Seeing as your sexual orientation is your own choice, no I haven't forced anyone into fandom. But, it sure sounds fun.

There are enough of us out there that treat it as such.

Ther than that, I'm working on my current room mate.  He's a big man, and I keep calling him Mister Bear, just to get him used to the idea.

I don't try converting anyone into furs, that's their choice on what they want to do. As for becoming an Otaku... *evil laughter*

If you guys take furry as serious as a religion, and are busy converting people... You're no better than scientologists. :|

I would be inclined to agree with Pixel here.

I have never tried converting anyone cause I feel they really wouldn't be a true fur (in the sense that they would prolly be very fringe-like and their furryness would be heavily influenced by who ever tried to convert them) they have to come out (so to speak) on their own, not with somone pressuring them to become a fur, especially if they are trying to pressure them into being a specific species as well.

The only thing I can really agree with is just showing them what it is and trying to paint the fandom in a good light, if they really like it at that point they will come on their own.

True enough.

I did have a unique situation years ago, before I was part of the whole fandom part, before I even knew there was a fandom...

In like 1999-2000, My girlfriend's father's last name was Fox, coincidentally, his nickname was Fuzzy Fox.  The guy was really old, and was the head of a piramid scam business, but he very well could have turned out to be a fur with the right influence.  He already had fox stuff laying around here and there, and a bunch of foxie traits.

With enough foxes, anyone can become a furry!

I agree with the whole trying to convert people into furries is like a Xian telling a Pagan "SAVE YOUR SOUL, BELIEVE IN GOD OR YOU'LL GO TO HELL!". If anyone pulls that kind of crap on me, their face will become nothing more than a crater caused by my fist, and their dangling junk will be aching for a very long time.

As for the Otaku thing that I mentioned earlier, I don't exactly turn them into an Otaku themselves, I just try to prove my point that what I like is something that shouldn't be hated. Even a neutral opinion is fine with me.

As far as me and converting goes, I just try to make something hated, to a neutral opinion.

Well, In my opinion. I wouldn't say I've tried to convert someone into a furry, i just mearly showed them the fandom and have them give it a try if they wish to. "Converting" to me sounds like you are applying unneeded preasure for a person to join (Thinks back to days I was forced to go to church...)

The only time I would ever show the world of Fur to anyone, is when they already show signs of being a furry. Some random friend wouldn't be a good candidate.

Yeah, I've never really tried to convert anyone myself - I've had a few folks express their interest in the fandom when they knew I was involved, but I feel that it's really up to them to decide if they're interested.
My closest friend knows about me being in the fandom, and she's shown quite a bit of interest in it, but she's not likely to become a furry anytime soon.

I guess we could always have people carrying signs and pamphlets downtown, and ask them if they would mind talking about their eternal inner animal... *g*

I don't know about converting others, but I was converted by one of my friends. All it took was one trip to Howloween 08 and I was sold. XD
