So school is finally done and with that comes some free time. All that's left to do is graduate in a few weeks and prepare for my big move. For anyone that saw my hatchday post a month ago I'm happy to say plans are going great thus far and August is still set to be the date.
Which leaves me to my next question, I know nothing about the area! ???
Besides a tiny bit of board creeping, some apartment hunting on craigslist, and one visit to Vancouver city 7 years ago, I have no experience with BC.
Meep! So I am humbly asking for help. I'm open to hearing anything you think might be useful in my transition: good places to live, fun must-see attractions, places where furries gather/meet, what the job market is like, people looking for rommies/friends, etc. Its a general question I'm throwing out to the floor so feel free to say whatever comes to mind, anything at all! I could also use new contacts so please feel free to message me, I love to socialize (and actually have some free time to do so!)

Vancouver has tons of parks and gardens. Some in quite unexpected parts. It's fairly safe to wander and explore the GVRA.
I try to avoid the area around the Gateway Skytrain Station, in Surrey. As well as the blocks around Carrall St @ Cordova St. They just look like really dirty places, and I've had strange encounters a few times around those places.
Fun must-see stuffs? The PNE is world-renowned, lotsa hiking opportunities, the sea-wall if you like to bike (or anywhere, we're a pretty friendly bike city,) I'm sure you'll never not find something to explore just wandering around.
Furries are easy to find on the boards, and coming to any of the events listed in the calender that are scattered about will bring you many connections, surely some would love to tour you around?

Thank you ppakky, I've been to enough cities to know even the best ones can have some blemishes. And I love pretty outdoor spaces, I'm glad to hear there are many and its safe to explore! I have a strong sense of wanderlust :)
The Pacific National Exhibition looks amazing as does the sea-wall. I enjoy both biking/hiking and waterfront environments. If I can get out there in August as planned I could even go see the fair! I used to attend events regularly in Edmonton so I definitely plan on attending them in the future. Thanks for the info Sasha!
