: Dinner and a challenge.
: Carthage December 02, 2010, 09:37:27 -07:00
As many of you know, I'm a chef by trade.

Some of you will also know that I have recently become unemployed. Because of this, my wallet's been a little light recently.

So I come to you with this offer:

I'll cook you a meal, and you pay what you think it's worth... On one condition: I'll only use the things that are already in your home.

I love a challenge. And this one would test my skills as a chef, and hopefully get me a little money in the process.

I'm not afraid to cook vegetarian/vegan food. I'm not afraid to cook with pizza pops and doritos. I'm happy to cook with whatever you can throw at me.

If you're interested, let me know.

...That, Carthage, is an awesome idea. I'm entertaining the thought of inviting you over to cook with me and Chaos, though I'll forewarn you, I keep a lot of weird ingredients in my kitchen, being something of a foodie myself. Last dinner cooked here was a Hong Kong style cart meal; Shanghai noodles, black bean marinated braised beef, minced straw mushrooms, and shredded cabbage as a flash-fry. Prior to that? London broils. If you can work with pesto, or seven varieties of pasta, or a spice cabinet that's overflowed into two cabinets now, or god knows what else is around here on any given day (I frequent the local Asian and international markets), I'd happily lay fifty or sixty on the barrelhead someday for you. Good luck, either way.

I'll happily work with as much, or as little as I'm given. :)

You may not have been at the party that featured the semi-infamous "White Trash Tiramisu" which consisted of twinkies, cool-whip and instant coffee. But any who were should be able to testify to my capacity to make something out of nothing. :)

If you have an amazing pantry, I'll work with that too. I have a diverse set of skills, and a pretty broad scope of knowledge when it comes to international ingredients and their use. I hope you will take me up on my offer, and I look forward to seeing what your kitchen has to challenge me with. :)
