Well, I need to pick one or two mods in case I (for instance) go to bellfurs, so things don't go crazy while I'm not looking. So indicate your interest if you'd like to be one. Give an idea of any qualifications.
Discuss the choices here if you'd like.
You should also list the things you (the mod) would being doing. Just to make it clear to everyone.
Well, a mod can move/delete/lock/edit posts. If a post is posted in the wrong forum, or is spam, the mod deals with it. If a thread gets out of control, the mod locks it. The mod also needs people skills, and can bring a problem thread back on track without using their tools.
The mod can also deal with community functions, like changing the subject line of an event, from [PROPOSED], [ON CALENDAR], to [OLD], and putting the event on the calendar.
I believe I did a good job as moderator before and made a number of sound, logical judgement calls when they were needed. When they weren't I kept out of things and didn't throw my weight around.
If neccesary I have the ability to pick up the knowledge needed to maintain the forums. I also understand the importance of team communication and proper testing.
I have the time, sound mind, and skills you need; on this basis I'd like to re-volunteer myself for the role.
IMO rainrat you should have about 4 mods each one assigned to a different section of the forum: general, events, media and creators. These mods would have the task to mantain these areas, which can limit the stress of being a mod. And if another section mod sees a problem they can help in the other sections, they can do so.
But thats only a suggestion.
I'd be willing. I'm a professional and rational person who has some experience moderating communities (for example, I'm a moderator on my WoW guild's forums) and who has been tending to have a lot of free time especially during the day on weekdays lately. I don't have anything to prove and don't let myself get dragged into silly arguments or let my personal feelings about people affect my professional judgement.
I'm a good communicator and do my best to treat and address everyone fairly.

"coughbscough"
treating people fairly.... a long ways from that arent we, especially after how you talked to me and a few others... lool!
i have my right to say this!
Well if that is what you will be doing, I would like to put my name on the list of moderator candidates.
There are some sections in the forums that I think would need to be cleaned up and organized mainly the event section. I check the forums regularly, I keep the fursuit bowling section clean and change the title of the events myself to keep the the forum standards. Also I am a person is able to lessen to reason and likes to hear it from both sides.

I didn't say anything I felt was unfair or undeserved. Also, what others...?
In the interest of not cluttering up this thread with an argument, please feel free to PM me. :)
i Volunteer myself for graphic designer back plox (please) :)
and btw i added you to yahoo mink man
You know what... I'm going to put forth myself as willing to moderate.
Qualifications? I'm moderately intelligent... I'm a fairly neutral person. Don't often take sides and can look at things from a step back.
Sure I'm not the most social or well known person.. But I definatly am willing to work my hardest to keep the things all running smoothly.
If you REALLY want it I've been working Customer Service for the past 4 years >.> yay job experience in dealing with people.
I don't want to seem like I want to compete with Omanashi but I am also willing to do some re-design of the site if it is needed. I have worked with Rainrat before on web projects. Also if he needs a mod I can do it in a pinch.
Not me!
I'm sooooooo lazy!
*curls up on RainRat's lap*
I would like to help but I'm unsure if Im the proper type of person for this sort of thing. putting in my two cents.
I would be very very strongly against Omanashi holding _any_ form of power until he proves he's responsible with it. Thus, I'm going to move for him being relegated to a purely consultatory role if he does any design stuff... Which isn't even necessary.
I'm not putting forward my name as far as moderating will go, however, I'd be willing to deal with social media -- crossposting stuff to various things to make sure people know what's up.
Edit: I'll second silvermink's bid for mod.
I don't know if I should say this but I would like to nominate Kithop for the candidacy of a moderator position.
I would also like to nominate Acco for the candidacy of a moderator position as well.
(if either of them do not want to be moderators that is fine with me but they get my vote)
I would not like the position for myself.

acco already rejected kitten xD
I'll take it if people want me to.

I'll vote for that.
I would like to volunteer for forum mod if you need one, I do have some experience as a mod, I have been a mod on another furry forum. please IM me for more info.
If anything I'd be a better technical contact than moderator per se; I used to deal with SMF instances and upgrades, databases, etc., at my last job...
That said, if it's needed, I have the time and am still willing to lend a hand - it looks like you've got quite a few good, interested people already, though. :p
i honestly would never throw my vote for half these people. i go by Skill, Trust and Activity.
i have my say in this case, i also rest what i said.
i know im being a dick, but its needed in most cases, and has served well. it keeps me from getting to emotionally attached with people and giving them any statuses just because i know them. Because its so unfair to everyone else if you just choose the people who are friends.
that can also be agreed on, play fair and randomly select people, not to just select people you know, everyone has an equal chance.
Also Acco no offence, but i do not see you as a good candidate, im sure there are other who agree with me that you yourself act like a dick to people puting yourself in an elitest position. i therefore would not cast my vote. (hate being so rude but im giving my honest opinion, no lies. i have dealt with you in person on so many occasions and thats how you act as well as singling people out just because they arent good enough to be friends with you)

I wouldn't; in fact, I'd object to it.
Having seen the current administration team on Fur Affinity, quite a number of them act like they shouldn't even belong in the moderator team, let alone administration, in the first place, thus abusing their power that makes them seem all high and mighty and feel all glowy and powerful when they do a permanent ban on someone, rather than just give them a temporary suspension, when in truth, they're just being abusive to their admin status like the administration team on DeviantART. I can think of a certain user on FA who does just that, and I'm fairly certain you all know who I'm referring to.
I don't feel Acco would make a good mod for BCFCB at all; the moderator team should be about hiring those who are skilled and trustworthy, rather than just pick and choose some random joe schmoe on the streets over who should be on the team willy-nilly. Not only would it make the other users feel uneasy and threatened by the new moderator team, but it would also drop the quality of the forums pretty quickly.
I apologize if I may come off as rude towards the administration team, but I wanted to express my opinion freely and give my two cents in regards to administration and moderators. And for the record, I have no interest in being a mod or an admin. I know for a fact I would not, in any way, shape and/or form, make a good addition. I'm already high-strung as it is, and the last thing I need is to become an admin or a mod and abuse the powers faster than Superman.
Honestly, we don't even need that many mods - I agree with RainRat's sentiment in that he just needs one or two people to cover for him if he's away or sick. When I had mod privs before I never once used them - either I didn't think anything needed doing, or the drama and thread locking or deletion would go on when I wasn't at my comp. Having a ton of mods for such a small community is pointless. If people want me to do it, I can - if not, I'm not going to get hurt about it. :p It's a responsibility; a job, not some kind of status symbol. So you're a mod on a regional furry forum - big whoop, right? XD
If anything I'd be more disinclined just because I'm willing to let way too many things slide and don't particularly feel like playing internet police for shits and giggles. But then some people may want that extreme hands-off approach. :p I'm capable and willing, and otherwise indifferent. I just hope that whoever ends up doing it doesn't burn out or anything. Be nice to your admins (and fellow furs in general). n.n
Couldn't agree more that we had way too many mods before. They should be appointed based on need, not on whim.

it wasnt on Whim, its 1 Mod per 75 members
everyone knows those rules!
I'll let others speak for themselves about myself, but I'd like to point out two things --
Mikau probably doesn't know me very well - I don't know much about him either.
Rino and I don't like each other.
And besides, it's not like we need that many mods. I'll take it if people want me to take it. My weight still is behind Silvermink though.
edit: added qualifier for statement.
I'll toss my hat into the ring.
I come from a tech background. The role would seem to entail just simple thread pruning and categorizing. Still though, I understand servers and shells and web programming and, more importantly, I play an active social role in the local community. I'm capable to dealing with people if need be, and I've my paw firmly on the pulse of the local community's direction and focus.
I've been around for about four years, and finding people with any real issue with me is difficult.
I think the position opens you up as a target for certain people, with no real gain for you other than helping to make the community a bit better of a place.
Wanting to do this is a bit of a dumb thing to do, but I guess I'm a bit dumb of a fox :)

Yeah, I pondered that too. I'm volunteering because I'd like to help the community. It won't break my heart if I'm not one of the ones chosen - I'm sure there are others who are every bit as qualified and available.
My selections are Unition and Tai.
Unition's shown his ability to handle hot situations without adding more drama.
Tai has been noted for organizing the fursuit bowling section, even without mod abilities. Also, I see him on Who's Online a lot.
If you were not selected, don't take it as a rejection, since I only needed a couple. I will refer back to this thread if there is a need for more, or if a mod retires or is inactive.
Coolbeans you two, good luck and here's to hoping for a dramaless future (though unlikely) on this board :)
good choice rat ;D
good choice rat
The pot and the Kettle.

Thank you all for being good friends, and i wish you all the best for the rest of 2010.
Sincerely;
Dyllan Weich, Omanashi
