Hey, wanted to put an idea out there. I saw this at RainFurrest and thought it was a great idea.
Example of what I mean by group shirts: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4578206/ (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4578206/) (Example only. I'm suggesting coming up with something different.)
Any interest in getting matching shirts? I'm thinking something like "BC Furries", but maybe someone has a better idea.
As long as they can be sent out by mail and each can be alittle unique to the wearer, ill take one =3
Silver's mom works for an embroidery shop, might be able to get you a deal on having the shirts made.
P.S. i think it's a cool con, idea.
I'd totally buy one.
As long as it didn't explicitly say or portray 'furries'. . . you guys are probably hating me now for saying that. :P

Well, what's your ideas for what they would say then? Possible uses might be conventions, fursuit bowling, or whatever you're comfortable wearing them at.
Found another picture: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4578228 (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4578228)
I think its a great idea, but the jersey thing doesn't really work for me. It should definitely have the url displayed so that others from the area that see us wearing them will know where they should go.
Well, depending on what people want, I could look into T-shirts, jackets, jerseys, hats... What would you want to wear?
I like the idea of a simple logo. Something like a pawprint or claws or something.

I think it would be better to have the logo show everyone here at the BC furries, but in a simple way

Cute. XD
I like that idea :o
do want.
Neat idea RainRat.
coffee mugs, pinback buttons, baseball caps . . . our revenue shall increase greatly!
FYI, Talked to Silver's mom and as long as it's PG13 there shouldn't be any issue at all. Oh and they can do just about anything, shirts, jackets, pants, cups, hats, bags.
I'd buy a t-shirt. Maybe a jacket.
How about Tin Pins?
since TWEWY i've been collecting them :l
i need moar.
If they're being delivered to us, ill take one
Any suggestions on what elements you'd like to see in a design? I personally think the pawprint is overdone, but maybe someone has a new take on it. Some ideas for other design elements: tail, paws, full characters, bowling, tribal designs, "bcfurries.ca" or "BC Furries", flag/outline of BC. Any artists want to take a shot at a design?
I'm willing to put in some money up front for this if needed, but I only want to break even. If you want it mailed to you, you'll have to send money for postage.
how about a selected group of members, make their own symbol. and on the shirt will have a paw print that says BC Furries, and then the symbols will circle it.
how about the BC flag, but instead of a crown, its a paw
and we can add to it from there, i'm just brainstorming

Ya that is a neat idea.
Might work.
I also really like the flag parody idea. I'd buy that. :-3
An altered version of the 1906 BC Coat of Arms might be a good design to start with. It contains the British Columbia flag and other symbols of the province in a compact logo. However, we may not be able to use "B.C. or British Columbia" in our logo because there is a Provincial Protocol that could potentially cause some problems, quoted from the government's web site.
" The use of the initials "B.C." or the words "British Columbia" in a name is restricted by the Provincial Symbols and Honours Act. The act ensures that individuals or organizations do not provide the impression of exercising a function of the Government, when in fact there is no authority to do so. An individual or organization wishing to use "BC" or "British Columbia" in a name, is required to submit an application to the Protocol Office."
Link - http://www.protocol.gov.bc.ca/protocol/prgs/symbols/symbols.htm (http://www.protocol.gov.bc.ca/protocol/prgs/symbols/symbols.htm)
In order not to run afoul of the Protocol act in a logo design I would alter the 1906 coat of arms and make a couple of additions to get around the P.A.
First lets start with a look at the 1906 BC Coat of Arms - http://www.protocol.gov.bc.ca/protocol/prgs/symbols/img/img_arms_1906_lrg.jpg (http://www.protocol.gov.bc.ca/protocol/prgs/symbols/img/img_arms_1906_lrg.jpg)
How I would alter it?
A). The Elk on the left and the Bighorn sheep on the right would be anthropomorphic. B.) The banner running along the bottom would be changed from "Splendor Sine Occasu" ( "Spledor Never Ending") to a Canadian Flag so as to show country of origin. ( A paw print could be inserted into the Canadian Flag where the maple leaf usually sits.) C.) The crown on top could be slightly simplified. D.) Around the entire logo would be the outline of the shape of the province of BC. E.) If you still wanted to use initials then you could try B.C.F. , (although we might be able to get away with B.C. Furs) F.) I might add in a couple of provincial flowers, (Dogwood) around the top and maybe change the lion on top of the crown to the Provincial Mammal, (white spirit bear). Or change the lion on top to the Provincial Bird, (Steller's Jay.) so as to further alter the original design, but not go too far so as to make it unrecognizable as a provincial symbol.
How about a simple native-style orca (example: http://www.freespiritgallery.ca/Images/killerwhale2.jpg (http://www.freespiritgallery.ca/Images/killerwhale2.jpg)) crashing through ice with "BC Furs" written in the ice, and bcfurries.com on the back?
Yeah, and a complex design would be overwhelming on an article of clothing, so the simpler the better. I sketched out some ideas; maybe this will get the creative juices flowing:

I like the one with just the ears poking up or the face in the flag one. I think that the species used should definitely by the spirit bear since its the provincial animal and my american friends laughed at me when i told them about it.

agreed, i'd stand on that.
Ill toss the idea at my mom and see what she can come up with.
IF we do decide to do the shirts she can the art work lay up which usually adds to the cost of the shirts.
I think having BCFurries T-shirts is a great idea!
The design of the logo will be influenced by the purpose(s) of wearing the shirts,
and the target viewing audience. Do we want to foster a sense of belonging to a
group? Do we want to communicate the group's existence to outsiders who may
see us wearing them? Or somewhere in-between, to identify BC Furries as distinct
group, to furs from other locations?
I like the idea of incorporating the Kermode bear into the design. If we use just the
outline, it works well on a white background, but is easily mistaken for a plain brown
bear. If we use a solid white fill, it gets lost on a white background, and the thickness of
white ink needed to make it solid enough to look good might make it susceptible to cracking.
The paw print is overdone in furry circles for the same reason the red maple leaf is
overdone in Canada in general: it is a simple, easily identifiable, iconic symbol.
Maybe it can be incorporated into the logo in a subtle way, like as a ring of small paw
prints encircling the main logo.
Using the 1906 BC Coat of Arms as a basis is a good idea, but I feel it is too busy a
design to work well on a T-shirt. I would keep the lion, but make him also anthropomorphic,
like the elk and sheep. And it only really speaks to people already familiar with the Coat of
Arms. Maybe use it as one of the banner graphics on the website.
Other thoughts... It would be good if we get a local, well-known furry artist to do the artwork.
Would we be willing to do regular production runs, as more furs see theT-shirts and want to
get one?

I think all of those are great reasons for having BC Furries clothing.

All good points. I'd like more wider input into what folks would like. Even if you're not an artist, a some sketches like what I did might get the ball rolling more.

Well, I just want to break even on the cost. If I have to pay an artist to do the final design, I'll incorporate it into the cost of the shirts. If more want one after the first run, I'll order more as long as I know I can break even.
I really like the Spirit Bear idea too.
