Little story explaining why I'm posting (Skip to the line of *'s if you don't care):
Recently I was walking with my best friend down a highway and we pasted by a girl we both knew from school. She exchanged glances with both of us but she only remembered my best friend and not me. Reason is he is a white guy with red hair, and I'm white with brown hair. So I was kind of disappointed that she didn't remember me until after we explained it. Anyways, I was trying to think of a way to make myself a stand out kind of hair style and while playing Rock Band, I realized what I wanted, THIS (WARNING BIG PICTURE) (http://www.rockband.com/wallpaper/3779104/1).

TLDR: I want hair that stands out.
I am wanting to style my hair like THIS (WARNING BIG PICTURE) (http://www.rockband.com/wallpaper/3779104/1). THIS (http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-sf2p/v216/26/97/867005397/n867005397_3790016_8836.jpg) is the most recent picture I have of me, though my hair is a little shorter now.
Anyone have tips on how I would be able to dye my hair black and blue, but not to an extreme as a buisness like EB Games would not hire me? I was thinking of keeping my hair straight most of the time and then only give it more body like in the first picture when going to events.
I am looking for plenty of options and so far I would get my dye from Manic Panic, unless there is something better. Also, any tips on straighteners that don't murder hair would be sweet.
Go get it professionally done the first time, and watch how they do it, ask how to maintain it, etc.
Kind of a crummy phonecamera picture, but I figure relevant considering we just did this last night for me.. :p
Star used their 'Flash Lightning' bleach and then Manic Panic's 'Shocking Blue' dye on some little streaks in my hair. Not styled anything near the same way, but you might get an idea of how the dye turns out. Each step we left in for a good half hour, and with the dye, on the bottle it said something about it working better with application of heat, so for 20 minutes I stood their alternating among all the streaks with the hair dryer. Not sure if that had an effect, but it definitely looks good in person. :D
They have a good selection of colour and bleach at a little mall kiosk called 'Culture Craze' in Central City, Surrey, but we did kinda grab their last 40% bleach pack in stock. <.<; They only had 30% packs left over, which are weaker, but if you leave it in a little longer it may turn out better.
Again, this is all DIY stuff - if you're really particular about the placement and style, I second that recommendation to go get it done professionally first, though.
I have used blue hair dye from Manic Panic in the past, I was going to use it again, but I think I will go with Unition's idea. Then after that I will follow Kithop's idea and do it myself after while following the stylists suggestions to keep it black and blue.

Red hair really is an unfair advantage in life :p
If you want help any time dying your hair I can help. My mom was a professional hair salonist and she has taught me a few things throughout the years of her doing my hair.
My hair is entirely purple with black and blue bangs. I never got my hair professionally colored, but I had friends who were into hair styling who taught me everything I needed to know. Everytime I walk into a salon, they always assume I got it done professionally till I explain that I did everything myself.
If you're thinking of dying your hair blue and still wanting to work for EB games, this is what I suggest. For the first few months, DON'T dye your hair. But you can style it. If you do get hired, you can ask for their policies on hair expectations. Some people really care alot about your appearance, especially if you're a brand new employee. Unlike people who have worked in a work place longer than you, you can get fired for discrimination reasons (It's unfair, I know. But it's unfortunately true.). After you work their long enough, they can't really fire you for coloring your hair, because it can get them in trouble for looking bad.
I used to work at the Garage Clothing store in Metrotown and I asked their policy on colored hair. The reason I was allowed right away is because they never cared as long as it wasn't really crazy. We had a handful of employees with different colored hair, like pink, blue, and purple. And firing me for having blue hair at the time would have looked stupid on their part, because they had hair as crazy as my own.
Hopefully my advice can help you out a little.
Some places will tell you if you don't dye your hair back you are fired.
The bakery, at a safeway I work in, an asian fellow a long time ago made his hair go a chemeleon style. So it would actually change colour when he moved. It was about a $300 hair style he got professionally done. They tried to fire him. He fought. He won. His hair was tastefully done and nothing wrong with it. I've gone in with blue or red or green or multicoloured hair and they haven't said a word to me. Those that know what my hair looks like and changes to when I dye it know. His hair wasn't offensive, so they couldn't do a damn thing about it. And that opened up a whole new world to people that worked after him ^^ I am greatful really.
>> I just wish I could have seen the hair...jeeze that would have been sweet! And this was some years ago too. He was around his 20's and I'm sure he's way older now. XD
Thanks for all the tips guys; I wasn't planning on making it over-the-top anyways. I was going to do black with a dark blue that looks cool but doesn't distract people too much.
That should be okay. Some black hair dyes already have a blue sheen in it already. I would know, since I dyed my hair black a couple times and it turned out to be a black/blue. Just like my bangs at the moment.
If you plan on dyeing it yourself with someones help, use Punky Colour dye. It's only temporary, but dyeing my hair half bleach blonde and half terquoise lasted me 3 months. It works great, lasts long, and you can dye over it pretty easily. xD
