Here's my project car sitting in my garage. It's a 1965 Pontiac Tempest, it sat in someones front lawn for 21 years before I bought it for 200$. I got offered 6000$ for it, in the condition it's in 2 months ago.

Oh ya i have three cars sitting my drive way lol. I got a 1956 Oldsmobile Fiesta a 1970 Four door Nova and last but not least a 1991 Plymouth Sun Dance LOL
2009 Honda Rebel 250
(http://www.razeemotorcycle.com/bikes/000774.jpg)
Got 2 cars in my front yard right now, both are EG civics lol
I got a red 93 Civic SI hatchback, standard (of course)
and then my mates car
93 Civic CX hatchback, auto... Its a bit of a project car I have been doing a lot of bondo work on the rear wheel wells and already re-painted the front bumper (the car was well taken care out, unfortunately it wasn't the same for the cosmetic side lol) .. Im gonna make that baby look awesome :birdy:
This pic was taken before I started doing any work on my mates car

2003 Cavalier, here - bare stock and standard except for a CD player. It was cheap, it's paid off... works for me.
My first car was a '66 Olds Cutlass that my family and I built from two different vehicles... it lasted me 13 years. Sucked gas big-time, but I do miss it now and again, usually until I parallel-park with my current car...

This was my bush beater about 2 years ago, brakes only worked on the front/left side & was front wheel drive when I was done with it. >:D I've had some really good times with this beast, even destroyed the windshield with my head :P I did all the wiring for the front spot lights & the police light bar myself.

DO WANT the light bar and lights on the bush bumper. Was there a working siren on the light bar and did you have permission from the police to use the red/blue lights?
No siren, but I did have a PA speaker underneath the bumper ^^, & I didn't have the permission from the police, whenever I'd drive it on public streets I'd simply cover it with a garbage bag & throw a large flowmaster magnet over the police vinyls.

No pistons, no valvetrain, no camshaft, just rotary (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wankel_engine) goodness. :P Grocery-getter and weekend driver. Transit is much less stressful otherwise.
I still think you should remove the back seats, worst option ever for that car.
Actually, they get used on quite a regular basis... they're next-to-useless in terms of room, but having the option is awesome. :P

I drive a 2001 Accord V6 coupe - the best looking generation of Accord coupe, IMNSHO. These pics are from when I got it (it's picked up the odd scratch since then, and I need to get the front bumper cover replaced eventually as it's cracked from an accident). Just about 9 months now until it's paid off...

I don't really like the whiny sound they add to the exhaust note, but then there's the extra 40hp or so... ???

Ha ha, well i have swapped a new engine into a 1991 Celica GT i had for a couple of months, it was not too bad actually, i dont mind ^.=.^ BUT the err... cant remember the year... Something or rather GMC Sprint i was working on would be HELLA easier compared to that! 1979 Z28 Camaro V8 i think small block puts 350 horses to the wheels, original seats , original gauges, specialty all aluminum rims. They make the wheels just slightly to big but it does fine with them. hehe and i tested this myself 0-120kmh in about 4 seconds probably less if you go a pro behind the wheel i am just not that good at shifting her to give you furries a accurate measure.

I sold it, for a few reasons. Actually, it was in top shape when I sold it. New tires, recent tune up, nothing requiring an immediate address. I broke the radiator overflow piping and hadn't fixed it yet, but other than that, she was good to go. I couldn't afford the gas, and I needed the money to save for school. The things one does in the pursuit of their passions.
It's almost been a year, and I still miss that damn car.

A problem only if you want it to be one. first of all torque steer is from poor traction and or the Drive line lengths on each side coming out of the transmission are not the same weight and length.
There is ways to help with it and well first of all just put a limited slip diff and that will make a huge difference. Most imports have made adjustments to the cv shafts to help with this.. one side could be a solid shaft and the other a hollow tube, balancers could of been added.
Lots of ways to help with it. To completely avoid it , You put in a Locking differential.

Oh no worries there, im fully planning on preventing it, the engine im getting (B18) is the GSR model, it comes factory with an LSD in it, as for the axles i intend to try to weight mach em, even if i need to put some weights on em. as for a locking diff? no way XD i would tear the front end off the car with it being my daily driver ha ha

Just thought I'd let everyone know: I HAVE A CAR ONCE MORE! Fuck yeah. Pictures to come soon. She's a 1989 Volvo 240 four-door in blue. 2.3L four cylinder, five speed (first car I've ever owned with a stick, though certainly not the first I've driven). The Brick is back. :)
Yeah, I loved that car. Had to sell it to pay off a loan though. T___T I hate taking the bus. One day I will have a car... and a license (I had my N, but it expired like, 3 years ago) again. I miss driving.

I know that car! i think O.=.o power everything? including the headlight wipers? and the blue is a very slight color? from a distance can pass for a shade of grey?

No wipers on the headlamps, but otherwise, power everything (windows, locks, etc). The blue is actually a dark blue, so no mistaking it for grey. The last owner put the older five-spoke wheels with the V center caps on it too, which makes it look a little older than it actually is. The electronics on the car are... well, they're holding up, but they have their quirks, as European cars tend to. The passenger rear door power lock and window do not work, but the other three do, so the window was converted to wind-up. :) None of the guages or controls light up at night, although I have 12V led lamps that light up the guages that I can turn on or off. And the radio doesn't output sound. Everything on the radio works, just no sound. And I've swapped the deck twice to verify the problem.
The main thing is all the important stuff is in good shape, so I'm happy. I'm going to work on tracking down the gremlins, especially the one that causes the lighting mishap. It'd be nice to find my heater controls at night.
Ok, well i thought i knew what your car was XD i have the lighting issue at night to XD my heater control lights are burnt out, and a vast majority of my other cluster lights are gone, i see enough to operate the vehicle, but its rather annoying, but all the more reason to change em to blue! XD
My list... Pics will come eventually.
'78 Camaro LT - Needs new interior.
'94 Pontiac Grand Prix - My current daily driver until the Camaro is happy again.
'54 Pontiac Chieftain - Runs, but doesnt look too pretty right now. This winters project (gotta be ready for the shows next year)
'62 Chevy Corvair - Just got this from my brother in law recently, needs some TLC
'66 T-Bird (Project, Possibly 4sale) - Eventual project, seriously thinking about selling.
'84 Scotsdale - Needs new wiring; runs, but its a mud toy right now
'54 Willys Wagon - Another winter project; funds needed for this one however... Needs to be completley restored.
And adding a (I think its a '62) Ford PU; but restoring and giving to my mom for her 50th or possible wedding gift if its done before she gets re-married.
Also trying to talk my F-i-L into giving me the 4-door Studebaker thats sitting in his yard.
... Im not a gearhead. Not at all.... >_> [cough]

I'm not generally a big fan of the '50s and '60s cars (I know, blasphemy right?), but your list has two of my favorite cars, regardless of age. The Corvair is one of them. I love the look of those cars; it's like someone at Chevrolet thought it would be a good idea to take the Corvette Stingray and turn it into the everyman's car. Also, the nods to European design with the rear engine/rear drive design were extremely different in an American vehicle for that time, and kinda have been since, which is a shame. The other thing I noticed was the Studebaker next door. Wouldn't happen to be a Champion would it? The ones with the classic bullet nose? I love those too.
My favorite era for cars seems to be the mid '70s to the late '90s, because it demonstrates how quickly things changed in so little time after being the same for so long. I like boxy designs, which is probably why I picked up my most recent car, the 240. Big 'ol slab sided brick.
Thread revival!
I just found out today I'll be inheriting a '90 Cadillac Fleetwood.
Yay for giant gas guzzlers. :P
^ ^ my d/d is a '93 wrx, a.k.a. "hazuki", just sporting an intake/exhaust, boost controller, bov, wideband O2 and a/f adjuster for now. project car/former d/d is an '86 audi 5000CD (turbo/quattro) a.k.a "heidi"...and there's a '67 olds cs that belongs to me hiding somewhere in the kootenays. sorry no pics on this comp...will share when able.

hmm.. i got it all too sept that... air fuel? why that would be there though would not make sense... unless perhaps it had certain levels of adjustment for varying boost applications?... i dont even know if that exists (sept in a ECU sense...) but thats all i can think of XD
Yeah I'm the same, I understand everything but the a/f adjuster. Though air fuel adjuster does sounds right, with a turbo he's probably playing around a bit to get it just right.
Do you think one of you is patient enough to explain it to me? You got me curious now.
What is "d/d" ?
Alright here is a simple break down. Hope this helped.
d/d = Day to day
93 wrx = Modle of car (Subaru WRX)
intake/exhaust = Pipes that lead into and out of the engine
boost controller = Lets you adjust the pressure the turbo charge will put out
bov = Blow off valve, this will allow the turbo to discharge pressure
wideband O2 = Allows you to see and check the air and fuel mixture
a/f adjuster = Air fuel adjuster???
86 audi 5000CD = Modle of car
turbo/quattro = Turbo charged and all wheel drive
67 olds cs = Modle of car
2005 Ford Focus ZX3 with leather! 8D Oh, and a 5spd. XD

d/d = Day to day
i figured d/d meant 'daily driver' but same meaning.
and if he means air fuel adjuster, i think all fuel injected cars have one of those. in my VW theres an O2 sensor in the exhaust, and based off the reading it adjusts the amount of fuel and/or air to the engine. (honestly i'm not sure how it works exactly, lol)

er...sorry! totally slacked on checking this thread...
@ Cross: mine's black, not in the greatest shape ever, some paint fade in one spot and little dings and scratches etc, and a stock impreza bumper cause she had a really fugly veilside bumper...
and for those wondering about the a/f adjuster, it is a fuel delivery adjustment device, from the research i've done (not much info available as it seems to be a specifically japanese product) it apparently intercepts the signal from the mass air flow sensor (a/f = air flow, even though it's not actually adjusting air flow but rather the computer's interpretation of it and the resulting fuel delivery.) and sorry, i should have differentiated between air flow and air/fuel) it allows the user to adjust the signal using three knobs on a small cabin mounted box, one for low air flow, one for medium and one for high. it was already installed on the car when i bought it, and it's kind of hokey, but it allows for a fair bit of adjustment as opposed to actually properly tuning the fuel maps (requiring more $) and it seems to work alright within its limits. it's also the reason i installed the air/fuel meter, because i wanted to set it properly.
sorry again for slacking, not being more clear to begin with, and thank you Tai for doing a wonderfull job of clarifying my post for others ^ ^

hehe yeah I use to go camping with my grand parents and they had one of those truck bed campers, they are nice, and probably would have been my choice.. but the cost of one of those AND the cost of a decent truck to haul with would have been humongous. this RV I got for $1800 and that was mostly because the guy couldn't figure out why she always had a hard time starting (I got that fixed for the most part now with wiring up a manual choke since its electric one was seized open = impossible cold starts)
This one here can sleep 6 lol as long as people can share the beds and its got it all as far as amenities go Shower, Toilet, Fridge, Oven with 4 burner stove top, rear sinks.

Phear the almighty 125hp of my 1.6L 4 cylinder! Though.... I am gay as hell, its part of my contracted obligation to drive a little car, besides who needs a big engine when you got a crowbar in the trunk amirite? XD
Then again... I got a hopped up 5.7l 351 Windsor in my RV with a custom intake manifold, Edelbrock performance carb and a K&N air filter. So I guess I got enough raw muscle power if I really wanna flaunt it hahah But I would take my quick Civic SI that I only gotta fill once every 2 weeks any day. The RV tends to be very un-weildly, but hey its all good :3
this is what i get around in, an original 1964 ford econoline 'travelwagon' camper van, yes, that means it was purchased at the showroom with all the camper features inc., the dome rooftop, they are quite hard to find.

My Porsche is a 2.5L Inline 4, 150 b/hp and has 50/50 weight distribution! (It's my commuter)
My Jeep is a 4.0L Inline 6, with 290 b/hp and has a 4inch liftkit! (It's my Dog and Drunk Furry Mover)
I couldn't even honestly say how much hp my RV's engine has, its had those mods and its a re-build, runs real smooth though, still looking forward to getting some real use outta it! ^.=.^
As for my Civic.. lol I know its hp is nothing special being a above average commuter car and all, by no means is it some car to honestly flaunt around hahah XD but I still would not even bother with trying to tune it or swap in one of Hondas more performance engines as what I got right now is the more powerful stock engine of its gen and she currently has 320,000 on the clock and burns no oil, I honestly wanna see how high of KMs I can get on that car. XD
On a random note, I can't believe some of the shit I have seen out there actually O.=.o at my job we get LOADS of 90's to very early 2000's cars and I have yet to see one that didn't have charred sludge for oil and an interior that was falling apart, its actual sad cause I have seen some pretty decent cars that I would snatch up in a heart beat as a beater, but they are too beat to shit to even be worth $250 forget the couple hundred more they got for them on trade, even my 1978 Econoline RV's interrior and engine bay look/work better hahaha

'79 Volvo 245 DL. 2.1L four cylinder, SU carburettor, four-speed manual with external switched overdrive. 400,000kms, some rust, and all of 96hp when it was brand new. Fantastic old boat. Gets decent mileage too, believe it or not. It's going to be a keeper come camping season.
I liked those glass headlights more than the giant plastic boxes Volvo adopted in later generations. Lol hell those older Volvos honestly look nicer than the ones from the 90s XD
I wish cars didn't step away from glass headlights, what was so bad about headlights that were virtually ageless and only a little more expensive.

DOT, that's what happened. I'm pretty sure that the plastic lamps are supposed to be "shatterproof", and thus were judged to be better from a safety standpoint. I could be talking out my ass though. :) I love the four-eyes look. Volvo put both 7" bug-eyes and quad 5.75" setups on these cars, the quad setup being the last round glass lamps they used before going to the square halogens in 1980 or 1981, and then the plastic boxes in 1987.
I will say they are getting harder to come by in stores, though. Three of the four of those lights (yeah, I know, not so good, but I didn't do it so meh) are actually
not Halogen lamps, they're just standard glass lamps. You can't even buy those any more I don't think.
I've looked at this car in comparison with newer 240s, and noticed something peculiar. This car (and I presume all the 70's to early 80's models) has chrome window frame, chrome glass frames on the side glass, chrome side mirrors, chrome roof rack (yeah, it's real chrome), and so forth. There is no black plastic to speak of, except in the grille and headlight assemblies. Beginning in the early eighties they blacked out the door frame, glass surrounds, swapped in plastic square mirrors, and changed up the roof rack setup, which significantly alters the look of the car (makes it look smaller, my opinion). But the neat thing about this change is that the body panels and glass stay the same. It's just the application of matte black paint and swapping some accessory body parts that causes the change.
Oh, and this is my first carb. It's a bit of black magic but I'm beginning to like the lack of sensors, computers, and other paraphernalia that constantly dies or needs replacing. If the car doesn't run properly, prop the hood, check the plugs, adjust the mixture a bit, and you're off.
Oh god, I have gotten to know carbs more and more thanks to my RV and its Edelbrock, I have been tweaking that lots. One point I had it so rich she bogged and stalled at lights, then I had it far to lean so she "popped" and had a very gutless feeling, I finally got it at a nice medium but am still dealing with her cold-stalls, I have to repeatedly turn it back on till its sufficiently warmed up. Its been a learning experience to say the least, but its pretty cool when you figure these things out ^.=.^
Also had to wire in my own manual choke since the electric one was shot, it works but you really gotta know how much to give it or you will just stall her out *chuckles*
Heck if your car is having any carb issues I would invest in some Seafoam, I did my RV ages ago and it made her smooth out a noticeable amount :) Best part is with carbourated vehicles they are stupidly easy to seafoam. ^.=.^

Did the manual choke not eradicate the stalling while cold? I have a manual choke, and I like it, though the previous owner didn't know how to use it. He complained the car ran rough when cold. What he was doing was leaving the choke fully closed until the car was warm, and then cranking it open. I leave the choke fully closed for about 20 seconds, and then continually poke it. Seems to work so long as I don't get over-zealous. My carb is an SU HIF44 though, which is an English carb that was designed in the 1940s.

Car's looking good! Winter tires? Really? Like we need those out here. :) Then again if you've got summer performance tires on it the rest of the year, you're off the hook. I've never gotten into trouble with All Seasons.
I got some mid-range all seasons, great on the road when its nice out but the tread is probably only 50% or so, I would dare not ever take a winter on without my winter tires, they have saved my ass countless times, its not just the snow though, with how wet our roads can get, these things still grip them like super glue even in the wet. I have driven through snow that was half way up my bumper with no problems, driven down compacted icy roads with very minimal sliding XD I honestly gotta say unless you are just doing slow town driving you would have to be crazy to take on a winter without a truly good set of tires.
There are some great all seasons out there that will handle about anything, but knowing the average consumer they are going for those cheap 30-60 dollar tires that baloon out and are made out of a horribly crappy compound meaning unless its dry or you are going very slow they have horrible performance. I once got a set of tires with my sweet summer rims (prev owner had em on there).. they were a wal-mart only Bridgestone tire... 60%+ tread and they SLID out in the rain, my back end (which had the tires on em) flew out from under me three times on wet roads, and I was not even going more than 20-60kmph at those times they did. I promptly threw those tires out, I didn't care they had a lot of tread as it was only a matter of time till they caused an accident and totaled my car. :P so I switched back to my more worn but higher grade all seasons and had way better handling.
I cringed one winter when I was getting my set put on and in the span of 1/2hr 4 different old people came in and wanted winter tires, moaned at the price and talked the techs into agreeing that a $350 set of all seasons was fine in place of a good set of winters. I hope I never drive the same time they do >.=.>

friendly fox...... i regret to inform you that the picture of the red vehicle is NOT, nor ever will be, a truck. if you want a truck you need to consider a freightliner or a peterbuilt or maybe a kenworth. but an 80's version of a datsun pick up is NOT a truck. it is a truck wannabee. my ford f 450 is more of a truck than that is.
I have an anti boner for large trucks myself, not the freight trucks as those have a actual use, just over sized monsters that are everywhere. So many people we sell them to at my place of work are such prissy little drama queens. You can tell these guys only want the truck for a "marital aid" and not for actual use. :P
Even the gayest of men driving a Pontiac Firefly would be more manly XD
It's true that the Datsun pickup is gutless, but it averages 18mpg and it's been worked HARD over the past ten years or so. Now it spends its' retirement ferrying me (and sometimes a friend) around. It's also handy for getting firewood, or a new piece of furniture.
i hope i didn't give the impression that your 'beast' was useless. on the contrary it can be quite useful for some things like you suggested and more. i just wanted to say that it was not a truck.

Dude, regardless what your
personal opinion is. A datsun is still called a pickup TRUCK. Just as much as an El Camino was, as much as a Ranchero was, as much as an S10 was, and as much as your damn Ford is. You saying that is like my opinion on the difference between an Escalade and a "true" SUV. Regardless of me thinking it's the most useless vehicle of all time, it's still marketed as an SUV.
problem with the written word is you do not hear the humour the vocal word says. if you noticed i mentioned class 8 trucks. the big rigs. i also said ...""but an 80's version of a datsun pick up is NOT a truck. it is a truck wannabee."" in there i did say "pick up" and a pick up is considered a truck is it not?
your response is like saying that a bicycle with a motor on it is a motorcycle just the same as a harley davidson, or honda gold wing or other similar sized motorcycle. there is no comparison. a motor on a bicycle is not, nor ever will be a motorcycle.
similarly i was ribbing him about his "little" truck.

industry calls it.
In my opinion, if I have to get myself a truck, it will be a classic Toyota Hilux. There's a reason why warlords use it in warzones as technicals. It's built to be tough.

Hondas are great for longevity. Is it burning any oil yet though? They start doing that after 300k depending on their service history and past abuses. My car hasn't lost a drop in over 4k. Interestingly, it's not a diesel. Diesel 240s never had Volvo engines in them; instead Volvo was stupid and bought diesel engines from VW. A five and a six cylinder were available if I'm not mistaken, neither of them were that great. When you consider how awesome their commercial and marine diesels are, I'm completely lost as to why they didn't use a small version of one of those.
I'd love to have a Volvo with the fabled PRV V6 engine in it, famous for wearing out camshafts in under 80k miles, but also famous for being the engine in the DeLorean. They're quick little beasts when they don't have US smog controls on them.
My car has finally started to burn a little oil yes, but at 330,000 and with how I drive, im pretty amazed. She isn't really losing oil at any rate, just darkening it a lill quicker than normal. But I have been good with oil changes in the whole 4 years I have had her so far. So over all im not actually that concerned. Morroghs civic has been burning oil since we bought it and its put on a TON of Kms since then.
Well Its not a car but I do have an electric mo-pedy thing! Gets me around and I dont need insurance nor a license!

Nice, I had a look at the Fusions while I was pondering a Focus ST.
Focus would have been the better choice for gas, it's smaller though. I like the space my 2013 fusion brings also it's all wheel drive which is great for the winter since I am back in Alberta. Took a kia optima for a test drive a lot of options paying for and crappy head space in the back seat. Took a Nissan Altima and the car had wiring issues on the test drive, namely the heated seats and the dash console where acting up. Always test everything you can before buying cars now a days. If possible see if you can take it for the weekend if you really think it's the car you want.
Your G37xS looks nice too. :)
I gotta second Phyr on that one. I worked at a used car dealership, we actually got in a lot of current-year models. Rather new cars with like 10-30k on them and there were a good few times that people traded them in because of some fluke or problem with them that they didn't wanna say. It goes without saying older cars are worse for this... You may think that you are getting a totally inspected car thats had badly worn parts replaced and a rather good tuneup... But I saw some of the guys try and sell cars with dead AC claiming it worked.. or even vehicles with known issues like worn out clutches, busted parking brakes etc.
So by all mean test everything you can think of, it will save you from getting fleeced.

Thanks. Alas, gas mileage is not its strong suit, but my commute is pretty short so I'm not too concerned about that. It was a lease return from Regency Infiniti in North Van. Doesn't seem to have any issues. Good way to get a gently-used late-model car.
I'm taking it up to Summerland this coming weekend - going to go up the canyon to Spences Bridge and across on the way up, then take the Hope-Princeton on the way back, so there should be some fun driving in there.
I'm always more than a little suspicious of the little used-car-only dealers. I wouldn't buy something at one of those without taking it in and getting a full inspection.

there is a place out in Richmond called the Vancouver Auto Auction. any registered dealer (those little used car only) can buy cars from there. this auction sells cars that the dealer does not want for what ever reason. this could be why you see a brand new car (example a dodge) in a competing dealers (example a ford) used lot. there is also a public auto auction open on wednesday nights and saturday mornings.
i bought my nissan pathfinder there for $2000 ($2600 down the road cost, includes sale price, taxes, buyers fee, transfer fee and 3 days insurance) and comparing prices on craigslist i could have sold it for $5995.
sure there are some bad dealers out there so still be careful. before you buy your next car or if just looking check out http://www.adesarichmond.ca/ (http://www.adesarichmond.ca/)
good luck btw the auction is not very bus friendly so have a friend with a car go with you so you can get there easily, and you have a ride out if you do not buy something.
Little off topic but what is ICBC scamming you out there for your car? If I were to insure mine out there with the 43% discount I would be paying $2000/year since I am back in Alberta I am paying $1040/year. My insurance went up 280 with the new 2013 Ford Fusion. I bought it off the lot with 12km and yes I have had a few glitches but so far my dealer has been pretty good about fixing them :)
Adesa is where my old job got a lot of their "cheap run of the mills" Nissan Versas, Chrysler 200s, Pontiac G5s, Chevy Cobalts, Ford Escapes.. pretty much if its a domestic vehicle you see everywhere, or a very cheap import you see everywhere. We sold em after buying them bulk from auction. Those vehicles all did have inspections and ran decent. But as with many thing that go up for sale there are those little hidden issues.. Like Cobalts throwing engine lights like a new-yorker throws the phrase "hey fuck you". Or Nissan Versas being notorious for bad engines (many I worked with had developed horrible ticks and knocks by only 40,000-90,000km)
I would have loved to go to an auction cause I hear there are some actual great deals. My work place was simply buying the more plain and cheap priced cars there (easy to turn a profit when you are buying a cobalt for $2000 as part of a bulk deal and then flipping it for $10,000) and those SOBs kept saying they couldn't afford to give me even a tiny raise.

I'm paying about $2000/year on mine. It went up $35/month with the G37 compared to my 2001 Accord, though I raised my 3rd party liability and changed from pleasure to to and from work, and also am getting the 10 year discount now (not sure how I wasn't before - I know I'd been getting it at some point).
Since I have an old truck and I live on the South Island, I pay roughly $1300/year for insurance. So far I've been getting the three month insurance (all I can afford right now) but will be going yearly in October when I need to renew again - which is roughly $1150/year for my truck and location; was told I could do it at $95/month via direct debit.

with the upgrades you have made i would surmise that if you left the coverage the same your rate would have gone down.

you can upgrade to monthly payment plan anytime. you do not have to wait for the present policy to expire. go in and start the monthly payments now and by xmas you should have a few dollars refund coming to you from icbc.

No, they definitely quoted me more per year. IIRC I was quoted something like $2150 originally - I was paying something like $1600 on the Accord. Also it kinda makes sense that my rate would go up given I'm now driving a car that's nine years newer and probably somewhat more expensive to fix.

This is my labour of love/never ending project.
7mgte fresh off of a complete tear-down and rebuild.
(Ported and decked head, resurfaced block, arp head studs, oversized pistons, reshaped con rods, oversized and baffled sump)
upgrades ct26 .49 trim steel BB
550cc injectors
walbro 255lph
3" turbo back
r154 5speed
Currently putting out somewhere in the neighbourhood of 220-250whp on the stock ecu. Megasquirt in the plans and with a good tune I'm aiming for a reliable 350-375whp
suspension is currently all stock with jic magic coilovers. Planning to overhaul suspension with adjustable arms, roll centre spacers, new poly bushings, and new coil-overs.
I just got it running about a month ago and hopefully I will have it out at autox at least a couple times before the summer is through.

I love the styling of those, great city car. I use to be really adverse towards 4 door hatches, but with some of the models that makers are putting out these days, nice and sporty unlike the grandma-themed ones of the early 00's
This is my baby;

1979 Ford Escort RS2000.
Although I will not be bringing with me straight away with my move to BC. :(
That would be one hell of a collectors item out here, then again, mainly cause our climate eats most cars and on top of that we get the crap americanized versions of most vehicles to begin with. :P
Most people wouldn't even know what it is, even despite the fact it was designed and built in EUrope, and never sold in North America people claimed it was American...
I've been told it was a V8 (From a 2L SOHC 4 banger?)
I've been told it is a Holden Torana and a Mitsubishi Sigma.
It's gonna be a weekend warrior anyway, and it being RHD will probably making it annoying at times over there along with it being manual with no power steering :birdy:

Sounds like my kinda car up until you need to take it in reverse to a drive through here :P
yea it wouldn't surprise me with what people are saying unfortunately not too many are too well acquainted with the RS series and what it has done in Rally
Well, I will show you guys two of my three!
Will start off with my Beloved Jeep!

Its a little bit of a head turner ~.=.^
And my DD :D

I was heading down to Penticton to save my Cousin who blew up his car ha ha ha ^.=.^
Wyrd: Fucking love that Jeep. Scare the locals, that's our motto.
Jet: I'm a huge Mopar nut, and that is one gorgeous boat. I'll bet it flies too.
And then there's my present car addiction: Volvos. Here's the current 240 wagon, replete with 4 speed stick, 2.1L four-pot with a side-draft carb, and seventies era mustard yellow / brown colour combo. It's a 1980 but I've swapped some of the trim off a '79 to give it an older feel. Just came out of the shop for fall with a clean bill of health mechanically, just a few troublesome rust spots. 268,000km. This shot is from last winter, after scaling the Coquihalla in a snow storm. I snuck through the highway closure gate about ten minutes before they closed the road.

I got my N today so we just have to insure it and get the car back from the mechanic because it got/is getting it's breaks fixed. I apologize if I already posted this. (I couldn't get the picture to fit so I improvised. Hopefully it works.) https://scontent-b-sea.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/1395218_10202370340682944_683380461_n.jpg
Lol... keep wondering if I should post pics of my truck.. camper, and eventually the full setup I want to do with it. I've got a couple from when we did Campfur, but I would need to downsize and possibly edit them.
