: 1 or 2 bedroom Apartment for rent with fur-friendly landlord
: Gizmo December 23, 2010, 04:11:49 -07:00
I am the Building Manager of a large, crime free, clean complex in the Whalley area.
I have a couple vacancies for the upcoming month and thought I would post on here in the hopes of increasing the 'fur-quotient' of my building.
The one bedrooms are large, with a starting price of $725/month including heat, hot water and parking.
The two bedrooms are large as well - and start at $875/month.
We are a certified level 3 Crime Free Multi-Housing Complex with a beautiful, well maintained courtyard.
Laundry is available on each floor.
We are a ten minute walk to Skytrain, SFU, Central City Mall and other connecting transit.

And what could be better than having a furry for a landlord?????
Call me for more details: 604-585-0063

Tempting if it wasn't so far away in Surrey  :)

Though if I hear of anyone looking for a place I'll point them in your direction!

What are your pet bylaws like? We are looking to move! (:
Can you note me the exact location? We will be going to BCIT next year and want to be -decently- close.

can I ask why you discriminate pet owners ? especially when you can ask for half months rent for a pet deposit ?

I personally do no discriminate against pet owners. I am a HUGE pet lover! A condition of tenancy is that you MUST sign an agreement that clearly states that you will not bring any cats or dogs into the building. The building owner made this policy way before I ever came onto the scene.
When you consider how much damage an owner can allow a pet to cause in a suite, you will see why. 1 cat spraying in a corner will cause way more damage than any 1/2 months pet deposit could ever cover. The noise a pet owner can allow a dog to make will cause all kinds of issues with other tenants (and the building manager). The cost of a flea infestation can be HUGE. A pet deposit barely covers any of these expenses. Therefore, it is understandable why a building owner will put these policies in place. Please notice that I am stating "An animal owner" as opposed to blaming the animal. A cat is only as clean as their owner. A dog is only as obedient as its owner.
When you do find a pet friendly apartment, some of the things you need to watch for are: Dog noises int he hallways, cat odours, fleas among other things. Remember, a landlord can only charge 1/2 months rent for security & 1/2 months rent for pet deposits.
The building I manage has a clear "No Pet Policy" and therefore do not charge a "Pet Deposit". There are others out there that do (not many). Its not a case of discrimination. It is a case of a building owner deciding that they do no want the issues that come with cats and dogs in his/her building.

I can respectfully understand that yes animals can damage a suite but I am really starting to feel hurt that it is becoming increasingly difficult for families with pets to find homes. It's one of the BIGGEST reasons why the shelters are bursting at the seams. I hate that some shit pet owners have ruined it for the rest of us. My building allows all types of pets but it's a death trap here half the time for people ie. Floods and fires (very old building)

I personally have one cat and he is my therapy cat but that still don't stop someone from saying no to me renting.
