citizens of Canada that are bound by the same laws as the rest of us.  You can demand that a police officer discontinues communication immediately if they are not charging you.  If they don't then you can arrest them right there for harassment and disturbing the peace.

Everyone needs to stop pussying out for the cops or they will fucover whoever they feel for no reason, and then laugh at your misfortune.

You are jumping to baseless conlusions and making some grand assumptions about what I am saying if you believe I am defending any authoritative figure abusing their power, or suggesting one should not report such acts.

No, pulling out your cellphone isn't an option when an officer has already drawn their firearm or has you detained already and your cell-phone is in your pocket.

I had an incident in my past where I glanced inside an open police car as I walked by just as the cops were coming back to the cruiser; I thought it was strange a cop car would be just sitting there with windows rolled down and no one inside. The cops immediately demanded I move around to the back of the vehicle and place my hands upon it.

In this scenario, going for my cellphone in my pocket could send some very mixed signals to an officer, one that could get me injured. I was not about to do that. Instead I complied with the order and requested to know what exactly I had done wrong. Luckily, I was steps from my home so my parents were also there to make this request, take notes and then file a complaint.

Already proven to work.  When a cop initiates conversation:  "If you are not charging me with a crime, go away."  They are legally obligated to comply.

They claimed it was a desecration of property.
Me: It'll be gone by morning
Him: Well I don't know
Me: Can I lean on it? Can I lean againts the glass, would that be alright?
Him: Well ah... [He walks away]
Jacket stencils might be used

I wonder if my sand drawings could be considered desecration of property. I like momentary art.
