: "Active content" search?
: Silvermink May 11, 2010, 12:23:39 -06:00
One of the other boards I'm on, Fountain Pen Network (http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/), has an "active content" search that will show the threads from all forums in order of last post, such that you can look in a single location for anything new rather than jump from board to board. It's incredibly convenient. Does SMF have any similar functionality or plugins or the like?

I tried doing this through Search but it forces you to specify search terms - you can't just "search for everything".

You can use the board's RSS feature for this.

Where's the RSS at? Possibly I can't see it because I'm using the basic style...

I guess there's also "View the most recent posts on the forum" under Forum Stats, though that's a per-post view and what I was thinking of is a per-thread view.

Using Firefox, there's an RSS button in the address bar.  That's all I know.  I had it hooked up once, and I would get every single post that hit the forum in a dropdown in my favourites bar.

Which I found annoying, because the forum games was the most active at the time, and I don't even visit there.

Oh, I guess "Show unread posts since your last visit" works fine, too.
