: Hadlock March 29, 2009, 11:01:52 -06:00
truth be told, i haven't  been paying much attention to the games that have been coming out for the past 6-7+ years, i am far behind in  gaming. I am set in Perpetual Nostalgia because the only games i own are on an N64 and Sega. this may also shock you, but...ive never played Halo, call of Duty  :-\

Who remembers : Echo the dolphin, Sonic (1, Sonic and tales, Sonic and Knuckles) Ocarina of time, Majora's mask. Starfox 64, Mario 64

Haven't made a new game to match that one's great, great glory.

He ruined the epic near ending for me, but yes, I remember Starfox 64 along with a lot of N64 and Sega games (Sonic being my favourite game character of all time).

I miss Kat. They totally ruined her when they brought her back on the DS game. Pure fail I say. She is cute no more...except for the old Kat.

The old Sonic games were boss. The new ones, frankly, are crap by comparison, though Rush for the DS hasn't been too bad so far, mostly because it's gotten back into the 2D stuff that the series always did well.

I don't have any current-generation consoles (unless you want to count the DS as a console) myself, just a PS2, Dreamcast, SNES, and Genesis.

I like the new-gen Sonic games, but yes, they just aren't the same as the originals.  Then again, that seems to be the case for most things.

lol sonic the Werehog  ::)

The Old games were sooooo fun, specially sonic and knuckles.
Its kinda funny that a guy with an IQ of over 300 cant kill a hedgehog, man Robotnic had so much crazy contraptions at the end of each level XD

Thats, right Robotnic, Not Dr Eggman :P

Ocarina Of Time never ever gets old for me. I think I've started a new file on that game more than any other game except perhaps Pokemon Red/Blue xP It's just so awesome, and brings back good memories of my childhood.

Older stuff is way more amazing compared to the crap we are given. I find it funny how games get classified as amazing if they contain "epic sounding music", lots of cut scenes, follows a cliche storyline that is rinse and repeat now. And well I could go on and on. There is a few exceptions but only A FEW.

Managed to get both Ecco games for the genesis a month ago. Look forward to playing them anywhere in the next 6 months - 3 years.

I still have my Dream Cast and I use to have a N64, I was one of the many people hooked on smash bros. though it cost me allot to buy the game. Also I loved the sonic adventure 1 & 2, the music for that series rocked.

Isn't the tubes of medusa like the water way things in the sky. And you gotta dodge a crap load of enemy's while swimming upwards and onwards. Because that was about as far as I made it back in the day when my mother bought it for the family.

Yups,  Medusa  was the giant jellyfish-thing in the  sky tides.

she is such a pain to get passed, she would always grab you and toss  you out. and then you'd have to swim all the way  back up.

and im watching  videos on youtube with people just speeding on passed, and im like "WTF! HOW!?!!?!"

I only played the sequel on the original Xbox and enjoyed it alot. Nice that it is BC on the 360. And by looking at the mechanics of the first I would say the sequel is worth playing if you loved the first. Just frustrating it ended on a bloody cliffhanger. I should make a thread warning people of series that end on cliffhangers and not to play unless your fine with disappointment at end of your road. Gameboy Colour (never used =\)
Wii
PS2 Slim
Xbox
Xbox360
Gamecube

My list is a little disappointing... I wish I had the older consoles. They seem so much more interesting.
I did a massive project that included a time-line and a bit of info on every "most popular" gaming console in history.

Now If someone has an Odyssey or Atari2600, I'll be very impressed.

i was playing Pilotwing 64, lol  that game has failure physics, if you crash  your character will fly up in the air, do copious amounts of flips and eventually land face first in the ground XD

Old games are the shit. I still have a working NES, SNES, N64 and Genesis (sadly not all of them are hooked up though). It's getting hard to find bits and pieces for the Genesis. I've been tempted more than once to pick up the Genesis collection for Xbox 360.

I still have my Genesis and SEGA CD. :p  No 32X, though...

Sonic 1 - 3, Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic CD, Ecco the Dolphin (CD), Sewer Shark... now a bunch of burned Sega CD games, too...

Never had an N64, though I played my friends' all the time... Goldeneye and Zelda and Mario. :P

Still <3 my consoles, though.  NES, SNES, broken-ish Turbo-Grafx 16, Gamecube, Dreamcast, PS2, Xbox 360, GBA, DS Lite, PSP.. @.@

That said, deep down I'm still more of a computer gamer than a console one.  Grew up playing old FPSes on my PC, and while I'm a Mac/UNIX guy now I still wuvs them the most.  John Carmack is my god. :O

Here's my favorites:

genesis:  nhl 94, pele soccer, jungle book, sonic the hedgehog 2, team usa basketball,

n64:  mario kart, super smash bros, goldeneye, mission impossible (hilarious), pokemon stadium, donkey kong, star fox, star wars rogue squadron, and a bunch more I'll regret not remembering.

funny story, I was able to upload the old nhl 94 theme song onto nhl 09.  It's GREAT!

You and me both!  I stopped caring right around the time the Gamecube appeared; it was also when my subscription to Nintendo Power ran out, and when Sonic appeared on their cover, symbolically ending the console cold war.

Last year when The Beatles Rock Band came out I realized that it was the first time I had been genuinely interested in a new game in almost a decade.  We still have a stack of Super NES, N64, and Game Boy games (even the Super Nintendo Game Boy converter).  And for all the bits per second and polygon-drenched graphics of what have come since, the golden age was undoubtedly the 1990s.  No matter how many times you remake them, the original Harvest Moon, SimCity, F-Zero, and Super Mario All-Stars (Surely the Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition of console upgrades) are still beautiful and crisp on a 16-bit CRT screen.  And for sheer jaw-dropping excitement, nothing beat the time Mario first appeared onscreen in Super Mario 64 (talking!).

I honestly love all my old consoles...but what's with all the hate for modern games?! :P

As much as I might lose some gamer cred among certain circles, I gotta be honest and say that most of my favorite games of all time were released either this generation or the last one. I'd recommend games like Limbo or Braid to any fan of classic platformers.

Not that there's anything wrong with loving the classics.

hah, theres no hate for modern games here bro. i play many modern games, and some of them are really damn amazing (shadow of the colossus, God of war to name a few)
the Tale series have been around since its release  unto the world in '95 and is concerned by many to be as influential to RPGs as Final Fantasy, and i love em.

and limbo does look like  really sweet indy game, ill be down for trying it.

I still own my Dreamcast, broken-ish TurboGraFX-16 and a Sega Genesis, then my roommate covers the Nintendo line with NES, SNES, GB, SGB, GBC, GBA, DS, N64, Game Cube and a Wii. Plus he has PSX, PS2, XBOX and a XBOX 360. We have tons of games for each system from a variety of genera's.

It's funny that this topic was made because, on new years eve we had a N64 binge out with some of our friends, played Quake 2, 64, DOOM 64, Mario Cart 64, Star Fox 64, & Goldeneye 64. XD

Wow, this is a bit of a late reply from me. :) Yeah, I admit I have a bit of a grudge against Shenmue for introducing the quick time event to gaming vernacular - I really hate QTEs. Not that I can't do them, I just find them mind-numbingly dull. They're part of why I never got into God of War (though I admit the game just didn't grab me beyond that either).

Also the part near the start of GoW where you had to walk along a beam and the difficulty was all due to it not working well with the control scheme. I despise crap like that.
