Well, my advice is don't go alone unless you plan on meeting people you know there or if you really have no problems with that. Cons are a lot of fun I went to AC this as my first con (2 online friends pushed me to do it and we stayed in the same room :P). It was great but still a little bit awkward some times even around people I knew (all online friends lol).
Its a really exiting experience though great fun lots of silly stuff to see and buy :D.
Well i do know a few people going but not alot
Unfortunately I don't know where RainFurrest is...but I've been to a con (San Diego Comicon, to be exact) twice, and I'll tell ya...what an experience!
So, first of all...make sure all your ID is in order WELL before you are set to leave. If you need a passport, get one as quickly as possible. Like, right now. Go, do it! Otherwise, be sure you've got BC ID, Driver's license if applicable, and all that jazz.
Next, be sure you know what you're packing to go. Most places, like hostels and hotels, don't like you bringing your own bedthings, such as a sleeping bag and pillow. So, unless you plan on sleeping on the floor, that stuff isn't terribly necessary. Bring a jacket you like, dress for the possible weather, but try to be prepared for the worst...like if it's crazy hot, then hopefully you'll have a pair of shorts and a t-shirt or something. If not, then hopefully a sweater.
I'm sure I don't have to go over the "Be sure you know how you're getting there and getting home," but it's always good to have some things to do while you're travelling! Bring a book, gameboy, whatever you like. Sometimes flights, busses, trains and whatnot can have delays, so you might be stuck waiting, and you'll be bored!
Lastly, try to keep an open mind, enough money in the bank you can quickly hop a bus or whatever to get home in an emergency, and have fun! Fun is why you're going, so be sure to stick with it!
I'm terribly jealous! I want to go to a fur con one of these days!

Thanks so much this is great info! ill be sure to use it a to heart.
Oh and RainFurest is in Seattle!
YOU SHOULD COME!
I'd love to go, but I got no fursuit, no money and no place to crash D:
I would love to come, but it's the end of September, and unfortunately there is University to take the lead as soon as September starts! I also have no money right now, and all that jazz. I REALLY want to go for a con soon, but I've gotta find one I can get to, and one I can also afford and stuff. I was totally wanting to go to AC next year, but it seems it'll be very much too expensive this time around...
I hope you have fun! :birdy:

You don't NEED a fursuit to be there
You can share hotel rooms with people (this helps with the price! And only the price! -lie-)
Money would be the only issue unless there you found a way to cut down costs to fit your budget.
I also want to go and If I can make enough money by then I'll definitely go!

Fursuits are hardly a requirement. The other stuff, though, might be an issue.

Ya I know, D: was really hoping I'd at least have the time to get a partial made for it. But money is the major issue for me atm, EI sucks compared to regular pay.
2 meals, 1 shower, 6 hours of sleep. Don't smell, keep yourself healthy. And enjoy.

the 621 rule is always important and keeping friends close :P unless you prefer to have them far away hehe
In all of the years I've gone to cons, I've never heard of the 6-2-1 rule. (That I can recall) But it is really just common sense, and a very good idea. Don't underestimate the value of a good sleep!
Grr I'm so jealous. I wish I could go >:
Ohright, advice. Uhm. Don't get stabbed. =]
This was originally done for an anime con, but most of it applies.

Drewdle that is a awesome find, I like most of the foamy skits, and that one is funny and so true. Heh, hand out free Pikachu shaped soap bars.
