Here's a meat discussion for meat eaters!

(http://www.geekologie.com/2009/03/09/meat%20pirate%2012.jpg)(http://www.matadorrecords.com/matablog/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/weird-people-fat-guy-eating-huge-ha.jpg)(http://www.easyvoyage.co.uk/images/reportage/ARGENTINE/7/05_big.jpg)

Did you know:

- Meat tastes great!
- A meat-based diet requires 7 times more land than a plant-based diet.  This means a person who survives only on meat is 7 TIMES as important as a plant-diet-based person.
- There were no vegetarian Vikings.

MEAT HO!

Vikings ate a hearty diet of fish, wild boar, and even polar bear, all to strengthen them for their yearly hunt of the greatest feast of all - MAN.

Please share with us your meat-eating experiences here.  Tell us about your favorite types of meat, new combinations of meat you may have tried, or times you may have thought about meat when no meat was available.

The Ulster Fry:

My god I've never seen a thread so fucking pointless & stupid. If you strictly eat meat, you can die! From various ways i.e obesity, heart attacks, strokes, overdoes of protein & many other ways. Think for a second before talking out of your ass, this thread is immature, disrespectful & insulting to some. Forshame!

PS: You can't say you don't enjoy a vegetarian meal, if you ever had food without meat i.e KD, toast, cereal... You know the meals that most kids grow up on! Everything needs to be in moderation, point final!

what were we thinking?!

On a forum where we can pick and choose what to read and write, why would we start a topic that anyone can easily avoid, thus avoiding offense? My god what have we done!?

Seriously, this is the Internet, everything is offensive to someone, somewhere. Get over it and ignore the threads you don't like.

Did you even think that possibly, just possibly, this thread is meant to be disrespectful and insulting to those who wish to be disrespected and insulted by it?  Just as we are disrespected and insulted by the insinuation that we are somehow evil for following our evolutionary instincts and eating meat.

How about we move this and the vegetarian threads to the general discussion forum, and leave this forum to discussing about venues?

Meant the basic on the go stuff. Simple breakfast for most people is a couple slices of toast, cereal... I'd argue. Not many people have the opportunity to sit down and have the whole nine yards for breakfast anymore.

3) Call it a meal.
: Re: Carnivore Discussion or MEATCHAT 2010

Fry a meat
Fry 2 vegetables (potato being one)
Call it a meal.

It's why the meal is called "meat and 2 veg".

According to the "authentic" fish and chip place here, it's a pile of inedible coleslaw. However, I'm sure some people out there would be fine with just adding bacon and call the fish the second vegetable (vegetarians eat fish - it's close enough). I'd go for it.

Looking at the Memphis Blues menu, catfish is on their menu.  Depends on how much you like catfish.  I've cooked rare catfish steaks.  (Ok, that's an oxymoron; you know what I mean.)

The funniest part of this whole discussion is looking at you guys slavering over meat you dun have. xD

Dun get me wrong, I enjoy my rare steak as much as the next guy and will fight for it it tooth, claw and sharp flaming pointy object;
but I've had gastronomical feasts of such magnitude I was sick of looking at meat.

Actually that's what my last trip to South Africa was like: The only vegetable I was ever served in 5 entire weeks of vacation there was potato. I kid you not, every single day for five weeks, for ALL my meals I was served some kind of purely meat dish; whether it was cold meat platter 7 different meat BBQ or roast leg of lamb on a slow spit, or freshly caught fish it was meat beyond meat. I was actually eager to get some vegetables when I got back to Canada. ._.;

So for all you desperate carnivores out there, just go visit S.Afrcia for awhile, meat is cheaper than most vegetables, and beer is cheaper than bottled water. And I mean it literally. Happy carnivoring, and try not to hate me too much. ;)

I love vegetables, too - the thought of just eating meat, meat, and more meat without anything to add a little variety actually makes me a little queasy, hence my happy acceptance of the idea of side dishes at Memphis Blues - so I'll agree with that point of view.

Or be shellfish.

Ha ha, fish-related pun, etc.

You skinny guys can have some of my weight - I'm 6'1" 225, but I'm also a big guy to begin with.

I lol'ed a lot =D Such a wonderful thread btw. I Love it when people take things even remotely serious when its just fun!

I've never had goat, but might give it a shot one of these days. There are at least a couple of Jamaican restaurants in my neighborhood so I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find.

..oh man, I finally found a way to make liver edible .....just lay a few pieces of thinly sliced onion and several strips of bacon over top of it and then broil it until cooked. the bacon fat is absorbed by the liver as it melts and makes it all melty and delicious ...and liver is cheap and packed with iron *BONUS*

Actually there's a company in Surrey called fairview meats where you can make a special order for a whole carcass. Same with most foodservice suppliers like Sysco or Trimpack. Some smaller butcher shops like Beefway near 29th ave. can do orders like that too.

...no, I didn't research all that...

..that would be silly..

we'd have to find a good place to spit roast the thing..
Other than that: brilliant.
: Re: Carnivore Discussion or MEATCHAT 2010
: Renwaldo January 20, 2011, 10:16:25 -07:00
So, do you guys seriously want to do this thing?  :D
We could get everybody to pitch in a little money to buy the goat, and we could have a potlach for side dishes, everyone will bring a salad or something.
I can research how to properly spit roast a whole carcass, I know the Polynesians do it all the time so it can't be too complicated. As for spitroasts. . . I'm sure we can find one somewhere. Same goes for butcher shops, there's got to be at least one around here that has dead goats.  :P

Most provincial parks allow bbq-ing and camping. It shouldn't be a problem finding a place to do this.

So is this thing on for April or what?  ;) I don't mind hosting, but I don't have a car and I have limited financial tools, I'll need a bit of help if this is going to happen.  :-X

I would love to get a goat roast together! I've got a few people I might be able to call on in order to get the carcass (I'm a chef, plus I know a couple of farmers.) As for the roasting, I've spit roast a couple of things in the past.. I'm talking, like, chickens, here, so nothing that big. The potlach idea sounds great.

Also, it would be a wonderfully twisted event to hold on the Equinox if we're looking for a spring date :P

yes..
would love to help

i've spit roasted pigs before ..there is a butcher shop called Ennis meats in langley that rents out the spit for a few bucks. it does take a few hours to totally cook an entire carcass so the potlatch thing is an excellent idea

Sorry Unition for commandeering your thread,

but aren't coyotes cannibals anyways? I remember hearing it on good authority that shelters have a difficult time breeding them because if the mother feels the colony is too big (or if she just isn't into raising kids yet) she'll kill and eat her young right after birth to conserve space. If the mother doesn't do it first, the other members of the colony will have a vote and take care of it for her, often the males eat the young so their females will be sexually active for another season, rather than abstain to indulge in cub rearing.  ;)
