I recently heard about a great set of promotional plans from Wind Mobile, so I thought I'd pass them along.
I have no experience about their coverage within Vancouver, but it's pretty good in Edmonton, so it's worth investigating if you're pissed off at your carrier.

Oh, and no contracts to sign :D - if they're not working out for you, just cancel, and your last bill will just be your last bill. No cancellation fees, no mischief to keep you roped in.

- Live within the red area? You're good. Yellow? It's actually built out there right now, and functional. Just not official. "Tan"? Nah, you're better off staying on another carrier.
You'll also need to pick up a new phone to go along with your plan, as they use different bands for communicating (Robbers, Bell, Telus are 850/1900; Wind is 1700/2100). They have a hybrid Tab/pay upfront for your phone model - $150 can be deferred onto a tab, 10% of your fees paid per month are deducted from it, and the rest you must pay upfront. You also have the option of picking up any phone that works on T-mobile's 3G network, but loose out on the tab if you go this route.
Choice is good. Freedom to move around is great. And a steal as far as mobile service is excellent. :)

Wind and Mobilcity have GREAT plans, just really shitty coverage.. and since I am in the non-coverage zones fairly often it's not a good deal for me.
They need to erect moar pylons!
Yeah, my main concerns with Wind and Mobilicity have always been coverage. I do enough travelling that I don't really want to have to deal with being outside of the coverage area a lot. Hopefully by the time I'm looking to buy a new phone that situation will be rectified.
I have to say, the eight-year-old in me is entertained by the fact that the company is called "Wind" and their logo kind of looks like a butt. Possibly not the best branding ever, there, guys.
They have pretty decent coverage though Surrey. A couple of 3G soft spots, but otherwise not bad.
