Do you like lego? And...digging? And do you hate sleep? If so, you'll probably like Minecraft.
www.minecraft.net (http://www.minecraft.net)
What makes Minecraft unique is everything is made of large, blocky cubes - you can build them up or tear them down into whatever shape you wish. Make towering castles, deep holes, or pixel art, whatever you like.
Single player Minecraft (survival mode) places you in a randomly generated world with nothing but your bare...hand. Right off you're racing to build a fort to hole up for the night in - because at night all sorts of blocky creatures come out to kill you and take your stuff. If you survive until morning then you emerge, and start to build tools, digging implements, and weapons from materials harvested from your environment, and then you start digging...to find ore to build better tools, and so on. You can also hunt animals for food and leather, plant seeds and trees for food and wood, and even use certain materials to create circuits and logical gates (some dude built a 16-bit computer INSIDE Minecraft...it hurts my head)

Underground you can find creepy monsters, vast cave networks, lava flows, floods, and treasure!
Multiplayer is a different beast altogether, as monsters and mining has been deactivated - however you can still build anything from cities to underground bunkers to pixel art - and it will all be saved on a server:

I apologize in advance for all the sleep you're about to lose!
I've set up a BCFurries multiplayer server where you can log in and build stuff. The sky's the limit as to what you can build there - just don't go deleting other people's stuff!
How to join:
1. Click here: http://www.minecraft.net/register.jsp (http://www.minecraft.net/register.jsp)
2. Enter your info (You can enter a fake e-mail address if you like)
3. Now click here to log into the BCFurries server: http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?server=f176cf6b1e704d5ffed833f53a644d34

I'm using it without problems, however please download at your own risk!

they trashed all our shit and im in the middle of erasing all their crap

You will need a spawn jail and an admin team, perhaps just set up a password and give it to members of this forum via this thread to get op rights or some such...
Not sure how good whoever is running this is with that sorta thing, I'm learning it atm.

I think spawn jail would kill the server, since in my experience we almost never have anyone in it. A password ought to work fine though.
I just save regular backups, and have the advantage of being able to match up IP addresses in game to usernames on the forums ;)
Just played for the first time today. It's really neat. :)
Unfortunately I'm on a laptop, and my mouse doesn't have right/left buttons, so all I could do was remove blocks. No matter how far to the left I clicked it would just hammer and destroy cubes rather than placing them. Is there an alternate control or any way around this? :(
I'd also like to apologize for accidently demolishing a tiny part of the wall on the stone bridge. Sorry! :'( I tried to fix it again but no matter which way I clicked it just ended up doing more damage. ???
Check if your keyboard has a right mouse button on it, it should look like this:
I bought the alpha of this and have been addicted. :P Are you running a classic server or something, though? Just looking at the screenshots and the way the lava isn't flowing..
I have no idea if this'd work with the dedicated alpha client, as the in-browser version doesn't want to run on OS X - but I can't use the URL format, then... do you have the IP/hostname and port number for direct connect w/ the dedicated client? :)
Actually, managed to get it working in a different browser. Built a little treehouse. XD
If anyone else has bought the alpha with the multiplayer that currently has mining support (but no damage and lots of bugs with certain items like minecarts) and is interested, I might be able to host a small server here for that version as well. What do you guys think?

Taken from the never failing wiki. ^^"
In a nutshell, in Canada, if you download with the sole intent for PERSONAL use, and not for commercial use it's legal
(applies to movies and Music as of this time, Applications still haven't gone up for debate yet as far as i know)
Basically-RCMP deemed P2P Legal with the exception of Uploading copyright files.
Just don't UPLOAD copyrighted info without permission :p
... On a side note, I hope and wish those who decide to go this dark scenic route support their local artist by still BUYING the albums or movies...or applications ect :3

That may be true, but every site owner (including the ones here) will want to cover their asses when it comes to discussing this stuff; I'm sure there's ways for them to get nailed for 'facilitating' things.
I wasn't sure if we had any rules against it, and assumed that the mods would tell me quickly if we did. :P
Anyway, sorry for the trouble. :P
Awe well, SMP is sorta lacking right now as it is, I'll just test things out with anybody I can get ahold of on MSN and learn what I'm doin till I buy it. :P
Alright, I've bit the bullet and gone ahead and created an SMP/Alpha Server. :)
hey0, llama, and Cuboid mods (if I have them all working right), meaning I can designated protected areas, if you want a spot to build a house or claim a cave or something in.
(Very) regular backups, no whitelist (yet), 10 user limit depending on bandwidth, and some of the known glitched items (e.g. tnt, minecarts) are disabled.
This is, of course, different from the creative server in that you have to actually mine for the materials you use, and you can create items at workbenches by following recipes. See http://www.minecraftwiki.net/ (http://www.minecraftwiki.net/) for more info on all that.
Depending on how things go and the level of interest, I will start designating ops as well. :p
In the standalone alpha client, click 'Multiplayer' and type in:kithop.ca
That's it. n.n
Also, some epic trailers someone made:
Minecraft Teaser (fanmade) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4KBFreaQnUQ#ws)
Minecraft Fanmade Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaMTedT6P0I#ws)
Minecraft: The Life of Schrauben (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_OZsB4JHqc#ws)
edit: added one more
Just so you all know, I have a server currently running as well, but its... well, last time I mentioned it, the mods got mad... :P
Anyway, If anybody is interested in hosting a LEGAL Minecraft server, I would be happy to spot the computing power and bandwidth, free of charge. Its a good server (7 gigs ram, quad core) and the server has been running great so far.
So if you need a non-home system to host this on, lemme know :D
If there are still any furry minecraft servers up, lets gets some IP's posted. I haven't seen a single one yet.

kithop.ca is still up. Port 25565 I think; what ever the default port number is - you can just type in 'kithop.ca' in the Multiplayer link. It's Survival Multiplayer / Alpha; the one you have to pay €9.99 for. :p Let me know if it's not working, has the hey0 and Cuboid mods installed.
Sorry, mine is back up :)
My server's down for now because of some serious bugs in the newly-released update's multiplayer code. :/ Hopefully will be fixed soon.
One of these days when I actually buy the game I'll join the server! Until then I'm in single-player making a really ugly house (it seems to have a few turn-of-the-20th-century factories in its DNA, and that was before I added the beacons that look like smoke stacks on top).
