LynxStyle/Linxel/Mr.Linx here, Looking for any other players of Warmachine & Hordes, and wanting to share a bit of the joy of painting with the forums.

Many Years ago I started collecting and painting table-top minis for a game Called Warmachine & Hordes. In short it was poor-mans Warhammer (fantasy) but with a Steampunk twist for Warmachine, and a more monster focused roaster for hordes. For what ever reason I chose a faction that one would look at and ask "You hate yourself don't you". In short, to want to paint these guys... Yes: The faction is a bunch of sadistic masochists (Skorne) and their armour matches the theme for anyone painting them (ma gerd the trim, gems, and detail....). After collecting more skorne units (sets of 5-12 models in a unit) I picked up a 2nd faction for a little more gore-fx painting and organic fun (Gatormen).
Over the course of years I built up more than I could physically paint, then life happened and forced a stop altogether due to time limitations (career and relationship). Fast forward some years and time was granted back, painting resumed.
So what the hell, decided to upload the journey of painting. *Disclaimer* big ol'Lynx paws make holding brushes a little hard some time.

These ones were entered into a painting competition, while they made it into the final round, they didn't place at all but gained 2 mentions of note from judges
These 3 images (front/back of one character) hold a bit of a special place.
Maelok is one of my favorite pieces ever picked up, the design of a zombified warlock gave lots of opportunity to explore gore-style painting and really push learning. In the end it was probably the 2nd most fun I have had painting one of the minis in a very close 2nd to Wrong Eye (gator with purple hat and booze bottle).
The cataphractii are one of the lowest and highest points for me (picture contains 3/4, with #4 being completed at current). These guys literally killed my will to paint (yes, took a paintbrush and stabbed my will to paint multiple times in the figurative existence of it)... and are one of the single most annoying units to assemble. Tonns of spot-glues that out of the pain of trying to attach taught me many tricks in how to assemble minis that ended up being a game changer (hashing, drilling, pinning, and filing)
Fast-forwards between career and relationship, and suddenly this lynx found some time on their paws after moving and setting up the new place. With not much to do and suffering some major anxiety attempting to join in any social meet-up, I found peace-of-self with cracking open the old paints, learning how to revive 4-5 year dried out paint, and started up having to re-teach myself basic techniques.
Included is the full (completed) collection now they have a new home to be displayed on:
So what's next?
I have one more Skorne monster to finish, it was left off in a 1/2 completed state like the cataphractii and will save the image of that one for when its completed. After finishing off that monster I have these next 2 gator models to look forwards to painting and assembling.
Been too long since an update, but finished off the last of the Cataphractii (or also lovingly known as "that unit of assholes that make me hate painting"). At least they are completed. Saying that I found their Unit Attachment laying around and he has entered the queue so that he can join them on the shelf (granted he is a fun model in comparison).
Also finished off the beastie in progress (Despoiler) which will be shipped off to a friend who offered to do a glow-lighting pass for each of the lanterns. Had a small change of gears before starting on more gators, I decided to hammer out*(1) a few long overdue Skorne warlocks and models.
*(1) Hammer out is not the word to use, four small pieces (two of which are shared) took just over combined 7 hours to do start to finish. The lower half of one of the two bodies is about 80% done and that was another 3 hours last night.
