The following is quoted from Toumal who posted this on the former Yiffstar now SoFurry.com forum.
This is a simple heads up message in case you are/ were wondering what has happened.
Quote - " SoFurry.com will go online on December 26th. (Tentative estimate)
Yes this is a tentative date, and there may be delays, but we do work hard to keep this date. SoFurry will go live with all planned features:
x) Galleries
x) Forums
x) Groups
x) Commission System
x) Sleek quickbrowser and submission editor
...but of course there's going to be so much more after launch:
x) Chat
x) Android mobile app
x) Flash animation support!
...and much, much more!
Yiffstar.com will go offline the week before the launch. We will use that time to do various maintenance and conversion tasks, as well as for testing and Q&A. So please bear with us during the waiting period. This forum will remain online during the transition period and we'll give you updates as often as possible.
Last but not least, please be patient with us during this time. SoFurry.com is the biggest software rollout ever for this site. No doubt there's gonna be bugs and issues, but we'll work to rectify them as soon as possible, so we can focus on the next task: Making new, cool features for you to enjoy!"
Hopefully this change will mean that the site will no longer be slow to load or browse.
Yeah, I went over there the other day and found it redirecting to some random Wiki, which confused the heck out of me... turns out they're doing load testing with that before the official launch.
Interesting idea, they're looking to add space for non-adult materials, which could be interesting for the writers among us - I've discussed a few times recently that there's no real writing-oriented site for furry writers to post all of their material to that isn't hit-or-miss like FA.
I once tried getting a generalized furry writing group through yahoo going. It ended up flopping out in the end. I had a few people join up, but no one really ever paid much attention to it. :\
I'm hoping the inclusion of groups will add a much needed dynamic to sorting and dealing with umpteen submissions per minute. The sort of thing FA should have but doesn't because update FA? lawl.
You can see that people want it too because "Let's make a profile as a group and watch it gaiz!"... heheh.
A sleeker and sexier submission editor as well. Yum.
Here's to changing all my default galleries over to SF. ;D
my only complaint about the new website is the search function is not working very well. I liked be able to search through the keyword tree to find what I want.
