: Rock for youth festival
: MooBear September 30, 2009, 01:01:52 -06:00
Hey, Just wanted to inform that on October 10th there will be a show at the Ray-cam center.
I'm saying this mostly cause my band is playing.
show starts at 12:00pm and ends at 8:00pm.
tickets are 10$

My band is called the Adherents, I play baritone saxophone.
sample: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2535785 (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2535785)

So I dont really come onto this forum. Mostly cause I dont know anybody and cause I'm too shy. Hopefully if people come over and see, you should come give me a poke.

thanks
Moo-Bear

Nice! all bands need a keyboard, even if they don't play any thing... still looks cool :P
But I cant say that I remember if I ever heard you x.X

: Hadlock October 03, 2009, 12:11:02 -06:00
Lets just say is good you didnt hear us,  Personally i really hated the music we played  a lot XD
Screamo/hardcore. which i'm ashamed of ever playing, to much bands  already sound like that  :-X

We played a few  gigs at the Endo, Timms, and the vineyard.  we have a few videos up on youtube of us playing at Timms (utter crap quality)

i was kicked out cause the others got jealous (especially the bassist) cause at Timms: Johnny (our vocalist at the time, now with Grindhouse) was introducing the band and when he said "Davis on Keys" i got the loudest applause XD

: MooBear October 03, 2009, 12:39:07 -06:00
heh... I know that feeling. when I started with my band I hated the music we did. But I got to incorporate what I wanted into the music and it helped me open up to new music so hey, it wasn't all bad :3

I only played once at the Endo... worst gig ever!!!!!!!
Tho that's kinda a stupid reason to kick somebody out. But I've seen people do some pretty stupid things before.

You playing with a new band now? and what kinda of music do you play?
: Re: Rock for youth festival
: Hadlock October 03, 2009, 01:54:38 -06:00
my new bands name is called Primordial Angel (Kithop is in the band too)

i really dont know what we play, its kinda like Alternative Neo-classical X3

hehe...Thanks! glad you like it ^.^
I've been in the band for way too long it seems. tho I still remember when I got asked to join. must have been around grade 9-10. so at least 4-5 years now :3
and every show we play, we still play the first song we ever wrote. A crowed favorite!

We all have are side projects, like I'm trying to form a jazz band and I write music and produce for a post-hardcore band... but its not really going any were X.x
: Re: Rock for youth festival
: Hadlock October 03, 2009, 12:16:56 -06:00
my band at the moment isnt going anywere too, we havent got together in a  month, cause of school and such  :-\

id really like to form a classical chamber ensamble! X3

: Re: Rock for youth festival
: MooBear October 03, 2009, 04:35:38 -06:00
Yah, School can have that effect X3

I would love to have a classical ensemble... but damn classical music is hard to play. its the reason I dident get into a music school I wanted to go.
: Re: Rock for youth festival
: Hadlock October 03, 2009, 05:12:16 -06:00
Classical music is really easy for me, cause  every member of my family (excluding my sister) are classical trained musicians who started playing at a very young age

I was brought up as a classical pianist, but changed over to Classical guitar (witch is now my main instrument of chois) i've been playing piano since i was 5 ,and guitar since i was 12.
: Re: Rock for youth festival
: MooBear October 03, 2009, 06:27:22 -06:00
WOW... very impressive.
I learned piano at a young age. but mostly jazz. classical is something I try, fail but enjoy. X3
Nobody in my family has the slightest of interest in music. Well... one person, my great uncle, but he died a few months back. I now own his accordion. I can polka all night long :p
He even taught me how to repair and maintain Leslie amps.

But meh... useless skill at best.

and still... I'd LOVE to hear you play. any thing really :p
: Re: Rock for youth festival
: Hadlock October 03, 2009, 06:44:44 -06:00
:P

Im the exact opposite, i cant play Jazz, cause i  fail at imporvising XD!
i dont like the chords in Jazz too, yah know :P

F#sus7aug2 - Bflatdim13th -A#7dim9aug4th

Bullshit Chords i call em XD
: Re: Rock for youth festival
: MooBear October 04, 2009, 12:00:00 -06:00
pff... potatoes potatoes (that doesnt really work in writing does it? well you know what I'm trying to say). Classical music with all its ups and downs. for jazz... you dont need to know chords... just what sounds like what and then have fun!

one of the reasons why I love the organ. no matter what you do, it will still sounds awesome!
: Re: Rock for youth festival
: Hadlock October 04, 2009, 11:19:33 -06:00
I agree that music should be fun, its the best feeling in the world :)

But knowing how  a chord sounds, and knowing to play the chords will make is much more fun and easier, cause you wont be  going through the books on how to play the chords and end up slowing  down rehearsals X3

the only reason i call em  bullshit chords, is not because they  sounds band, but because they are are inconvenient to the musician.

C#sus4add9-5/+/B is just a  "fancy" way of writing Bm9. :P
wouldn't it be much easier to  just write Bm9 ,instead of a bunch of mumbo-jumbo? XD
id be really scared when reading a score then  something like that popped up!

oh btw, I LUFFLES THE ORGAN TOO :D

I'm going to the art institute in Burnaby. I'm taking there professional recording arts program. at first it was just to keep me busy until I get into cap but I'm really liking every thing that the school is offering. But will see what happens in Jan I guess :3

Cap is a pretty amazing place, I know a lot of the people there and some teachers personally. And there all awesome, damn them :p

I'll for sure bring my sax at a fur meet, hopefully I could make one sooner or later. I'm all exited now ^.^
