Isn't it 16 year old are good to go out with 21 year old? ( 5 year max? )
Or am I a wee bit off base?
16 is the age of consent. so yeah.
thats why as old as i'll find someone is 4 years older than me, just 'cause it gets creepy after that bit
18 is the age of consent for gay sex.
no it's 16, in canada atleast.
Oooh, I hadn't realized there was a limit of consent to only those 5 years older than the person giving consent. :P
When they taught us about this in highschool, there was a gray area in the law where teens age 16 to 18 were technically only allowed to fornicate with peers the exact same age. Once you were 19 or older the government simply stopped caring who you sexed up as long as they weren't any younger than 19.
It's nice to know they simplified the law. . . it somewhat ruined a few relationships for in my school when that law was introduced for the many mixed age couples. People became afraid of being with their older/younger girl/boy friends because one of them was suddenly at risk of being in trouble. :-X

yes, well it's been adjusted a bit.
So since i'm 16, i could have sex with a 21 year old and not get in any trouble. :P

well, depends if your parents want to interfere
because technically if they didn't like it, they could press statutory rape and bring that guy to court for that, but thats kinda why you keep that stuff under wraps.
Also, there is no age buffer for the sodomy law. Two gay 17 year olds having sex can both be charged.
Ya, but since the age is 16, its not pedofilia. lol
Pedophilia refers to children. Ephebophilia is the correct term.
That's too bad.
I can imagine the American - or any other country's - government getting away with this kind of bull shit, but I had hoped Canada was above such things. :(
I really wonder what their motivation was. I suppose that statistically homosexuals must be at higher risk for rape than straight guys.
Why does no politician want to campaign for the right for grown men to have sex with people's sons? Really? You need that answered?
Not to be the CyberPolice....
But aren't we going a WEE off-topic?

Wrong, if your under 16, your still considered a child, youth if you will. So it would be rape of a child.
Ok, to bring it back on topic.
The objection I have with there being a so-called dating section would be the legal liability that it opens to this website. Lets say some 16 year old kid joins the forum. Lets say his profile pic is shirtless and he has pictures of himself in his underwear in his profile. He flirts with random people here, so desperate for attention he is. He meets someone from the forum (which it appears he already has) and they engage in consensual intercourse.
Whoops, that's a felony. And guess what website helped facilitate it? Guess who's liable? So no, a dating section is not a good idea.

:\
Can you at least look stuff up before making yourself look stupid? Pedophilia refers to prepubescent children. Ephebophilia is 15-19

And can your ego a little less inflated? =/
Anyway, Ive only heard the term Pedophilia being used in that term on the news and media. Guess people rather simplify it.
How the f**k do you enforce that law without breaking rights of privacy when it comes to teens having sex with each other? its like the law against pot, nobody enforces it unless it is solliciting or a bust and it so happens to be found.
also this is a DATING section post, not a F**KING section post.
First, minors have reduced rights. Secondly, there is no "right to privacy" in the Canadian charter of rights and freedoms.

being a Minor sucks.
don't start me.
Why should the government, or anybody else, tell me what i can and cannot do with myself and my body?
I don't understand why suicide is illegal -not that i want to do it- but if someone truly wants to die, why do people have to interfere?
the laws against under age sex are to hard to enforce without busting into bedrooms at random hoping that you find two teens. let's face facts, that would never happen in Canada.
back to dating!

Minors by their very definition lack the life experience to make informed choices about many aspects of their own lives. They can't, for example, sign legal contracts because chances are fair they don't understand at all what it is that they are signing. This is what you have parents for, and the reason that parents have far reaching legal rights over you. Pretty much every sixteen year old thinks they are super smart and have everything figured out. They aren't, and they don't.
Suicide is not illegal in Canada, assisting suicide is. (Source: http://laws.justice.gc.ca/en/showdoc/cs/C-46/bo-ga:l_VIII-gb:s_241//en#anchorbo-ga:l_VIII-gb:s_241 (http://laws.justice.gc.ca/en/showdoc/cs/C-46/bo-ga:l_VIII-gb:s_241//en#anchorbo-ga:l_VIII-gb:s_241) )

well... whatever, I don't care if i'm labeled as a "minor" I'm so sick of being told i'm just a kid.

It can, and does happen. Especially when the minor is approaching/being approached by people in a public space (say, a forum) and posts threads like this: http://www.bcfurries.com/forum/index.php?topic=2634.0
If such a minor was to be doing stuff like that, it would be in his best interest to keep it quiet.
