Hey, just watched the new Fast and Furious movie, it was so good, that i had to post this here! So, what im trying to figure out if anyone has seen this movie? or any others in the series, like the first couple? ;D it would be great to talk about it, but try not to put anything too revealing out there about it for those who have yet to see it.
OK ALL I WANT TO KNOW IS WHAT IN THE HECK WAS THE FERRARI LOOKING HONDA AT THE VERY END!!!! ITS KILLING ME! sorry for the caps, but omg... i NEED to know what that car is! but ya, Great movie good cinematography, good crashes, good plot, good everything ^_^
I just like the fact that they brought Vin Diesel from the first one and the main character from the second one and brought them both in for this one. Still have yet too see it though...not much of a car person.

Thankfully, they made these series so non-car people can feel like they know what the street racing world is about, and made everyone with a civic think they're fast. It also made idiots drive down main streets with mommy and daddy's car with a muffler tip and kill innocent people, which the media then linked to those of us who used to block off roads in the middle of the night and race with no other cars around. Call it coincidence, but the street racing scene around the world was essentially destroyed after "The fast and the Furious" came out.
I F*$king hate this movie series for that reason, besides the obvious technical flaws and such. The infamous line "He wasn't even double clutching" that Vin Diesel says when the lead character lost the first race made me literally laugh out loud in theatre, and everyone turned around, oblivious to what this comment actually meant.
.. Sorry, I don't mean to flame. I just really really REALLY hate what this movie series did to the world of cars. Now, excuse me while I go double clutch and get more NAWS.

HA HA! I totally agree XD sept the Civic part T_T its all i have! i just enjoy the movies mainly for the cars in em, because i dont think anyone can deny it, there are some SEXY cars in these movies.
Two people I work with, that are married, met Vin Diesel, rather they walked in on him making out with another guy...When I heard them say that I asked if he tried to defend himself, he apparently just said yo and kept kissing the guy! Yay for bis and gays in the movies!

Lol, you should come to my part of Richmond at night you always hear the token riced out civics or any other Asian rice ride for that matter, and the typical mustang with the 'H' straight pipes. Yeah that's why almost every 2-3 blocks in my area you see flowers on the side of the road somewhere. Not be disrespectful or anything, but this is why I'm pay huge in insurance prices because all the accidents that happened due to speed racing when I got my license which was around the time the first fast and the ferrous came out (Just a side note, I don't race with my car it's pointless, 88 VW Golf GL in-line 5, I just blast the bass). There is one place behind me that tunes cars and you always hear then peeling out when they leave.
Though back to the movie, I didn't see the latest one but I have watched all the others, and well I felt like the series went down on Tokyo drift. I don't know why but I just didn't like the movie, maybe I am to picky on that one I just felt it was lacking something.
Oh and one more thing for Aphinity, yeah I was wondering why he would double clutch just for gearing up too its just weird for that type of car. Though there are some older cars out there that need to double clutch, and the there are the racers out there that double clutch when down shifting. Then you have your double-clutch transmission and that's a whole other story.
Ya, the Richmond ricers were the 'other' set of street racers in our little world back in the day. We stayed away from them because of their trends of racing on public roads rather than isolated ones, and because.. well, they were basically all blow off valves and fart can exhaust systems. Any of our 'domestic' crowd could walk all over them before they were even in 2nd gear.
Actually, double clutching is ONLY meant for down shifting, or shifting when you have an 18 wheeler with no synchros in the transmission :) I believe what you meant to say was there's a possibility of shifting WITHOUT a clutch at all, but that's only for race car transmissions on the drag race track. Not much use on the street (they pop out of gear when you let off the gas).
Yeah, Richmond is pretty bad. Though about the double-clutch transmission I was refering to This (Wiki page) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twin-clutch_gearbox) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2bZ4RM-G9Q#ws-lq-lq2-hq)
Maybe I have a sick mind, but the preview image for that video...
I must admit... all the Civic hateing.. it hurts T_T not all of us put Cold Air Intakes, and fart cans, with some shiny rims and think we can race... but maybe you guys will like what im doing with mine, considering its not the typical "Ricer" thing, going for more of a Euro look, but meh..
Personally, I like the sleepers. I've considered getting a Volvo V70R or S60R off and on. Imagine blowing the doors off someone with a Volvo station wagon.
What I'm musing over now is a Hyundai Genesis coupe, which isn't exactly a sleeper, but I don't think I'll be getting a new car for at least three years or so. I'm kind of enjoying the thought of not having car payments for a while. I was interested in the CTS but the reliability data is pretty meh, and the G8 (maybe with a Holden Commodore front end since it's sexier) but Pontiac's now going to car heaven.
Currently I drive an '01 Accord V6 coupe.
Since this seems to have become the unofficial car thread - I'm seriously thinking about buying a Pontiac G8 GT (I'd consider the GXP but it's a lot more expensive and doesn't have VCM, which means lousy fuel economy). The used prices on them have been in freefall since Pontiac got axed, but GM's said they'll be honoring the warranties - only catch is that parts might get expensive since I think they probably get imported from Australia. Also, resale value will probably be laughable.
What I'd really like to do is get a G8 and then get a Holden Commodore HSV conversion kit and confuse people with my weird Australian car.
A friend of mine has a G8 GT that I drove when they were up here and it was suh-weet.
EDIT: The guy at Dueck told me Pontiac's sold out of new G8 GTs across Canada but still has some of the V6s left (yawn). Think I want a used one anyway, though.

With a Eaton Fuller 18 speed you only need to cluth 1st for take off. Switching Range and Hi-low takes some experience and knowing when and listing to the truck.. Most of them shift at the same points.. most 18 speeds are Eaton fullers with the exception of Macs Tripple counter shaft transmission and the old school A boxes.. and the autoshift and automatic junk. I pulled a mac tripple once.. Worst trans ever. lol You can double clutch for upshifts too to let the rpms drop depending on the gear ratios but who ever does that. You just mashem as much as ye can and maker stink lol. god I hate those fart cans
Hee hee, i have made a few shifts withought using my clutch, just by matching RPMs, whilst being to fast with my shifter, and too slow with my clutch LOL

Heh heh, Yikes indeed XD but this is ok, if you knew how i drove on a daily basis it would be easy to see why this happens sometimes XD
And judging by that picture for that clip... o have just lost a little more faith in people >.<
Hee. I have an old RX-7 FC ('86), non-turbo, but GXL with the factory bodykit that actually looks tasteful. I bought it like this (paint, rims and all) for cheap, and yes the paint is keyed and the rims busted to all shit, but:

Was a daily driver for a while until I moved to Metrotown, now it's groceries and band practice and seeing my parents; daily I just take the SkyTrain and save a TON of money on gas. (Woo 15L/100km rotary! C.C;)
One day I'll either fix it up more and sell it; as it stands the poor thing is going to get driven into the ground. XD
Yesterday I saw one of the new Genesis Coupes (I live near little Korea), a very nice looking car for the price:

And only 24K for the base model. Too bad it's a Hyundai!

I test drove one of the 3.8 V6 Genesis Coupes a while ago. Nice little car, and one I'll consider when I buy my next vehicle. Hyundai's doing some surprisingly-nice stuff nowadays - stuff people might actually actively want instead of just settling for.
hey, no one can deny it, before Hyundai sucked, now they are making pretty good cars, my mom had a Tiburon before she got her Mustang and that thing was SNORTY! for being the 4-cylinder, it rode on rails up to about 180 where it got a little floaty, but all in all a great little car, now the Genesis HO HO! thats a NICE car that HAULS XD
