Well you said I should post here concerning tails, Kitty. I'm still very interested in getting a skunk tail made. I do have a design, shape and position in mind, but first I want to know some basics like average pricing and average build times if you can say :)
I appreciate any info or advice!
Thankies!
If your looking to make the tail yourself, then it can take as long as you want(hand sewing is soooooooo slow it, takes me about 3hrs to sew a 3' 6" cat tail by hand) or as short as you want(machine sewing is nice but you have to spend the time to pull the fur fibers out of your seams, I can sew a tail on a sewing machine in 30mins but I then have to spend 1-2hrs plucking the fibers out of the seams to make the tail look seamless) As for costs making it can cost $30-$80 for a self made tail(Costs in materials can very greatly depending on quality)
Hope that helps some!!
Hehe I don't think I have quite the skills in making such a thing. I would have to go the path of commission. Actually it would be kinda fun to work with someone to make it. Learn from the skilled, as it were hehe
Ah ya, I hadn't really thought of it that way. I do almost all my sewing by hand. My whole fox suit was done that way. The only thing I machine stitched was the underliner as it didn't have to be clean and wasn't furred.
Three hours is pretty good for hand sewing a cat tail. That is provided you don't get too distracted. When people asked me how long it took me to work on my suit, I just that I never kept track, two years maybe? Mind you that was started while I was working at the time too, evenings and weekends when I had the right mood to put work in to it.

Getting it 'properly' stuffed, ya that can take a little bit of time. It kind of depends on the shape I found out.

Can you count me in on that too? I'm suppose to be finishing up a fox tail for a long distance friend.. well once I figure out where my white fur for the tip went.
