I was wondering if you guys could recommend to me any good animes.  :)
I've been watching all the old Digimon episodes since September, and I'm on the last season now. What should I start on next?

I like Slayers (even the dub is good), Death Note (sub), and if you are in a shoujo-girly mood, Full Moon wo Sagashite (sub) is adorable. I haven't really seen many animes recently to be of much use. lol

I have a friend who is obsessed with Deathnote.

On that note, have you ever heard of one called Ghost Stories? You can find it on youtube, the english dubs are hilarious. It's a kids show in japanese, but when the American translators got a hold of it they made it an R rated series.  ;D The ratings were so poor over in Asia that the producers told the American broadcasters to do what they like with it to make the ratings better over here.

coeboy bebop, trigun, rurouni kenshin, uummm..... afro samurai  ........ just to name a few. ghost in the shell. just depends what your into.

It really depends on what you like.  Things similar to digimon?  You might like Dragonball and Dragonball Z. .hack//sign was good too, if you don't mind a bit of a head trip.  Ergo Proxy is also great, but a lot darker and more serious ... also another head trip.

Digimon Seasons

I love digimon so much. My favourite season was the first and I enjoyed three. My friends know about anime more than I do though >.>

My favourite was. . . I think it was the 5th season? The one with Takato and Jerry?
Some very serious scenes in that one, watching them on youtube apparently bits were cut out for american audiences because white kids are pussies.  :P Like Jerry's possession and nightmare, demonic puppets and undead mothers and whatnot.

'What is Cowboy Bepop about?'

Cowboy Bebop revolves around a crew of bounty hunters living in the spaceship named Bebop. They are a team of bounty hunters who travel the Solar System trying to apprehend bounties. Jet Black is the owner of the Bebop who has partnered with Spike Spiegel for his diverse combat skills. During their travels, the Bebop ship gained new crew members such as Ein, Faye, and Edward.
Throughout the series Bebop crew members' pasts catch up with them, and the series regularly turns to the history of the main characters in flashbacks.The day-to-day life of the crew is also explored throughout the series.

cowboy bebop is awesome, and has an equally awesome soundtrack, that's all you really need to know. Oh, and the English dub is perfect.

I also love Hellsing... prefer the one that sticks to the manga, the story is just that much better.

And One Piece for insane bad guys... sooo colourful!!

Huh, I would never guessed.
In the few snatches of art/fanart that I've seen of it, I assumed it was basic modern manga of a normal teen boy living out his normal teen life in a zany fashion.
It sounds way better than that though. XP

I never really got into Hellsing, but I had a friend who read it for a while. Actually there aren't a lot of gothic or horror ones that I've tried. Except for Witch Hunter Robin when YTV played it in '05.

Also Ebichu, which is also messed up but in a much more light-hearted way.

I just started reading Higurashi!  Almost finished the arc, and I really like it.  Crazy-scary mangas and animes are my kind of thing, but not something I recommend to just anyone.

Watchin Escaflowne right now. It's kind of nostalgic, I remember I was seven when this show was first released in English.

Make sure you get the origianl one and not the 4-kids/ytv version.  They cut the first episode!

But I don't know any Asianese!!!

That's what subtitles are for.  They also, sometimes, make dubs of the whole series, from multiple sources.  Might want to do that "internet searching" thing to learn a little about what you're gonna watch. :P

I'm pretty sure the one I'm watching isn't the 4kids version though, at least it seems pretty complete to me.

Pretty easy to tell.  In the first episode, did Van slide the heart of a dragon?  Or did it start with Hitomi and Van already in his world?  Also, Van swears a lot.

Either way, it is a good series.  Just makes a little more sense because entire episodes aren't cut.

Serial Experiments Lain (about the internet, life and death, and the collective unconscious)
Gankutsuou (a scifi-fantasy take on the count of montecristo with an amazing art style)
Ranma 1/2 (about ridiculous martial arts antics and relationships. warning the series goes on forever and does really have an ending)

Also, if you have not done so, watch all the Studio Ghibli movies.

I love Ghibli! My parents got me Spirited Away and Totoro for christmas. I've already watched them both a bunch of times.  ;D

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind is also very very very very good <3

I liked that one too. You notice the robots in that movie are the same as the robots in Laputa?

Just a few most series I've watched in no particular order:

Higurashi - I came many times. Satoshi could buy me a giant bear any day.
D-Gray.man - They REALLY need to continue this.
Gurren Lagann
Bleach - Most people hate this for the filler, but I think it adds so much depth to the series it's crazy. Also, I'm pretty sure it has one of the best story lines out there. ESPECIALLY with the recent episodes.
Cowboy Bebop - Bang. 'nuff said.
Claymore
Fate Stay Night
Black Lagoon
Death Note
Eden of the East - Only watched a bit of this, but it looked pretty awesome.
Ergo Proxy
Full Metal Alchemist - <3 the 7 deadly sins.
Inuyasha - I used to watch this religiously back in highschool. Still haven't finished it.

Pretty much all of these I'd rate 9/10 or 10/10.

Spice and Wolf is very odd (man meets wolf spirit; wolf spirit teaches him about business) but well-done.

Oh man. ^ I had that series FORCED upon me. Watch all but the last three minutes of it, the whole series was chipping away at your sense of sanity building up to the final blow and only you'll realize this when it's to late. lovely crack series.

I'm watching Spice and Wolf right now, it is a little bit girly but I sense some foreshadowing to violence and conflict, so I'm going to keep watching.

I also discovered another season of Digimon that I wasn't aware of, so I'm also continuing with that.

I managed to get the full season, subtitled, of Wagaya no Oinari sama (Our home's Fox deity) a few years back when it first came out. Now, it has been licensed for north America but I have yet to see any DVD copies of it.

I need to get back to PSwGB myself - watched a couple episodes when someone pointed me at it. It's pretty cracky, yes.

Mmm... crack. Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt surpassed FLCL in weirdness... which is VERY HARD to achieve in the Anime world.

Has anybody mentioned Kyo Kara Mao? its about a boy who gets flushed down the toilet and ends up in another world. very standard plot but good action and jokes, the main character accidentaly proposes marage to another guy by b**** slapping him across the face for being rude.

Bleach and Naruto are pretty popular. I haven't watched them myself, but I have heard they are good.
Also Soul Eater, Zombie Loan, Highschool of the Dead, WhichBlade, D.grey man, Pumpkin scissors, Maid war, Rosario + Vampire, Tri gun, Chobits, Chi's sweet home, Guran Lagen, Durarara are all great animes. Ive seen them all and can say there worth wasting your life on. Thought I would add those onto the list of awesome.

Planetes. No seriously. It was awesome. Great dub. Great scifi, awesome characters. Realistic near future. I liked it a lot.

I've read the first two books of Planetes.  It's deep, and great.  I might have to check the anime out see how it is!

FMA was wonderful, but honestly if you watch it, ONLY watch FMA Brotherhood.  It's much closer to the Manga, which has a MUCH better, deeper, and darker plot.  The original anime was good, but the manga - and what I've seen of brother - is way better.

Kuroshitsuji Is also REALLY good. I just recently started getting into it. c:

I rather watch than read. ;3

i find if im stuck reading everything my eyes only see the words and none of the action. there are some animes though that i am willing to watch subbed because there is no english dub... like Devil May Cry years ago, happily since then it got a VERY well done dub

I have been watching animes subbed for roughly 18 years or so I find that I can both read and watch a good subbed anime with out an issue.
Though I watched a dubbed version of Malice@Doll recently and it was pretty well done for a English dub, though it usually helps when the original voice actors do the English audio track. =P

Subs vs Dubs, the on going battle

Everyone just start watching Dragon Ball Z.

Nah, was never into DBZ. I more into FMA. Actually right now im starting Gurren Laggann.

I liked the original Dragon Ball, but all of the follow up series where rather boring to me.  I am more into animes with high amounts of cyberpunk themes and/or visuals.  Ya know like Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Serial Experiments: Lain, Bubblegum Crisis, Appleseed ect.

I am about to watch Technotise: Edit I Ja, a Serbian anime.  :3

the new season of Pokemon is way better than Hoen/Kanto revisit/Sinnoh. Team rocket wears BLACK, a welcome change to make them more badass, and they never "Blast off again" they escape using smoke bombs or other gadets, Brock's crazy eyes are gone replaced with a new character, and finaly THERE ARE NO OLD POKEMON! all the pokemon that are featured are all new (main charactes asside / pikachu and meowth)

Its fresh and new, i always though team rocket should have been more of a theat, because if you main villans are jokes then the show it too happy and uneventful.

Without classic team rocket the show wouldnt be funny.

Have you watched that last three seasons + battle fronteer? "We're blasting off again!" got F***ing old man.

Technotise: Edit I Ja (Edit & I) is one of those animes that I can definately watch over and over again! I may be stepping on some peoples toes here by saying that it is as good as Ghost in the Shell, in terms of the depth of the plot and the depth of the characters. If you don't believe me just go rent/buy the DVD, watch it and see for your self. =]

More like F***ing hilarious XD They always have the best quips and jokes XD. If they act all serious now then the show loses is comedic fun.

No 151st pokemanz? Dude... so lame. Soooo lame. They are the real pokemanz. And Brock's awesome. I don't want him to be replaced.

Looking at the Wiki of Afro '. It seems a third of the name are Japanese. Now what if a story is written by white guys with a white producer but animated entirely in Japan? Anime? or Japanese producers/writers all animated in America? With the mix here, is the genre decided upon the ethnics of the staff, style of animation, or location of production?

Still, English voices and SLJ? Way to mainstream for me :P </scarcasm>

agreed the teddy samurai is awesome S.Jackson might be starring as the main character but he barely talks throughout the whole series

Im watching a cute little anime now, its dubbed by Funamation so its a fairly good dub... unlike 4kids.
FRUITS BASKET :D its about a girl who meets a bunch of boys who turn into the animals of the chinese zodiac, its got the same apeal as Ranma 1/2 to an extent, but has some good romance like Ouran Highschool Host Club.

I just got in to Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica, it's been a fun watch so far. It is for the most part a fairly drama driven anime, but it does have it's humorous moments. With out giving to much about it away it is about musicians who make contracts with spirits and can control them with a divine song. These musicians are called Dantists.

Im going to start watching Sgt. Frog, it looks pretty funny so might as well give it a try.

I have been on a real anime kick lately and have watched the following animes over the last week. Full Metal Alchemist, The Melody of Oblivion, Dark Side Cat, Occult Academy, and Blood+. For ongoing series that I have recently got into there is Gosick and Deadman Wonderland.

I'm looking for a furry anime :( i can't find any staring anthros.
